Title: unfunded/redeemed casascius prices
Post by: European Central Bank on February 16, 2018, 02:48:38 AM
i've been noticing some pretty high prices for redeemed casascius coins on ebay specifically.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Physical-Casascius-1-Bit-coin-Unfunded-2012-coin-no-value-loaded-Free-Postage/282840851287?hash=item41daa0e357:g:jxAAAOSwp-Rabx9t

are these prices the new norm or is this a blip?

i bought a redeemed 5 btc casascius coin for $10 a few years back. are they now properly heading into collector territory?

Wow..very high..probably since some people cannot afford loaded versions they want a redeemed one at a steep cost

Time to factor it into the peel value  ::)

There's a few of us here who found out about this world via Ebay, myself included.  While I'm not saying the market on ebay isn't a bit over inflated, it shouldn't totally be ignored.   You won't find an empty Cas 5 BTC blank here for 10 bucks anymore or anywhere close to it.

I honestly don't value them that high but each collector can value their own pieces at whatever they'd like.  For me, maybe around $50-100 each and a bit more if in completely pristine condition.

I think the brass redeemed ones are a lot more easy to fake if they do not have the hologram,,

i've seen plenty of tribute coins with different designs on the rear. the front looks the same but the ones i've seen tend to be much deeper castings. i guess your average person wouldn't know it was different but they are so far...

Perhaps if they have the keys still with the coins, people are hoping to pickup any unclaimed shitcoins ... ?

so far i haven't seen any sold with no sign of a hologram or a key. i'd be interested to know if they would achieve significantly less money or not. i guess it's likely.

it's possible people will be looking for shitforks. there are so many that the redeemer probably can't keep up with them.

Didnt really have intentions of selling it, but if 1btc brasses are 2k.... I wonder what a redeemed 25btc would fetch there... hmmm...

I was thinking about that also but it's highly dependent on when the coin was unloaded and if they claimed the forks available when they redeemed.  I would think most redeem the forks but exceptions remain.

True. Unless they are expecting a run on clams ....

if the coins were moved out of it at that point then it won't be eligible for any of them as far as i know. the first one it would've qualified for is clams which happened in may 2014.

this gives a rundown of many of them - https://btcdiv.com

Is this for real? Just found an old redeemed 2013 brass. Got to try it out :) What value does the forum assign to them?

eBay regularly offers free auction placement and such. Never used them for selling before. OP's links, how does one tell if they reflect prices where things actually traded?

I know people swear by ebay but in my short selling time on there i had 2 different times when someone tried getting a refund from paypal for single satori chips and once for a gpu.  I won all 3 times because i documented it right but i would expect that to go flawless each time....just be careful, id much rather take lower prices here taking escrow than dealing on that scammy site.

I sell Video games often on there and have no problems.  But I wouldn't Sell anything worth more than say $500 on there.  Too much risk imo.

Selling loaded is a different story.  Selling anything unfunded is a straight up market just as any.  The markets also much larger, and has plenty of informed buyers from on and off this board.  You're also fully protected as long as you're not dealing with funded coins.  Ebay/PayPal is a scum sucking parasite, but a necessary one sometimes.

a bunch depends on what you sell. if you're selling phones then you'll get nothing but scammy assholes. if you're selling high end camera equipment then you get a better class of buyer. I've sold big buck camera stuff and never had a problem. i wouldn't risk many other types of goods.

those are all sold prices. dunno whether they were paid for.

this forum will give you a lot, lot less money than ebay.

Fwiw the satori coins at the time were going for $40 each.  Some people are scum suckers and will try to chargeback on anything.  But  yeah loaded coins that is my last time on ebay for them

But this is specifically a Paypal and not eBay problem? Some EU sellers insist on SEPA/IBAN transfers and do not accept Paypal, dont know how common this is for US'ians. Would this be a safe way to use eBay as a seller of funded items, or are there eBay specific regs that could extend liability further?

No clue ive always used paypal but i also got an email from evay stating i couldnt sell these items (coins) on ebay anymore so it was a mix of ebay booting my sales and people also trying to chargeback from paypal.  Along with the fees involved it was my last attempt there and will stick to these forums.  Again thats just me people have had great success on there just sharing my experience

You can check here. https://www.forkexplorer.com/

If no btc was on the address prior to forks..you got nothing. Address had to have been loaded
