Title: high, low, last, buy, sell, avg
Post by: karlb on September 17, 2013, 02:18:44 PM
Okay, so these markers to do with trading.
looking here: https://btc-e.com/api/2/ltc_btc/ticker
I can understand what buy and sell are, the buying price and the selling price, but the others are a bit more vague.
what do high and low mean? the highest and lowest buying price? or the highest and lowest selling price?
What does last mean? what is average an average of?
volume? is this the amount traded? in what period?
vol_cur? what is that?

And do all websites have the same definition of these terms? like on mtGox do they mean the same as on btc-e?

Thanks

Remember that sell and buy are just two sides of a trade. High and low is the highest and lowest trade in a time period. Average is the average price traded in a time period. Volume is the amount of money being traded. Not sure what vol_cur is.

Buy and sell are, respectively, the lowest offer (what you would have to pay to buy) and the highest bid (what you would get if you sell). Does not mean that a trade has actually taken place at this price.
High and low are the highest and lowest trades in the last 24 hours.
Last is the price of the most recent trade.
Average is the average price over the last 24 hours (volume divided by vol_cur).
Volume is the number of bitcoins traded in the last 24 hours.
Vol_cur is the number of currency units (litecoins in this case) traded for those bitcoins.
