Title: Worst Miss America answer to evolution question
Post by: Gabriel Beal on July 16, 2011, 03:04:29 AM
They asked all 50 Miss America contestants if evolution should be taught in school.  There were a lot of really disappointing answers, but only one that starts out sounding so promising, only to then crash and burn.

Did any of them advocate a dissolution of the government monopoly on education and curriculum? It's the obvious answer. There will be a lot more openings for singularities in knowledge if education is completely decentralized. Society will truly be able to choose the optimal form of education and the correct body of knowledge as opposed to appealing to a central authority while having two wolves feed on a sheep.

How about, let parents decide what their kids should be taught?

Guess that's what private/home schools are for though, right?  If only the people whose children went to private/home school didn't have to subsidize public schoolers with their tax dollars...

P.S.  Why are you watching the 50 Miss America contestants, again?
