What's so surprising about the results though? That they were different from some other poll in the past? That's kind of the thing with polls. Without proper statistical methodology, they're going to provide wildly varying results. McAfee's followers tend to be the more aggressive trader/hodler type, so his results were different from one made across several subreddits which likely include several casual traders.

I'm more surprised that only 5% of his followers invest in ICOs, given how he's been parading it as the future of funding.

Nothing particularly surprising: IT-centric product is dominated by young nerd men using twitter, survey on internet found! Headline to grab attention, interesting none the less.

It doesn't stop to amaze me, that both McAffee and Kaspersky, the two antivirus gurus, grow to be the bitcoin gurus as well. Is there something more than that to it? Maybe they are trying to grow their emporiums in crypto space as well? Just some food for thought, though....

McAfee is not a bitcoin Guru or a crypto Guru. He's just a famous guy with an opinion. The only reason following his opinions has any value is because so many people think that he knows what he's talking about. There are so many better informed people than McAfee who get little or no recognition and attention.

I was not saying he "is" crypto guru, but please note that he is featured in crypto-news for the second time this last week: the first time was his prediction for bitcoin price, this survey is the second time. So I am thinking that maybe he "aspires to become" a crypto guru, don't you think?

The author of this list https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2880178.new#new thinks differently

He put McAffee on the 8th place. And he's got a lot merits for this list.... so I guess means people like it.

Exactly this, his poll doesn't really mean anything cause its from a Crypto dominated account. It's not like regular people are being polled. If I was to poll 10 people at a basketball game on their favorite sport, I'd get an outcome like this. Not suprising.

Kinda sad that you posted this TBH. McAffe is a MASSIVE FRAUD too. #Scammer and #Shill

Oh, he is a self-proclaimed Guru no doubt and he wants people to know about it. I just do not think that his opinion should have anywhere near the worth that it currently has attached to it. He is great overall for promoting crypto and having a public figure be bullish but as far as investment advice goes I wouldn't put any real weight behind his.

He has a lot of supporters, I would not disagree on that. I just don't think that he should have so many.

Yes, this is the most surprising result since McAfee use to sponsor many ICOs. But maybe ICOs are losing popularity these days and the old good days for ICOs seem gone...

Nah ICOs are alive and well. Sure we're seeing a slight dip in hype, but that's normal considering how much there was like 2 months ago.

I stop following McAffee when he started to act crazy and then made excuse that his account was hacked. Such trivial man.

Not following him. But I heard that his twitter account has hacked, well that's according to him.

He is more of an influencer than a crypto guru. But he is so eccentric that others fine his "coin of the day" interesting. But then again, where is he when Bitcoin wasn't even in the mainstream media? He just appeared sometime last year and made controversial remarks like eating his manhood if bitcoin doesn't reach 1 million.

For me the survey doesn't bring anything on the table. It's just another number that doesn't add up to something. He can even create a new survey and I'm sure it will have a different result.

Indeed ... I was thinking about that another day ..

... define the metrics that you think you belong to, put things in perspective ... then develop your algorithm to deal with the data

This is a very interesting survey. I am not surpised with the results - actually I was instinctively guessing most of the results by myself. New generations with a lot of free time are most of the crypto tribe. Anyone spending time of BCT would understand that quite fast. :)

Are you promoting coinpedia!? John McAfee!? or what!?
I hate McAfee, he promotes crypto for his own profit. He's not a financial advisor. He's a scammer.
That's why some people are doubling tweet profiles and committing fraud.
If I'm not wrong, it was one of the first profiles to be duplicated.

ever heard of click-baits :D

the article itself is complete bullshit but the Poll is interesting in my opinion. it proves that McAfee has been very interested in cryptocurrencies and his interest was mainly in running a pump and dump group instead of anything else. this can be visible from his tweet history and the way he advertised some altcoins and also the type of followers he has gathered, all kids with enough money at hand to throw away!

John McAfee!

Some people follow closely, some people do not love at all.
The coin he suggested at one point blew badly. I do not trust too much. Some people have made boots on Twitter. Just to get coins from John McAfee.
