Title: Tealet - Farm-Direct Tea Marketplace now accepts Bitcoin
Post by: Tealet on September 17, 2013, 04:05:18 PM
Greetings Bitcoin community,

Tealet (http://tealet.com/bitcoin) is on a mission to cut out the inefficiencies in the global tea distribution system; securing more profits for the producer and better quality tea for the consumer. We are now accepting Bitcoin as payment for our farm-direct tea so we can cut out some of the inefficiencies of our global financial systems.

We passionately believe that society can all make wiser consumption decisions if we are better connected with producers and can interact on a transparent platform.

Our network of growers includes 20 farmers from 9 different countries. They are producing an array of loose-leaf tea coming from a single origin, preserving the unique terroir of every farm.

We hope you will join us on an exploration around the world through tea. Develop into a tea connoissuer through our popular bi-monthly Global Tea Taster subscription. Be one of the first to complete payment with Bitcoin to receive a FREE sample of Hawaii Grown Tea.*

Buy farm-direct tea with Bitcoin now. (http://tealet.com/bitcoin)

Each Subscription Shipment Includes:
  • 60 grams of Loose-Leaf Tea
You’ll enjoy 60 grams of a variety of teas direct from the grower. This two month supply is enough to make 120 cups of tea, so please share with your friends and coworkers.
  • Personalized Stories of Each Grower
Connect with each grower and learn more about their community and tea cultivation history.
  • Interactive Pouring and Tasting Knowledge
We provide online videos and content for each tea so that you can further your personal exploration into tea.

I can confirm that this company is legit, and the teas are of excellent quality and delicious.  I went to business school with Elyse and was one of the first customers of her premium tea subscription service.  I am delighted that they took the next step in accepting Bitcoin payment.  One of their next steps is to figure out how to further streamline the business by using Bitcoin to pay the farmers directly in the 9 countries, which would be both faster and lower cost than existing methods of international payments.

This is a huge step for Hawaii, and I can't think of a better business to be a champion and an early embracer of Bitcoin. This is the kind of company we as a community need to support and advocate for as the effects of the conscious consumerism that Tealet promotes can have have a positive impact on the global Bitcoin economy.

bookmarked the site.
love the design
gotta love the fact that tea is quite easy to send by mail

Maybe will order something in the future, but thing I've most interested in - buying some real Stevia with bitcoins. Not a tea, but kinda close to it. You could distribute it as well, as a byproduct, for those who like their tea sweet but healthy.

UPD:IMHO in the "growers" page some photoshopped photos look really off-putting.

This guy seems to have been consuming a different type of plant:

edit: Anyway the best tea is from Sri Lanka. You should reach out to estates there.

Mahalo for the comments. We are definitely thinking about the possibilities we could have in other industries, it's just a matter of time. We are trying really hard to prove this out in tea first and then experiment with other globally traded high quality products.

Tealet ships to customers around the world including Europe.  Customs delays vary by country though.

We are happy that many of you have received and enjoyed your tea already.  ;D For the international orders that have yet to arrive I am very sorry. This is something that we are learning about. Customs of different countries treat shipments differently. Sometimes orders take days or sometimes weeks. We will follow up with everyone individually to see if you received your order or if we will need to ship another.

Thank you for your support and patience!
