Title: Is Dogecoin legit?
Post by: GumboTrader on February 13, 2018, 04:34:17 PM
I have been hearing about a lot of fraudulent altcoins out there.
Personally have been eyeing Dogecoin for a while to purchase as an altcoin. However,
I believe I came across an article that called them fake. The thing is the article did not
go into any further details.

All I want to know is if Dogecoin is a legitimate investment into altcoins? Help me
Crypto-world, what do you think?

Doge coin is already inactive/dead coin for about 2.5years which means there is not development going on,It was created just for fun a meme coin which doesnt have any use in the market, its morelikely a copy of bitcoin which has faster transaction confirmation and lower fees. Now tell me is that a good investment? no active developers and had been dead for years?if you will find more if you did your research.

Dogecoin might be good for this year as it is the year of the dog for chinese new year. Otherwise it would not be a good investment, just a fun coin to throw around and tip other people with. For a good investment pick some privacy coins due to the increasing crack down by governments - they will do well in 2018

Is a fun coin but a very stable and usable one. Many exchanges use it as a means to convert between alt coins

It is legitimate for this purpose only, transferring between exchanges and saving on fees. Besides that there really is not much use-case here but this is crypto and it has survived for 2 years beyond that. So if you want to feel secure you probably can while investing in Dogecoin because it is a coin that seemingly never dies, despite how much not development is going into it ;D.

I think dogecoin is legit but for long-term investments it's not, as some people say no progress from the project development. But lately, the price of dogecoin increases and of course be an alternative when sending from other exchange to exchange the other because doge have a low fee. So its legit for now from my opinion

Sorry for my bad English and thanks!

Yes Dogecoin is legit and a good alternative to escape from paying outrageous transaction fees from bitcoins, or other currencies. You can always convert your coins to Doge then convert it back again to BTC or ETH when you are ready to withdraw, in this way you will just be paying a small amount of transaction fee. The prices of Doge is quite stable so it is easier to manage when transferring from coins to other coins as you can easily determine the price.

I have also found Doge useful for transfers. I wouldn't hold it though.

There is a podcast with an interview of the founder Jackson Palmer. Its only about 8 minutes.

It is legit crap. Basically a joke coin that somehow got this big. Don't waste your time. But it is good for a laugh. So not a scam, but worthless and is not going anywhere.

Dogecoin is a legit coin though I know that it is dead coin. I think it made just for a joke so we cannot deny that it is also a shitcoin. If we will invest in doge for sure all of your funds that you put will gone.

It is; however, in an investment standpoint, I don't think that it is a very promising one. It has been around for years already, and although its origin point is China, I am not saying that it would be a bad coin to hold. I am saying that it lacks promise due to the fact that it haven't gained much every since its onset, and it doesn't have quite a buzz ever since. Therefore, if you are to risk a big investment on it, you should also be ready for either little profit or a long and lengthy investment.

Doge coin was never a good coin to hold, becauhse the developers are just trippin when they created this meme coin for fun.The developers are not to serious about this coin that is why they abandon this shitcoin a long time ago almost 2.5years to be exact when the last developer appearnce. It is clearly a dead shitcoin today investing to this coin would be a suicide if you ask me because it has no potential to grow in the future.

It depends what you want to use doge for do you plan to hold it as an investment? Imo it is never going to moon. But you could hold a few thousand and see if it does go anywhere. It depends on your overall strategy with crypto currency is.

Yeah, you're right. I guess that every experienced member of this market is pretty surprised why doesn't DOGE become dead since it was abandoned by the development team. But I guess the answer is pretty trivial - it's just cheap to use it.

Despite the unusual cause of the creation, Dogecoin for today is well recognized and moving on an upward trend of the crypto currency.  The positive surrounding this player and the high interest received by investors this year are likely to push the DOGE rate upwards in 2018 as well.

dogecoin is good community and good volume transaction
but total coin is very high, so dogecoin very dificult can incraese very high
dogecoin price this now is high, if you want investment is good wait until dogecoin price down to under 30 satoshi

In my opinion do not consider Dogecoin false, if it really was false would not be definitely on the market, at the present time Dogecoin is an abandoned project, pushed  by the community and the big holders of that coin. We should consider it as a fancy coin that only serves as a transaction.

How this coin would e a good long term investment? you must be dreamin my friend?it is dead for a long time.No development team means it wont have any developments. If you based a legitimacy of a coin based on its price you are indeed not doing research, price increase of doge is only because it is the year of the dog which chinese believe that it will give a lot of fortune to them and nothing more special about this coin.

It is much even better than those pump and dump coins. Dogecoin has unlimited supply and it has a very cheap transaction fees.

When bitcoin is on the part of having expensive fees, many of us here used Doge coin as a substitute for transferring funds so that we can save fees.

Yes, doge coin is a legit coin and investment and I have it holding on my portfolio.

Actually, developers participation and full support with their coins helps to cultivate of what they created. It looks like Doge is just ignored by devs that bring this coin into dead. Investing this dead coins it simply gives you nothing in return and is just a waste of time for you, maybe you should take o look for other coins rather than of having this sleeping coin.

You can still use Dogecoinfaucets, they have been around for years, like the Moondoge faucet, you can get 100 Doge easy and see what it is all about.
Nothing wrong with the coin, not much happening though.
Dogecoin basicly has a fast wallet and low transactioncosts, so it's also used to change other currencies into and send them around as Doge.

Yes dogecoin is a legit coin ( which has been online for years ) but the inconvenience with it is its exaggerated stability ( comparing to other coins ) so it's purely for long term investment & you have to have  full patience & longanimity

Title: Re: Is Dogecoin legit?

Yes its a legit coin. Normally it has been used to avoid high transaction fees of bitcoin people use it as an alternative to transfer their coins in the form of Doge for faster transaction with lower fee as well. Doge is not a high volatile coin that's why many people use it for faster transaction but for a long term investment it can be a good coin you never know.

Yes dogecoin is legit. Dogecoin is one of the first coin ever created in crypto world although the value of doge is not progressive but it's still valuable in the market cap. Also the supply og dogecoin in the market cap is sufficient and as of to day doge is one of the promising coin this year 2018.

DOGE Coin does have a solid community behind it.  It is on high volume exchanges.

Is it groundbreaking tech or anything like that?  Not in my opinion.

It is legit. Not a scam or anything like that.

The subreddit is super active with well over 100k subscribers:  https://www.reddit.com/r/dogecoin/

From the sidebar:

Quote
Superfast transactions, no network congestion & transaction fees of 1 dogecoin (about $0.01 USD!)

Designed to be actually used day to day. You could buy a cup of coffee without waiting till the shop closes for a confirmation, and also without paying anything close to the cost of the coffee in fees.

Widely accepted on exchanges; a great tool to move between other crypto-currencies and fiat FAST while keeping fees almost non-existent. (Try doing that with ANY other coin, they either don’t have the stability, reputation, volume or their fees are CONSIDERABLY higher)

One of the oldest, well established, tried and true crypto-currencies, There have been considerable ups and downs in the value of the coin in comparison to fiat and other coins however it has stood the test of time and is still widely accepted and has remained a useful tool regardless of its exchange rate. (Which is why you will see 1 Doge = 1 Doge used frequently)

Strong positive community. Projects that show humanity, kindness, generosity. Among an ocean of get rich quick schemes, scams, pumps and dumps, this is the only coin which has a community centered on the positive things that crypto-currency can do

Hope that helps!

In case you are looking for some extensive history of the DOGE meme:  http://knowyourmeme.com/memes/doge   the DOGE coin connection is pretty neat, albeit small, but not so much to those of us that follow crypto closely.

“much wow”, “very crypto”, and “such moon”

Only people who do lose up huge sums of money do called it as a fake coin which isnt true. If you do try out to trace up the history of this dogecoin then you might be shocked since this coins is almost nearly aged with bitcoin which means its been here for how many years already but still do have the value even though it is low which is considerable seeing only into its total supply then its normal to think off.

I left dogecoin a year ago because after hold almost 6 month I got nothing. Even today there's a lot of information, articles or positive news about dogecoin I'll ignore it. I only use dogecoin to support my transaction if bitcoin network has delay and wasting time collect from doge faucet. About invest/ trade in doge the answer is still the same, " No ".

Any crypto coin has very big risk. Since it is only digital asset investment. But it is very good for trader since the fluctuation price is significant and its price is very cheap, the day trader can get huge income from this coin. If you want lomg term investment then I will suggest you to buy XCPO, it is masternode coin, you also can stake it. One of good coin which also provide pasive income. Its developer will launch ecommerce marketplace in march then we can use our coin to buy goods in that platform because they not only accept XCPO or btc but many more coin are accepted in the platform.

Dogecoin is an Altcoin designed to multiply the user population larger than Bitcoin. In addition, Markus, the developer behind it, wants to keep Dogecoin happy, to stay away from Bitcoin's controversial past (for example, Bitcoin is being widely used in black markets like Silk Road) . So I think it's legal

dogecoin is like the coin that's was there for a long time with dead updates, people still mining and using it because it's cheap for transfer, with btc price skyrocket (i know it's cheaper now), using doge to transfer between exchange can save you a dollar or two.

Dogecoin is the best.  It's living proof of the resiliency of the blockchain.
It's like a living paradox: there are no developers meaning it is "dead" yet there is a small community that actually uses it.

Every once in a while, a newbie comes on here and asks if dogecoin is a good investment.
Mostly, I think they ask that because they see how cheap it is and hope to find the next big thing.

For coins like this, you shouldn't be asking if it is a good investment or not.
Not everything about crypto is money money money.
You should ask how to get connected to the community and how to use it.

Last nov/dec, doge saw a pretty crazy pump in price.
That was because there was about a straight month time period where noobs were buying "cheap" coins left and right.
So, are you a noob or an informed investor?
