To prevent me from getting insignificant newsfeeds, I started to unfollow friends and pages' updates that don't meet my interests, instead, I keep the ones that interest me and get what's new they give about things, get connected with good friends, find old friends unexpectedly, and make a call and exchange information :)

I think 1 - 2 legit page will do to keep you updated when you don't have time for Television. Block, ignore or unfollow friends that are too aggressive regarding political agenda and NEVER read comment box 99% are trolls.
