Title: Vircurex appears not to be dead - and devs are trying to return frozen funds
Post by: funnynuffy on February 14, 2018, 12:49:31 PM
Hi guys!

I am one of those, who have frozen stuff on Vircurex (https://vircurex.com/) - and I didnt hope that there will be some progress.
But it looks like, the developers - or whoever is keeping it alive - are still kicking and trying to fix the catastrophy that happened. They unfroze the TRC deposits ppl had there recently and now even more good news from Yesterday:
2018-02-13: 1.25 BTC and 37 LTC returned to frozen fund holders NEW
The profit of 1.25 BTC and 37 LTC from Q4 2017 have been distributed to users with frozen funds. We have applied the same logic as in the past. Half the funds are distributed to users with the largest frozen funds and half to the users with the least amount of frozen funds. If you still have frozen funds, please bear with us. We will distribute all Vircurex profits every quarter.

It is terribly low amount of money - but if we give them a bit trust and boost trading there, it would help to unfreeze all funds and make all happy. But all this wont happen without liquidity. If You were lucky and earned millions - You can help the others by trying to trade there and be praised forever :D

Btw - does anyone know who is behind Vircurex now - keeping it away from total death? Cause original guy who ran away with money is probably no longer involved, right?
Cause i would like to propose an agreement like the one on btc-e - that I would give up part of my funds, to cover payout for other unlucky guys - in trade of unfreezing rest of my funds.

thanks ...

I believe it may be Kumala aka Andreas Eckert, this chap has been taken to court and is being sued.

I guess he is trying to do the right thing, if it is the same person / group.

I too have been touching base with the exchange, it was pretty good back in the day.

I have had my Quark, Doge, Terracoin and BTC released, the TRC and Quark were released recently.

My LTC are still on there though.

I check almost every week in hope of an early un-freeze.

best of luck.

FTR the last time i was credited my BTC was .5 BTC in March 2014 there is another small BTC balance adjustment but that is small in comparison.

Most recent unfreezes were:
14 Feb 2017 02:42   19.80000000   QRK   Balance adjustment
04 Jan 2017 18:11   -24.95000001   TRC   Withdrawal
03 Jan 2017 08:04   24.95000001   TRC   Balance adjustment
01 Jan 2017 04:15   0.00008479   BTC   Balance adjustment
15 Nov 2016 21:28   -24.95000001   TRC   Withdrawal,
15 Nov 2016 21:27   -19.80000000   QRK   Withdrawal
15 Nov 2016 21:26   -3,000.00000000   DOGE   Withdrawal
18 Dec 2016 01:59   -21.00000000   WDC   Withdrawal

i am hopeful but its better when its back in my wallet.

So you're suggesting people to trade on an exchange with an existing withdrawal problem?
It seems you didn't consider that these people that would go, deposit and trade will be stucked too on the process?

You'll get paid, but these newcomers wouldn't. Much like a ponzi now?

So has anyone been able to access this website in the past several months? It appears to be down and no discussion on Reddit about it...

Welp. My last visit was 6 months ago

I'm getting a 502 on vircurex.com now. I think it's gone.
Checked it and I'm getting the same error

Pretty sure they're long gone, and honestly it was barely hanging even when the site was still up.

Are you perhaps one of the users who have funds there?

250 real LTC? or 250 "lost" LTC to be "repaid?"

So in addition to BCH... what about bitcoin gold, or bitcoin SV???

I wonder how much value Vircurex has available to them if they access those funds...

AFAIK this Andreas Eckert aka Kumala is being taken to court with a class action over this.

Anyone else have any more recent news as their BTC holdings would have likely gone up exponentially given current prices but are very likely and typically keeping them fat at other peoples losses.

May a dark cloud of fear and paranoia follow them wherever they go.

I would love to know who I can get in touch with to go further down the rabbit hole here. I don't know who to contact about the class action lawsuit, but did find this link.

Not sure ifbthese 25 pages offer any useful info...
