Title: I Highly Suggest You Do NOT Use Cryptopia
Post by: MV7 on February 13, 2018, 01:44:53 PM
Cryptopia has been having a ton of issues lately, particularly with withdrawals. I tried withdrawing about 0.15 btc a few days ago, only for the dreaded "withdrawal processing" to come up on my account for about a day. I wondered why this was, since all of the other exchanges I use (bittrex, binance, kucoin) process withdrawals fairly quickly. Apparently I was not the only having issues.

https://www.reddit.com/r/Cryptopia/

I went on the reddit page and read multiple horror stories of how people haven't been able to withdraw their funds for weeks. I guess I was lucky to be able to withdraw after about a day. I've heard that they've also been having issues with their banking relationships.

It really scared me when I realized that my funds, might be stuck on the exchange for a long time, like it happened to many other people. I will never be using the exchange again. I highly advise others to not use Cryptopia either.

Cryptopia is not in a good place right now. I'd imagine they're having an overwhelming amount of new issues because, as you may know, their fiat funding just got cut.

Their main bank took them off suddenly. And Cryptopia had to scramble to make the announcement and give off some discounts in trading.

But yeah so they're suddenly getting used to crypto only, and their funding isn't there... so they're dealing with mass amounts of panic and withdrawals because people can't withdraw in fiat anymore.

I'm pretty sure they didn't have enough crypto to cover all the sudden crypto withdrawals en masse.

So it's basically a critical time. I'm glad I left cryptopia before the banking emergency came about. But I still have a little PBL there unfortunately.

You're right that there have been some serious issues with cryptopia lately, but at the end of the day they are a NZ registered organization so the liklihood of an exit scam is low.. unless the owner wants to fly off and retire in Thailand.

Thanks man for the heads up. I have an account with them and used them few weeks ago without any problem but I guess I'm also quite lucky like you. I'd stay away from them for the time being until they resolve these issues. An article regarding their different wallets not being updated has been published in some website (let me check the link for it) and it appears that they are also unable to provide support in their wallets (regarding important updates). This is quite alarming and they should address this appropriately and accordingly.

I've been using Cryptopia recently and there were no problems. ??? I remember their support was quite fast too. I did have the same problem with HitBTC, I've been waiting for around 2 weeks for my deposit to arrive, also they've charged me a $50 deposit fee. Now I am checking twitter comments and topics here on the forum before making deposits to any exchange. All of them rob people all the time, support is useless, the future is behind decentralized exchanges anyway.

Strange.  I’ve had no issues with Topia and made a btc withdrawal just yesterday that took under an hour.

What's with the exchange problems lately - first Bitgrail, then people report problems with HitBTC, now Cryptopia - who's next?

I totally agree with you, this is why I stopped using cryptopia and holding my coins there, once this exchange also get hacked, it will be done. There are lots of good alternatives.

I've also traded with Cryptopia in the past and I must say that it worked quite well and when I had to contact support they attended me quite fast. But as issues with centralized exchanges are starting to be common, lately I'm more intro decentralized ones, like bisq; the only drawback is that you've got to let their app open for transactions to take place, but that's a fair price to pay for decentralization.

I didn't hear anything particularly bad about Cryptopia and at least their in a developed country with proper laws.
Nevertheless since I'm currently not trading, I withdrew all of my coins to private wallets, since no exchange can be assumed to be secure.

I also had no problem with withdrawals in the last couple of weeks - but since i lost some nano on Bitgrail i feel it's better to be safe than sorry.

This same thing happened to me at poloniex and hitbtc and I have to endure because I know the two exchange are trusted and later my account was credited with my withdrawal. I think delay confirmation of transactions or processing should not be a reason why people should not trade with cryptopia as many people that I know have account with this people make used of them and praise how good there are.

I'm having a problem withdrawing from Cryptopia. Every time I get to this step:

http://up.picr.de/29217750pz.jpg

The bar where I am supposed to enter the Withdraw Address is greyed out.

Same problem with PRL, LTC, BTC, NEO

I've made successful withdrawals from them in the past so I know the procedure. I'm wondering what's going on - anyone else having similar issues?

I have been using Cryptopia for some time and I have never had any issue with the exchange, although this is just another wake up call, alot happens inside these exchanges that is not known to public, I don't think they are having issue with liquidity because the trading volume on the exchange has increased drastically recently

Yeah cryptopia and hitbtc are a bit suspicious especially im concerned because they deduct a lot of coins if we want to move or withdraw some coins out of them.

Title: Re: I Highly Suggest You Do NOT Use Cryptopia
Post by: neatworld on February 14, 2018, 02:29:30 PM
It's nothing to do with fees and deducting lots of coins at this point.

My issue is that I can't withdraw anything at all.

I'm wondering what's going on here. I moved some BTC into it about a week ago to buy up some coins and tokens while they were cheap - and now I can't move those coins and tokens out. I can't even input the withdrawal address. The money I've moved in for trading seems 'stuck' there.

To be clear with what I'm facing here:

 - The last time I made a withdrawal from Cryptopia was in December, and that went just fine. No alarm bells.
 - Trading function and volume seem fine. No alarm bells.
 - WITHDRAWAL function seems disabled. Huge alarm bells.

If anyone has any insight or suggestions as to what to do, I would highly appreciate it  :(

Every exchange has got some issues. Some users were unlucky to encounter the same and for the same we cannot suggest or completely term the particular exchange website to be bad for trading purpose.

It seems that a lot of exchanges are going through some technical problems now a days. Probably due to the massive transactions being made every single day which may have led to some systems crashing. This is one risk that we have to face in this venture. And for the fees, I really wouldn’t mind paying if my earnings are more than enough to cover them.

This is going to become more common as more regulation comes to the market, exchanges are having a problem dealing with the massive amount of new users that got in bitcoin in the last months and also from regulators and banks being on their case all the time, at some point decentralized exchanges need to fill some of that gap but for now  it seems the community still does not want to make that jump, I wonder what they will need to move on to decentralized exchanges.

We are getting to the point where no exchange seems safe, every exchange you look at it seems to have some bad reputation they need to answer for, fortunately I'm mostly a holder of my coins but I wonder what it is going to happen when I really need to move my coins to an exchange when I want to cash out some of my earnings, that seems like just one more reason to hold my coins at least for the time being until exchanges become more professional.

I ended up still using cryptopia, it was the only place to get a coin that I wanted. The other exchanges I looked at had similar issues. I've recieved all of my withdrawals so far and have another one processing right now. The other night they went through almost instantly but the last couple have taken 12-18hrs to process but they are still coming through just fine. Don't forget to click the confirmation in your email each time you withdrawal!

Yeah.Cryptopia is a C class exchange, with horrible working indicators, lagging as soon as there is a small pump as well. Not surprised that they are adding nearly everything ,same as delta. If your coin is on binance or bittrex, suggest using them

That is  there are alot of shit coins are listed on cryptopia, but there are some special coins too,and I would  tell you something.Actually I'm using this site since 3 months,I tried to deposit Bitcoin and withdraw Bitcoins;buy&sell(daily trading),and the result was good.Don't know why you are not suggesting cryptopia.

it goes unresponsive mostly (on my phone) also did this on my laptop once but never happened again
plus, they charge more than other exchanges like binance, bittrex, poloniex, etc

Deposits are going smoothly but there are really huge problems with withdrawals as of now. Can't withdraw any funds for a few days already. Furthermore, support doesn't respond to tickets. I think the main reason is that they were cut off from their funds recently so they are using traders funds for now.
