Title: [~25.5 TH] New Pool | 0% Fees | VARDIFF | ASIC Ready | PPLNS+Loyalty/PPS
Post by: BTCMiners.net on September 12, 2013, 11:06:53 PM
www.BTCMiners.net

We're a new smaller pool working to become medium sized at first to make sure the server can handle the load of traffic in it's current configuration along with making sure the connection is capable of handling the requests that would be incoming and outgoing. (Though, high hashers are more than welcome to join!)

The pool is a proprietary PPLNS type system, it's PPLNS+Loyalty/PPS.

How PPLNS+Loyalty/PPS works is that if your miner (which we can see from the backend) has a high active rate you will be awarded when a block is found your proportionate BTC.

How the Loyalty bonus works, is that if at any point a miner is inactive for 48 hours, and not keeping their 3 hour hash rate at their average, their shares are then thrown into the "Pool Shares" category.  Ultimately it would pretty much detour any long duration pool hopping in a sense that would not really be worth while to mine at a really high hash-rate and then leave after getting X amount of shares, leaving the rest of the pool miners to finish finding that block.  However, it does allow you to pool hop to a small degree because the 48 hour window is available.  I don't want to put down the rule of saying you have to mine here and no where else, but for the security of those who do mine actively with us are then covered by that small duration window of allowable pool hopping because those miners would be coming back on a fairly consistent basis, thus making it still efficient for everyone.

How the "Pool Shares" work, is that any miner that is inactive for 48 hours, those shares are added to the "Pool Shares", then simply deducted from the total shares during the calculation for the payouts and the user will be removed from the list, to keep it clean.  If the miner joins again later on, then they would simply be added back but with a 0 share balance.  You can figure out the PPLNS+Loyalty/PPS when following the calculations below:

Block_Income / (Pool_Round_Shares - Pool_Shares) which would give you the PPS which then you would take the PPS * Worker_Shares and it then gives you the total of what you mined on top of any bonuses from miners who stopped mining in the pool for more than 48 hours.

What makes us different? Simple. Our payout system.. We punish long duration pool hoppers, it's understandable and unreasonable to think pool hopping is a bad idea.  We all want to make as much money as possible mining, right?  I feel that 48 hours is long enough to pool hop back and forth.  If you do pool hop, the length of time is recorded on the activity rate in the database so if you left the pool for 48 hours, you would have to mine at least 48 hours and 1 second for example to not lose your shares.

I'm doing this to discourage long duration pool hopping so that the pool will be efficient and have a constant hash rate and to make it successful for everyone.  So even if the pool gets a rouge miner who mines for 6 hours at 1TH/s and never comes back, his shares after 48 hours are submitted to the "Pool Shares" to be deducted from the total round shares, giving you more BTC!

The pool does have to wait for 120 confirmations before funds can be disbursed among the active miners, so there is a small wait time of somewhere between 12 and 24 hours before the payout would take place.  (I initially thought we might take from the total pools funds, like 2% of each block found until we have 100% or 25~ BTC for instant payouts as it would eventually just be the pool buffer for instant payouts.  Might be a little bit of a headache at first but the pool wouldn't keep those funds, even if we shutdown those funds would be split between all the current active miners, encouraging members to stay even longer!)

The pool has a 0% fee, though donations are always welcome:
BTC Address: 1EF9HUfdLqK5zeszv49u7oLiUJznjrcwev  (or in my signature!)

To connect to BTCMiners.net you simply need the following information:

Hostname: http://stratum.btcminers.net
Port: 3334
Username: Your BTC Address
Password: Anything You'd Like

If you use command based mining software you would connect with the Hostname as follows:  Hostname: http://stratum.btcminers.net:3334

If you're using a GUI, more than likely the first way of connecting and simply just plugging in those values will get you up and running!

I hope to see some miners here soon.  I am working on the website, at least the stats that are necessary are showing but will be working on having more statistics available in the near future as the pool progresses.

If you have any questions on how the PPLNS+Loyalty/PPS works that wasn't explained to your satisfaction, please do not hesitate to PM me so I can help better explain; however, I'm hoping it was sufficient! ;)

Just curious if there is something that is not making this pool strive' any comments?

Perhaps the problem is that this pool pretty much equals solo mining to most miners with any significant hashrate today. If you are serious about this, you'll likely have to attract more hashrate with bonuses coming out of your own pocket.

I had the same thought, I re-wrote the code so the original post has been completely changed from the original.  I really like the idea of how the PPLNS+Loyalty/PPS system would work, being that miners who give up makes the miners shares just that much more valuable when paid out.

What does everyone think of that?  I do understand it is a very small hash rate and I'm hoping to get to around ~500-600GH/s at first to make sure the server is working correctly and the payment system is working correctly as well.  I think changing the payout system might have changed the playing field for making a "quality" pool for long term miner use.

Thanks for the input though.  There definitely is a chance I might buy some Steam product keys for various games and give them out to people who found blocks, or longest miner, etc.. Just some ideas right now, not really set in stone, but a very viable method or idea to attract new miners.   I have the funds to be able to reward the block finder and perhaps run other contests and what not for Steam games, etc..

In fact, I'm set on the Steam product keys.

I will buy multiple steam product keys and the winner of the block will get a free steam game.  Some might be good games, some might not be.  If you're not happy with your game you get you could always trade it for BTC, someone will want it or the same applies if you already own it.

The gift will be randomly picked..

I had mined some shares here but it seems you have started anew and old shares were lost?

There isn't a proper front end for the pool - is that coming?

Yes, previously the "old" pool was just setup wrong (server specifications) to handle enough load for CPU/Memory and the connection/bandwidth amounts.

There will be more front end additions added this upcoming week.  It's been a hectic weekend I've had to take a train to a different state and drive a uhaul back for a friend who has been moving and I gotta take a small vaca from the computer and go fishing... so updates will be coming this upcoming week, you should see more and more each day I'm hoping.

Glad to have you with us! :)

Right now it is registration based.  Some users have had problems connecting and it requires some modifications to the configuration of the server, which I don't have the time to do this very second.

For the time being.. If you'd like to join the pool, please send me a PM with your username you'd like to use along with your BTC Address for payments to be sent to, or if you'd like to use your BTC Address for your username that is fine as well.

--

Also, some users cannot connect because they're using GetWork which we do not support, only stratum.

Thanks,

I'm just a new small ~2GH/s Miner.

So if I understand this correctly. Long term I will have better payout due to low or no pool fee. But short term will have a lot more payout variability?

That is more or less correct.  Being that the pool is setup to favor the "loyal" miners who are mining through lucky and unlucky rounds you would yield a higher net payout since there are no fees and also anyone who would mine and quit, after 48 hours their shares that are submitted actually get equally distributed in a system very much like PPLNS itself.  So in the long run we might have a number of people who will try us out and leave and there will be the ones who stay.  The ones who try and leave their shares aren't just "lost" in the mix, it's "redistributed wealth" among the long term loyal miners.

tl;dr: Long term potentially could pay more as the pool grows.  Short term, a lot of variability until the pool grows.  So in either circumstance the bigger the pool the better it is for the loyal miners.

I understand that your front end is under construction. but I see the same named user twice with different shares accepted/rejected numbers. But seem to only count once for Pool hash speed

Yeah its something I need to fix.  Its with the passwords, if you see both users update accordingly one doesn't have more shares than it should since its echoing results from the database.  It was and obvious oversight but poses no threat to the pool.  In the end the extra user will simply be deleted.

Appreciate the heads up anyhow!

Getwork is enabled disabled.

Those whom can utilize GW can now connect: http://stratum.btcminers.net:3333     Stratum Mining Port is: 3334

Username: BTC Address
Password: Anything

EDIT:

GW will be enabled soon, need to properly test it outside of running it with the main pool to verify the shares are working correctly.  If so, then it will be back up shortly.  Had a little bit of an issue of switching between stratum and GW so need to go through configuration files to make sure it's all set properly.  Still working on a lot of backend items on the check list and then the front end will be getting a nice overhaul so there could be some front end "outages" though, it has -NOTHING- to do with mining, just statistics.

Come on people at least add it to your pool list if your not going to go all in on this pool. Put 10% of you GH/s here.

My only connection with BTCMiners is my bfgminer app  :D

Still looking for miners!  If you have any questions, please feel free to PM me!

I have about 1TH, did solo mining on my own pool, found few blocks, had a stretch of 10 days without a block and I can tell you that with 100GH you might be going 60-100 days without a block.
And I was lucky because my blocks were found after 1-2xdiff shares.  Now, on average you probably need to find 100-300M diff1 shares to solve a block.

I remember, between 86M and 112M, I did find a block that was orphaned so I did not get paid.  So imagine mining with 100GH for 3 months only to find an orphaned block.

Mining is about hours, days at most weeks these days.

With 100GH your variance will be huge, if you ever find a block it will be by accident.

Remember that diff increases every two weeks, so to keep the same chance of solving a block,
you have to add more hashing power, that is every two weeks!!!

People with more hashing power than me use pools to reduce the variance.

I don't disagree with you one bit at all.  I was actually lucky as hell as when I started this pool I found the block 257336 (My Pool's BTC Address: 1Cdn1JeBKz8JHsk6v6y2s2QvPANFH63kgu)
Block Info: https://blockchain.info/block-index/416849  -- I found that block in 48 minutes.  Completely luck no doubt.  But there's nothing wrong with starting a new pool and adding to the list, it will only help decentralize the currency even more.  I'm not taking a nickle from the pool so everyone gets their fair share of funds and then some from miners who end up leaving.  So that's why we're looking for dedicated miners to find these blocks.  As the pool grows, I have a dedicated server ready to deploy with no/limited downtime.  The longest downtime would be the network propagation of the A Name Address, but will post an IP address days before the transition.  I'm actively working on the statistics right now and working on getting a 'User Management' page up soon, so that you can have a lot of options as a big pool would have.  We are small and I completely understand the variance of it, but being able to show I'm willing to mine with all my power should show I'm committed to maintaining the pool.  I've only done a recent 30 minute hop between BTCMiners and another pool just so that the pool is funded for hosting, etc.. until it's time to colo a server.  The KVM Server I'm using is definitely powerful enough for the time being.  I would imagine with the current setup once we reach around 5 TH/s is when I'll need to upgrade to the colo which then will be able to support a lot more than that.

The server that will be colocated will be a:

AMD FX-6100 Hex Core (OC'd to 4GHz)
32GB DDR3 Memory
480GB SSD w/ 2TB backup 7.2K RPM
3x 1Gbps NIC's (DC will allow multiple connections to the switch)
I'll have 1Gbps w/ 15TB of bandwidth a month

The server is solid and ready to go, I'm just not willing to invest yet into putting it into a DC until there are more active miners.   If you're interested in mining with us, we'd be glad to have you!  Thanks for your post. :)

It is all fine.  But you have to ask yourself, what is there for the miners?  Why would someone want to join your 100GH pool?
If I wanted 0% pool, I'd go to EMC, DGM.  They also have 5% PPS.

Miners have options:

btcguild
50btc
bitminter
eclipsemc
eligius

All are ASIC ready and have non-PPS payouts, some do merged mining.

So why would someone want to mine at your pool?  If you offer 1-3% PPS, maybe you'll get some traction.
Otherwise, it will be hard to convince people to join.

I think times of "If you build it, they will come" are pretty much over.

Not disagreeing with you at all.. Just offering options..  Some people still like to mine at smaller pools.. Plus I am offering incentives from my own pocket to those who find the block I'll be giving away free Steam games.

You should offer account registration and worker names and stuff.  Maybe people would help you out a little if you gave them an account page with payout address and stuff so they felt safer.  Right now it looks like you just have to set them up manually?

Its in progress.  The user account page is being coded literally as fast as I can.  Payments are manual, but with the amount of workers it's not that big of a deal right now.  I'm working on the website daily, but it's a lot of behind the scenes coding before I can make it public, not to mention some testing first.

But the pool is coming along.  Just wanted to get the name out and possibly get some miners already mining since I'm taking 0% out of this and actually paying out of my pocket to have it run, no including the time; I'd like to see the pool prosper a little bit in hashing rates to continue development.  I'll be going to the extent at first to have a landing page with pool stats, then user management at the very least before getting more elaborate with it.

Thanks for the post! :)  Hope to see you hashin' with us soon! ;)

The server is solid and ready to go, I'm just not willing to invest yet into putting it into a DC until there are more active miners.   If you're interested in mining with us, we'd be glad to have you!  Thanks for your post. :)
Can you pls gimme contact to hosting company?
Just wanna check for price and get 1 for myself - nothing related to you/your pool or even mining.

There are a bunch of colo providers out there who offer great deals, www.webhostingtalk.com   (for colo hosting: http://www.webhostingtalk.com/forumdisplay.php?s=e971f27a6a3597c5f8c4690379f4cc86&f=131)

I personally OWN that server, it's sitting right now collecting dust as we speak since I have nothing really to use it for.  I mean it's running right now, but as a home media server.. for the time being.  The SSD is inactive as I don't want to use it currently when it's not needed just have the mechanical drives plugged in.

For some reason the firewall had your IP blocked.  It should be fixed.  (Figured it out, since you were the only one blocked..)

My rig is down since Sunday should be back up wed/thu

No problem.  (I'll make sure your shares stay put.  You've given me notice on the subject and have been a long term member.) -- As for anyone who objects, in the end I guess I get to be the deciding factor on situations such as this as I am footing 100% of the bill.  He has mined at low hash-rate 300K plus shares, so there has been a lot of time for him personally invested which is why his funds will be paid out if a block is found, or will stay in the 'active' shares unless the time has just been too long.

Also there is no minimum payout, so granted you're actively mining you'll be paid once a block is found.

User: 1JXfojR4pLEHXqMpQvy2RvhQAmdkfZ3ngm -- Message me when you can, so we can figure out why you have such a high reject rate for.  Your previous accepted shares have been saved, though to prevent a high share rate of rejects I've temporarily removed you from the server, so the statistics are correct.  I need to figure out what's going on with your miner.

Well as the post above said we have a random heavy hashing unit coming in, though they're sending in a lot of rejects.  I'm not sure yet if this is suppose to be malicious as they're not responding.  In either case I'm prepared to deal with it.  So far @ 25 TH/s the server isn't having any issues with him/her running.  Just that individual is getting a lot of rejects while the rest of us are chugging along just fine.  So either something is wrong with your ASIC or there is a connection issue between us and yourself.   Still welcoming new members.  We handled for a few hours 25 TH/s with only very minimal usage processor, memory and bandwidth usage.

We've also confirmed delivery of a minimum of 35 TH/s we will be reselling out per GH/s at a very reasonable intro rate at $9.25 USD per GH/s.  This will be for the first 35 TH/s of equipment we will be receiving.  After those units have been setup, confirmed, operating and hashing away by then we will have a release of next roll out of "cloud hashing" phase which will not be quite as inexpensive as the first phase, however it will still be very competitive to other market players currently out there.

As for the website, it's coming together.  Do apologize about the known links that take you no where as of yet.  We need to setup a solid line of communication between multiple members of BTCMiners to answer questions, emails, etc.. before we even begin to post that sort of information for the public's eyes.  We should have more up shortly on the site, please stay tuned!

This is a great chance for newbies to join in on mining without having a huge risk value involved, along with veteran miners the likewise.  Price per GH/s is extremely low and the time is now to get in on this!

I'm only pushing the subject because of the overhead expenses.. I'd REALLY like to break even selling these out per GH/s before the items arrive so that they're hashing away and generating revenue near immediately after we receive them.

So, please! Get it while the prices are low!

Orders are still available.

Update:

To make it worth the while for previous buyers and future buyers.  We're going to match 1GH/s per 10GH/s ordered.  That will reduce the cost to around $8.50 per GH/s when ordering 10 GH/s.  We will match near 10% to total on all orders above 10 GH/s.

Post by: BTCMiners.net on November 12, 2013, 09:22:52 PM
Updated pricing from $9.25 to $8.50 per GH/s.   Updated pricing was so that orders that were 10GH/s and over no longer include the free GH/s due to the fact the entire pricing fees have been changed all together.

All the pricing has been based off $8.50 per GH/s all the way up to 500 GH/s.  That means you can get 100 GH/s for $850 which is a good bargain at that rate.

Due to the price drop we will most likely implement merged mining to help with the electric costs and possibly a small percentage fee to compensate for any difference.

Will update with more information as we get it.

I have have set aside 100 GH/s to the person who finds the next block with BTCMiners.net (on top of your payout of course..)

This fund is coming out of additional allocated hashing power that I have set aside from the 35 TH/s for prizes, promotions and contests.  You will win 100 GH/s for life by simply mining with us.

Hostname: http://stratum.btcminers.net:3334
Username: BTC Address

This is for stress testing the server for large hash rates.  I need to make sure everything is in order and this is a test run, prior to our launch date of throwing some major hashing power at the system.  There might be some bugs, but this is what it's for.

Bring it on! :)
