Title: Litecoin Cash Fork (is Sha-256) and old ASIC revival, questioning if worth it? Post by: Searing on February 16, 2018, 07:29:13 AM Anyone have any idea if drag'ing out the Swedish ASIC KNCminer 550gh sha-256 Jupiter is worth doing to mine Litecoin Cash on Feb 19th launch? it will fork then, but will fork to sha-256...so unclear with change of protocol if difficulty will start from the floor again? no idea or guess on this is even worth it...but than again after GARLICOIN last week...all things are possible (till they fork again) :) let me know what folk think...worse that happens I break even on firing the old knc jupiters up for heat this winter and nostalgia for a few days/weeks for fun and funny (likely worthless) litecoin cash FORK money thoughts? brad pile in here...this may not make any sense, but looking for an excuse to put them back up and heat the basement, (if this all comes to naught) also, any other equipment of a Sha-256 nature, planning on piling on this? or just too silly? Post by: Searing on February 21, 2018, 03:22:14 AM Someone pointed a T9 at LCC and got like 2 LCC in 24 hours...so NOPE ...them KNC 550gh ASIC sha-256 miners from 2013 and at 750 watts ..sure are not worth putting up... if something changes let me know...but not looking worth it ...(or much better with a T9) ...so less work for me....I have 440 LTC I will now ponder my naval and my 4,400 LCC hoard (soon to be worth in total...$23.22 usd...if I am any judge of coin) :) brad Title: Re: Litecoin Cash Fork (is Sha-256) and old ASIC revival, questioning if worth it? Title: Re: Litecoin Cash Fork (is Sha-256) and old ASIC revival, questioning if worth it? Post by: MarkAz on February 22, 2018, 07:05:59 AM I threw some of my BTC into LTC for the fork - why not, let's see what happens... The consensus is that it's a scam, but all they really were able to do is pre-allocate a bunch of LCC in their 'genesis' block - but that's worth nothing unless the coin gains some traction. I think the idea of having an alternative coin that uses SHA256 and based off of LTC is interesting, and if they actually do some dev, then it might be helpful - when TX fees got super high, I used LTC to move funds around as it was much easier to quickly move in and out of things.
I will say this, their premise that this somehow gives new life to old SHA256 hardware is kind of a joke - assuming this does get traction and becomes more profitable, the mainstream miners will point their new rigs at it. Your old S5 isn't going to somehow do better on this than on BTC - it will just amount to a larger percentage of the total hashrate, but on a coin with a radically lower valuation. Right now it's all a bit of pipe dreams though - they've done the fork, the network is 'alive', and now we'll just see how many miners point their rigs over to it and support it. Unfortunately, you have to sync the whole LTC block chain to activate your wallet. 5 years of block chain history. Takes a while....

From what I was told an S9 does not really do well with LCC yet for output...thus and old knc neptune or 550gh Jupiter (at 10c kwh) probably does not cut it as well just saying what I've been told.....so much for the 'revival' of OLD ASIC machines for making LCC oh well, back to doorstops for the knc 550gh jupiters....:( Title: Re: Litecoin Cash Fork (is Sha-256) and old ASIC revival, questioning if worth it? That's why at the moment it's probably not worth mining it. Title: Re: Litecoin Cash Fork (is Sha-256) and old ASIC revival, questioning if worth it? Post by: BenRickert on February 23, 2018, 02:15:30 PM I made 15 LCC in last 24 hours with 1 S9. LCC is $5.00 USD. Yeah....you're right...."not worth it" at all!! LMAO!!

LMAO!! well I'll have to tell my buddy he had an S9 and only made 4 LCC...or I suppose the difficulty has gotten easier or rewards etc maybe? still my 550gh KNC Jupiter MIGHT under your senario be worth tossing up as a space heater...so unsure yet not a big deal..got 440 LTC at the fork...that is 4,400 LCC...so yeah, sure, I hope LCC has 'legs' I'll let it ride..but I ASSUME that when the other exchanges chime in the price will drop on such fluidness? Ah...I see.... a tangled web, as they say... IF LCC would have stuck to the same amount of coins in existence as LTC and still offered say coins to fork at a 10x or 5x per LTC...they would be in better shape...IMHO, but 10x the coins of LTC in lifetime..210,000,000 LCC coins total, well everyone (or at least me) it is kinda just: Meh! (er shrug?) So, I shall sit on my 4,400 LCC 'supposed hoard' like my BCH/BCD/BCG and the rest of god knows other 'forked' coins I have ...attached like barnacles to my various many flavored blockchains and not sell any.....best to just let it ride IMHO (esp since on bitcoin talk I told everyone BCH would dump to 12c at launch) so, chump or champ on above ...letting them ride...will do the same with LCC and any other 'forked' coins, that fall out of the sky in the future...you never know...crypto is 'odd', don't ya know...
