Title: Silver
Post by: FinShaggy on September 12, 2013, 08:35:03 PM
When I searched for different Silver topics with the in site search engine, I couldn't find any that really fitting what I was looking for.

So I wanted to make a thread to get some questions answered.

What is the average price of Silver in USD? ( $20-25 an oz right? )
What is the average price of Silver in BTC?
Is there a good website to discuss Silver like there is Bitcoin?
What is the best website to buy bulk silver on?
Are their websites that sell bulk silver for Bitcoin?
What is the best material to use when making a Silver cast? (rings, figurines, etc)
Are there trustworthy people on Bitcointalk selling Silver?

What are the best tools to use to begin making your own silver art?
What do you need to flatten silver?
What do you need to etch images into silver?
What do you need to stamp images into silver?
What do you need to bend silver?
Why does everyone hate on silver shot/grain? Is it not pure?

Also, I want to start a small silver exchange. I will buy anyone's (.999+) silver for USD or BTC, and sell Jewelry, Art, Coins, etc for Bitcoins.

I am writing a history book to fund this project.

Also
This is what Texas looked like when it was first formed out of a Mexican territory known as "Tejas".
http://www.drtinfo.org/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/Texas1836map.jpg

Stephen F. Austin was given a permit by the Mexican government (as well as a cannon to defend from Indians) to bring 300 families from America, to the Tejas region of Mexico, because no Mexicans really lived there and the government wanted people settling the land.

Then the 300 families started getting to big (siblings and cousins and grandparents, etc all coming) and Mexico asked for the cannon back. That is when the first ever "Texas State Flag" was made.

http://11thscreen.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/12/Texas_Flag_Come_and_Take_It.png

Then this led to a war, which led to the famous "Battle of the Alamo", which gave Texans the spirit of force they needed to win the war in a 15 minute battle that sent the Mexican army over the Rio Grande.

I think Texas is the spirit of rebellion that this nation needs, so I am going to go to the old territories from the Republic of Texas (New Mexico, Colorado, etc) and start making my own "Texas Silver" to buy things on Craigslist (Like how Certain Kingdoms, and the Nazis had their own gold prints) First it will just look like this with maybe a few PERSONALLY hammered in stamps:
http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/21glEltKwSL.jpg

Then eventually I hope to be able to buy something more intricate, and do something (not at all exactly) like this, but something way cooler:
https://www.texmetals.com/media/catalog/product/cache/1/small_image/295x295/9df78eab33525d08d6e5fb8d27136e95/t/e/texas-silver-round-obverse-3d-negative_2.png

Would anyone else be interested? I found a website that sells silver by weight for Bitcoins.
This will definitely be a few months before it starts, but I DEFINITELY plan on doing it, even if just to have a small store of silver for an economic collapse.

Also, along with the History Book

1 Guide Explaining how our laws were shaped, and what they were meant for.
1 Guide Explaining the Criminal Statutes and Regulations, so people know what to say when the police are doing something wrong.
1 Guide Explaining traffic law, so you know what to do when you get stopped, and you know what the police take for granted (meaning they'll fuck you so they can make money, just because you aren't educated about the law)
1 Guide about court procedure and some celebrated cases.

And maybe one to put it all together, so when you see a cop in Texas, you can just hold it up as he walks up, and he'll know not to fuck around.

Ex: The police broke into my house with no warrant, they asked my friend "Are you a lawyer" he said "No" they put cuffs on him.
Now, when the cops ask someone "Are you a lawyer?" You just have to make sure you know the law like one :)

I buy all of my silver on providentmetals.com they are usually one of the best prices you can find online, and they will also purchase back your silver at very fair prices.

I love the Texas theme.  Are you in Tejas?  I am in DFW and would buy one of your silver coins if you end up making them.

I absolutely love silver as a precious metal.  To me it is way more useful than gold, as it has a lot of use in the medical field.

I like amagimetals (http://www.amagimetals.com/) for silver/gold for btc.  Although, if you want to make a huge purchase of silver with cash, Europac Metals (http://www.europacmetals.com/) is where I go.  10K min on your first purchase.  They have sales and deals from time to time with minimal premiums.  PM me for more details.  As far as silver/BTC prices, check Coinapps (http://coinapps.com/bitcoin/silver/calculator/).  Best there is.

What are the best tools to use to begin making your own silver art?
What do you need to flatten silver?
What do you need to etch images into silver?
What do you need to stamp images into silver?
What do you need to bend silver?
Why does everyone hate on silver shot/grain? Is it not pure?

1) The average price of silver changes daily. In the last few months, it has been anywhere from $20 - $35 per oz aproximately

2) The average price of silver in BTC would be something you would have to calculate using the silver price, and the Average BTC price

3) There are plenty of precious metal forums, if you google it, you will find many many names. For your purposes though, I would try and avoid the numismatic ones, as they deal in rare old silver coins and such.

4) If you need a very large amount, I'd check APMEX, they are one of the biggest names in silver, and they offer a grabbag sort of deal for $.70 over spot per ounce, for random pieces of silver. However they are guarenteed to be .999 and of the weight you purchase.

5) I'm not sure about Bulk silver, for BTC, but Amagi is pretty reputable.

6) When making things out of silver, use sterling silver .925 Silver. .999 Silver is too soft and if if you make things out of it, it will get dented and dinged all to hell.

7) Everyone on BTCTalk is trustworthy if you use escrow and test your silver to make sure its not fake

8.  Some of the basics, you will need a metal melting crucible. I'd advise a electric one that you can melt up to .5-1KG in for like $500, or you can get hard core and make a ceramic one. You will also need an anvil, planching hammer, proper waxes for modeling, and various other tools that I don't entirely remember off of the top of my head.

9) It really depends on how much silver you are talking about for flatening, stamping, and etching. Silver is a soft metal, however like for 1Oz coins, rounds, and bars like you see for sale by various companies, you will need at least a 10 ton hydraulic press. You can get away with just using muscle if you are doing much smaller stuff, like 1 gram coins.

10) You should be able to bend the silver with a hammer (proper type) and an anvil

11) People hate on Silver shot/grain because once the bag is opened, theres no guarentee of purity. The pieces tend to be too small to accurately test, so it could very easily be counterfeit.

Silver is cool. We have some charts on the prices at Gold Silver Bitcoin. Congratulations on your new business. Are there any artists out there interested in actually creating silver art? I saw this crazy photo/painting on like Pawn Stars and it reflected different at different times of the day, based on the time (obviously.)

I understand certain coins are cool to have (hence my avatar), but silver is silver is silver is silver.  I don't buy bulk for numismatic investments, only for intrinsic store of value.  Buy 10oz billion bars.  I have a buch of those.  It's on the cheap right now too!

Hit up some local coin shops too.  Sometimes they'll give you a good deal if they want to unload.  I buy junk silver a lot, usually $1.50-$2 over spot.

I also want to make a silver hammer (for my dead brother) his name was Mason (which means stone worker, so maybe I will make a chisel also), he had a hammer that he kept in his room.
I can't tell if this hammer is real silver, but like this.
http://www.blogcdn.com/www.politicsdaily.com/media/2010/12/silver-hammer-427jf122910.jpg

His middle name was also "Ryan" (my first name) which means "King" in Irish. So I want to make a crown to keep with the hammer. And his last name was wight, and silver is white-ish (we have different last names).
Like this, but with weed leaves instead of the fluer de lee (or whatever it is called), because my brother used to say it smelled like me whenever he smelled weed anywhere, and when he saw a dispensary he would ask what it was, and I know if he would have lived to be old enough, he would have loved Marijuana.

IDEA

What we would do is make videos of EVERY silver test we ever do, then we add our stamp (brand). And that way we can honestly say we sell .999+ silver (and have all semi-failed tests sell at a discount). And people will come to know that anything with our symbol on it, is not only automatically trustworthy, but can be looked up on YouTube and verified.

Theres a ton of tests that you can do, however I would highly reccomend investing in an ultrasound machine, and a electronic purity tester. The ultrasound machine is used to test to make sure that the silver is silver all the way through, lacking any lovely tungsten/lead insert. The electronic purity tests do just that, and show the purity of the metal.
