Post by: ronimacarroni on September 15, 2013, 04:16:42 PM
Here is my alt strategy

1.buy alts
2.make money
3.use the money earned to gamble
4.lose money earned

I think I might skip 3 and 4 from now on

1. try to mine alts with 1 7970
2. switch pools manually if needed (without raping the coin's difficulty too much)
3. get paid for adding an ad in my signature
4. writing some articles for cryptocoinsnews & hope they get published
5. see 1

1.  Mine the highest rated coin on coinchoose using automated mining based on profitability, or one of the many autoexchanging pools that are cropping up.
2.  Autosell each coin on exchange for bitcoin.
3.  Feel guilty about participating in the altcoin gang beat down that continues to destroy every single altcoin that dares try to make its way to the top, all in the name of profit.
4.  Pray that some sucker continues to buy the altcoins I'm mining that continue to lose value so that I can keep the ponzi going.
5.  Hope that new victims (altcoins) keep getting created to replace the ones that we have all killed.
6.  ???
7.  Profit!

Yeah this scenario sucks but unfortunately that's what's happening to the altcoin market.  Where does it all end up?  I dunno.  Do I want to be part of the problem?  Nope, but it's not really a problem more than the reality of the market.  I have no idea where it's going or where it ends up.  I am just participating in this "eating of our young" like everyone else.

I think I need a good cry and a shower now.

Well its been been a fun experiment but I think I'm out.
I used to root for BQC because it had a nice history/block time, but then I learned that the developers only care about the miners bottom line rather than having the coin succeed.
I also used to root for cyptogenic bullions but I got skiddish after I learned that the has to be new block creation in order for transactions to happen.
If it works out I'm going for it all the way. It'd be nice to finally have a coin without that pesky miners inflation.
I also might get some digital coins in the future if more digital coins casinos pop up. Bitcoin's confirmation time is too slow for my taste.
Well that's my two satoshis.

Mine coins that are pretty near free, that are going to get picked up by pools and exchanges eventually.

For example look at I0Coin and GRouPcoin, CoiLedCoin and GeistGeld.

Not long ago you could merged mine all of them pretty much for free, raking in lots and lots of coins even with hardly any hashing power.

Now though bitparking's mmpool as added I0Coin back into its merge, and also added GRouPcoin into its merge, and I0Coin is traded on Vircurex and GRouPcoin will probably also soon be traded on Vircurex.

The number of I0Coins and GRouPcoins you get per day now is tiny compared to what it was before mmpool added them, the number of CoiLedCoins and GeistGeld you get per day will similarly drop like crazy as soon as merged mining pools add them. So for a long long time all four were great things to be mining even if you only had one or two GPUs. Now only two of them are still great. How long before those remaining two skyrocket in difficulty due to being picked up by major pools? We don't know, but until that happens you can still pick them up in nice quantities simply by doing your own merged mining.

The payoff looks like it is pretty good: the prices of I0Coins and GRouPcoins look like they will be much higher on web based exchanges than they had been over the counter and via Open Transactions.

This is similar to the fortunes made by people CPU-mining BBQcoin last year; in both cases it is simply a matter of mining while they are super low difficulty coins that are destined to get picked up some day by the masses. BBQcoin though was different from all the crapcoins that came later, because it was the early-bird of the lot. Nowadays the merged mined coins look like much better bets. Especially when you take into account you get to mine them all virtually free alongside your existing merge.
