Title: [Pictures] ANACS new slabs
Post by: Blazed on February 14, 2018, 02:18:24 PM
These are pretty ugly, but I get why the added the warning. Love the quality of the hologram on that second slab...almost looks like a 12 year old applied it.

So these ugly cases were the reason for the months of delay? They were definitely NOT worth it.

yeah, not looking very professional. At least the old design was clean. I don't think I'll be sending in Kialara error coins for grading at ANACS. Maybe ICG  :P

Unreal.  Ugly as hell.  Not to mention that they practically put a glowing neon sign on these placing doubt in the mind of anyone considering purchasing a physical crypto that the digital value might not actually be on the coin.

If they gave me a choice, I would have just had them return them raw rather than put them in these monstrosities.

Thanks ANACS.   >:(

Blazed, maybe you need to start your own grading certification company for physical cryptos. You could add features like a balance check QR code, a warning alert for reports of compromised coins, and a record keeping option for chain of custody.

I did the math on this as as few of us were considering such a venture.  There is simply not enough volume (revenue) to cover operating costs (insurance, facility, admin, etc..)

Edit to add:  new label is horrible and that warning will scare away any new collectors.  The application of the hologram shows how little they care about looking professional.  Fuck ANACS!

If you are thinking in terms of a traditional corporation, yes. However, drop the idea of having a warehouse or store front and only do coin shows with grading and slabbing on site. The insurance would be covered by the promoter of the show. I believe there are ways to do this without requiring the same kind of volume that ANACS needs.

Edit: there are certifications you can get to be an appraiser for insurance purposes. I am not sure what else is really required besides demonstrating competency in consistently grading coins and having nice looking tamper-proof slabs.

It's pretty terrible.  No two ways about it.  Hoping ICG doesn't get the same idea about bastardizing their label with some dumb disclaimer that likely offers them no real legal protection anyway.

Wow Blazed, they just don't care at all do they?  The fact they sent those to someone who I have to think is one of their largest crypto customers sums up their attitude towards us.

FUCK ANACS!

ICG here I come.

those do look terrible. if we stop using ANACS this will have been wasted money on their end and it should send a strong message from our community.

has anyone ever received an ANACS graded Cas or similar from someone outside of this forum or is it mainly us sending these in and circulating them?

No, they did the exact same to me.

I just got two coins back today and the holograms look even crappier. I called and talked to "Paul" and gave him a piece of my mind about the delays, the lies, and the SHITTY cracked/scraped up hologram. He offered to fix the holograms if I send them back, however, I made it clear to him that I'm not the only one seeing this, and that he should probably go check his packages going out the door, cuz quality control is utter shit.

Anyhow, it devolved from there - He even offered to just pull the rest of my orders off and just send them back, and I said, "Oh no motherfucker, you guys need to grade those orders, then I'll be done with you, since it's pretty clear you don't give 2 shits about crypto-people. He clearly indicated that he didn't 2 shits about me indeed, so then I Told him "great, I'll be sending back my coins postage-due and that they can also send them back for free, thank you sir! ... Then I just hung up.

Not sure I want to wait another 2 months to fix their stupid mistakes... You should see these two coins, what a fucking joke.

I also told him that the dark green totally sucks, as it's harder to read the black text now... He said that wouldn't be changed either.

So yeah... FUCK ANACS!!!!

Edit - I did ask if I would be charged 29 for the rest, and he said no, 19 it would be for backorders.

IS THIS ACCEPTABLE?  ??? ???

I have been outspoken against ANACS in the past because I think they are terrible at maintaining consistency.  I actually like the new green labels over the ugly yellow ones though and think it's nice they are being honest by pointing out that they have no idea about the actual crypto value.

That being said, those holograms are ridiculous.  Maybe they were trying to get rid of their damaged ones first or something?  I'd send them back to be redone and ask for some sort of future discount for your trouble.  I also agree that finding a replacement that cares about the community, or having someone here with the time and experience to start their own grading service are great ideas.

Send them to ICG for cross grade, that is my plan.  If we do that with a bunch of coins we can get an idea of how the grades compare.

Thanks. I think it's more than clear that they are just rush-jobbing this shit out, smallest orders first.  :P

I'm going to be emailing them tonight with all the photos - What bothers me is that I still have two larger orders stuck there. The guy was so fed up with me earlier he was going to just send them back. I may request that be done after all, as some are again, not my coins.  Fuck this sucks, Totally blew my week and it's only Wednesday.

In other news, prayers and thoughts out to the people & families involved in the latest stupid USA high school shooting.... :(

Clearly, QC is absent here. It's almost like they are just ripping us off and telling us all to get fucked at the same time. Talk about feeling screwed. I almost want my money back at this point, as cracking them all and sending to the other place is not going to be cheap either, plus it's even more fucking time... :(

Would love to throw stones, but I bet their office is a some piece of shit rental with a few receptionists... Wouldn't want to hurt them, they are only relaying Paul's lies all this time. IN FACT, I was told back in January (early) that EVERYTHING sent before 1/1 would get the old labels. They sure fucked that up, didn't they, as it would have helped them get through the backorders now.... :(

As you are well aware, some people/businesses are only interested in making as much money as they can.  I've found it's best to avoid these types of people/businesses.

It does please me to no longer be the only voice talking about how terrible this company is.  I can only imagine all the OCD types now trying to figure out if they are going to break open all their slabs or have them all redone so they can be the same color.  :-X

You mean peel and sweep.  That has been a worry that they at some point will have a rougue employee who who wait for a good "batch" to come in and hit it hard.  Sounds paranoid but this exists for any company you send a coin to.  Just takes one dopehead to get his hands on a couple hundred thousands of dollars to wipe out your stack

How about not using any coin grading service at all as long as you have eye(s).

Anacs altered their grading behavior in the past which sucks in addition.

There are a lot of reasons to want to slab cryptocoins, as much as any other type of coin.  I think what most are upset about is that we had a nice thing going with ANACS until they decided to alter the process to the degree they have.  Granted, not perfect, but it was tolerable.  Now they've tanked the whole program for us.

So at this point there is either the ICG option or keeping them raw.  So I guess collectors will choose one or the other at this point.

As I have noted a few times, it's actually like they want to ditch us as customers, but also just take our money and not do any QC if not.

Paul DeFelice is a fucking lying prick, and I hope he gets fired, as I'm writing a letter to his boss outlining how he fucked the whole program over with his lies and delays... Fucking idiots should have kept grading under the old labels until they were ready. Instead, they held our coins hostage, and gave us shit and/or lied when we complained, now they have a huge backlog to deal with. Fucking morons of the highest order.

BTW here is his twitter. Feel free to yell at him as I did yesterday via phone - Am I really the only one who dares yell at the fucking douchenozzles for fucking us over for months? ???

Agreed, that new slab looks terrible.   I don't understand how they look at that and think it looks professional.   I'm actually OK with them not certifying the bitcoin value for legal reasons.   The scams that have happened on here with Alitin and such put them at risk for a lawsuit if the coin says "funded".

Maybe some good will come out of this.   Maybe they will see these complaints and make new holders and the coins graded in these will become "Ultra rare ANACS butt-ugly slabs".

No. They won't do any of that. I talked at length with Paul DeFelice yesterday, and explained all this shit. Here is the result:

1. Regarding slab "Warning" - It's for new people so they won't blame anacs. I questioned the actual use of that in court, then he got REALLY defensive. I told him, "anyone buying crypto coins should know this already" but he doesnt' care, it's about protecting new people (Sounded like new people meaning old men who collect normal coins lol).

2. The slab color will not be changed from Green, nor will the text be changed to white for proper visibility (That's a hard NO on both, straight from the scumbag liars mouth).

3. The most I have gotten is a "Chance" to return my coins for holo fixes, and a reholder for the hair in my slab.

4. They seriously don't care about us - After I got pissed at him, he tried to send all my coins back ungraded.. Fuck that, I paid them, so I said grade them, then I'll send them all back for repair since your hologram is shit now.

Fuck Anacs from now on.....  :(

Yeah.....not sure what might have caused them to do that.   ;)

Still, they have conducted themselves horribly over the last few months.  I wouldn't be shocked if they up and decided to stop accepting crypto submissions altogether.  Which is fine with me since I will never send another coin to them.

I don't really have a problem with the new green slab design. The overall quality of their work is the problem. Badly graded coins, badly placed holograms, general lack of professionalism etc.

It's tracked the whole way, and only specific people can deliver registered mail as well. That's why it takes longer, but you almost never lose registered mail.

ANACS has also reminded me why I hate USPS Registered Mail.  Takes half a century for a package to go from one coast of the USA to the other.   >:(

I just ran into this a couple weeks ago except the package was only going a short distance.  I was under the impression Registered was a higher level of quality than Priority but I haven't seen it recently.

They seem to be shipping all cryptos via usps registered mail. Which is safer than UPS, but does take longer...
It's tracked the whole way, and only specific people can deliver registered mail as well. That's why it takes longer, but you almost never lose registered mail.

Registered is the best if you are not in a rush. Not only is the package signed for every time someone handles it, but it is also stored in a safe at each location. USPS Registered is the safest way to ship in the USA hands down. I do agree having to show up at the post office is a hassle, but with the value of these coins it is well worth it imo.

I get it.  Definitely a nice thing to be assured of getting your stuff.  That said I've had it take over a month to get packages back from PCGS.  I don't care how safe Registered Mail is, a month is just ridiculous.  FFS we can blast cars into space but we can't get a package coast to coast in under a month?

Jupityr...I agree...a month is ridiculous....that's if your lucky...I had a package from Florida to NYC take about 6 weeks to arrive after getting STUCK in the same distribution center for 3 weeks without moving at all. And this was only 20 blocks away from my post office!

UGH just finally sent all my coins in to be graded after holding for YEARS and they never made any mention of a new stupid green label with disclaimer.

Also the new $100 max value on all crypto coins means that you can't get them shipped back fully insured with their crypto value as well.

Thanks ANACS!

wow man that green is an eye sore and the phrase "crypto-themed physical token" is horrendous. why not just "This coin is evaluated for condition and wear only. Actual cryptocurrency value is neither confirmed nor guaranteed by ANACS". then those authenticated holograms are just icing on the cake  ::)

so they were using green for around 3 months? I lost interest in them after all this baloney, bad labeling, un-insured coins bla bla bla.

I got some greens, are they worth double now then?  ::)  ;D ;D

The updated slabs are a much better contrast between the font and background colors.  I still prefer the original yellow.   ;D

credit to minerjones actually, he pointed the ebay auction out to me earlier.  Nothing gets by the mantis.

I prefer the ICG slabs myself, much more professional looking in every way.
