Merit system become bothersome for low ranked member. After analyzing each and every opinions of different ranked member. There are various advantages, disadvantages and drawbacks in Merit system.

Advantages-

• Merit system helps us to explore some new aspects of this forum as everyone is now curious to take part in the discussion with more solidity.
• Now we can see there are less no. of participants in the posting in the forum because it requires lots of research before posting where it requires more time to think over a solid topic & drawdown it's conclusion.
• It encourages shit posters to come with strong study to get merited from the merit sources.

Disadvantages-

• Everyone is not perfect at the beginning. The hoard of getting merit points make everyone selfish about there rankings in the forum. Newcomers have no respect for the hero/ legendary and other higher ranked person. Newcomers called them corrupted as they are merit givers only for those person who pay for the merits. They don't know how difficult is to reach at higher posts & is more difficult to manage themselves on that position.  
  
• Everyone is trying to get on-board as it give them more crowd and they get noticed. Comments in the topic now becoming the topic of new thread.
  Different day with same topic 'The merit system Blaaa!... Blaaa!.' Everyone is now more concerned with merit system. Criticizing other is now become the practice in the forum.

I respect your opinion, but I do not think legendary/hero members sell merit points to other members. You should respect their decision whether or not they want to merit your post. The merit system is not perfect and it surely has flaws. But people should accept these flaws and try to adapt to the system. Good luck, brother!

because they can't rank up asap and therefore they can't enroll in a signature campaign to earn btc or eth.

Let's be honest, that's the only reason why a newbie member would complain about the merit system. Being Sr, Hero, or even Legendary member  doesn't give you any advantages in the forum other than the possiblity of getting higher payments in sig campaigns. If you made a an acc in this forum just because you want to talk about bitcoin and whatnot, then the merit system shouldn't be bothersome at all.

and how are butthurt newbies and shitposters/spammers spewing nonsense a disadvantage? if anything it means that the system is actually working at stopping these users from getting high ranks.

Have you witnessed the same you are talking about. If you have, i will give you my all merit points. I think you are trying to grab only merit points.
If you don't, How you can draw down any conclusion? Why you are trying to make these rubbish posts?
Trying to rotate the same topic once again.
The whole process is not the disadvantage, you are making disadvantageous for everyone by making meaningless posts.

So try different topics other than merit system.
Make some solidity in your posts. You automatically get the merits you want.

The way I see merit system I think it is a fair assessment this forum can provide to all its users since ranking up just by having a complete number of post count did not give justice to the quality of post a user have. But like in every system there is always advantage and disadvantage, for now let us embrace the new system as much as we should focus on providing a quality and helpful inputs in whatever topic we intend to make comments.

This is done mainly because members see most of the posts in meta section getting merit points. Initially when the system was launched, members were not aware about using smerits wisely. This is the only reason why there were posts getting 10-20 merits in meta section. Some members are trying to copy same approach for merits.
