Title: NVIDIA EVGA 1080 TI's running at different temps? Is one going to bake itself? Post by: COLT601 on February 14, 2018, 12:20:16 AM I've got an ibuypower computer with two Nvidia EVGA 1080TI's in it running nicehash when the computer isn't in use. One of the GPU's is at 84*C and the other stays at 75*C. Any idea why there is such a difference between them, and how can I set the temperature limits for the cards? What is the max safe temp for these cards? Unfortunately the computer is 400 miles away and I can't remotely access it to make any changes until Friday. So hopefully I'm not nuking one of my brand new cards.

Those chips are designed to operate 24/7 even at 94C. Temperature differences between same cards are normal, it can be anything. From a chip with higher leakage ( hotter chip at the same frequencies, voltages & cooling ) to a not as good applied thermal paste between the GPU core and the heatsink, or even just being closer to a warmer spot inside the computer case. Use MSI Afterburner, or eVGA Precision X to adjust the fan speeds and change them accordingly to keep both cards at around 70C if you want to achieve the max longevity ( lifespan ) of the cards. Or open air in risers? If they are in the case that temp difference is normal as the second card is being heated up by the first.
