Title: Confusingly confused about connecting
Post by: vernonro on July 17, 2011, 04:12:21 AM
SO im not very technical, as in, programming code makes no sense along with most jargon. I thought this would be cool to get started in and I can never connect to anything

I created an account, a worker, and a wallet, but I started it up and come next morning its still 'connecting', and its been doing this since i started. Im using BTC guild if it helps

Running command: poclbm.exe --user=XXXXXX --pass= |;)not4u| -o uscentral.btcguild.com -p 8332 -d0 --verbose
Listener for "Default" started

I have no idea what it means, all I know is it does this and then nothing happens,
my internet connection is fine,
Im using wifi since this is my laptop

If you know how to fix it, please gimme a step by step instruction and where they can be found, b/c computer jargon is beyond my vocabulary level atm.

If you want to know techy details about the laptop or, your gunna have to tell me where to find them as well >.>

Thanks for any help

Im using GUIMiner - v2011-05-01

If you don't know what you're doing, start by finding and getting the latest version of guiminer which is 2011-07-01 I think.

From what you posted there, is your worker password " |;)not4u|" with a space as the first character? That could be why it's failing, try switching to a password without spaces.

Usually when guiminer sticks on Connecting... it's failing the login attempt to the pool because of a mismatched password or something. Well either that or the pool itself is down, but that's rare, and I know btcguild is up right now because I just connected to it.
