Title: Do you feel like your friends who don't own crypto want you to fail?
Post by: cryptoamumu on February 16, 2018, 10:13:42 PM
When I first bought my bitcoin in July 2017, I told some of my friends to buy some. Most of them flat out said no. A few of them said they would do research on it and then decide. Everyone ended up not buying any and one of my friends said he would rather spend the money on alcohol and strippers. I told him strippers are a bad investment because you will never get gains and only lose money every time you reinvest in them. My friend hopes I make lots of money from bitcoin and that if I ever get rich, I would owe him a stone crab dinner. He truly wants it to work out for me, but he believes bitcoin will not last and I will lose my investment.

Here's the thing, every time I talk to a friend or a co-worker that is not involved in the crypto world, they always wish me success and hope I make lots of money. But deep down, I can't help but feel that they want me to fail because they aren't involved. How angry and jealous would they be if I succeed? After I told them numerous times to invest in bitcoin or other altcoins. They would be stuck in their cubicles and I would be driving in my lambo. And how happy would they be if I fail and lose my money? They would said, "I told you so. That's why I didn't invest my money into bitcoin."

One of the seven deadly sins is envy. If I fail, I will be stuck in the cubicle and work until I'm 60. And if I succeed, they will be envious, envious that my cubicle next to them is empty, envious that I'm retired and driving around the gold coast in my lambo.

Well mate if I may offer you some advice, it is OK that you discuss bitcoin openly as a technology and currency. But I would keep a low profile regarding any personal investments. There was a couple robbed in Thailand because they discussed bitcoin in public once too many. Especially, if down there you are feeling those so called friends of yours are full of envy

People always laugh at your dream and curse you when you succeed. We don't deny the fact that some of them are insecured to you. People get envy because they think thay you are ahead of them. They always want you fall because they don't want to see you on the top!
Crab mentality ruins every family, friendship and colleagues. The natural way of people to pull down someone who they think to be successful!
I have also an experience like though I am just amidst of my journey.

If you are feeling that way about your friends better not discuss your investments with them so that if everything really fails (which I doubt) you won't hear something from them that will hurt your feelings. It is my personal choice to only have a few friends and thankfully the ones I am close are also now in crypto and are really capable of investing. I do discuss crypto related stuff on some of them but that is if I see they have interest in it. I am not saying that you stay away from your friends that doesn't like crypto related things but better not tell things to them from now on and find other friends who you think you both have the same interest when it comes to Bitcoins so you can have something to share with.

I have discussed crypto with a couple of friends over the years now, they laughed at the idea for 3years. Now that it is paying me and I am getting money from it they are now interested. bitcoin has become expensive now I told them about it when it was below $500. it's cool to have people around you catching a vision early enough and supporting you instead of having to laugh and wait till the opportunity is almost gone.  ;D

I think don't please them to join what your doing or about bitcoin . You know how risky to invest but even it's risky bitcoin give you good profit. I think if they don't want don't force them. Explain to them what is bitcoin and how work it. Then if they don't want it's ok you try best to help others and it's enough. Give your best to be successful before  you help others to be successful.

I also Discussed about crypto and blockchain technology 80% of them don't even know what i'm talking about but they also focus on bitcoin because it's all in the mainstream media. But the other 20% is earning profit already and holding some alts. If all alts will barely sustain it's price it will have a mass adoption.

You can't control what they want to do or if they don't like crypto because this is online and we can't see crypto like we depend only the information about the person who already know crypto but still there's some users also discover crypto by themselves like me,i think if they don't like to invest some money here then let go that and move for your business here like continue your investing here then if you earn try again yo refer crypto for them i'm sure it's take time for them to accept crypto.

Probably those people doesn't feel envy at you(at least some of them) and really wishes you success. It is also inevitable that some would harbor envy if you have gained a hefty sum of profit and wishes that Bitcoin will not give you profit deep inside, it is human nature after all. Everyone will harbor envy in one point of their lives but just shake them off and don't think about it too much, it will just cause stress.

Jealousy is the main reason why we have our strange beliefs that someone which is close to us wants our failure. Our doubts, that are connected with the possible desires of our friends which include our failure, are here because we alone have the same thoughts. We all have that little spark in us which is preventing us to wish a happiness and wealth to our friends.

If one particular human has not succeeded as his neighbor has he will instead wish for a bankruptcy of that specific neighbor. If we do have a "cow" it is better than the neighbor "cow" dies too. Jealousy is everywhere and we can't deny that we have it too. Some are trying to suppress it but it will always sparkle inside us. I would lie if I said that I am not jealous of wealthy holders of BTC. Some part of me wishes that all the investors lose their portfolio and that the crypto market restarts as the whole. But that is that little spark that I am talking about and we all have it.

We must suppress it the same way we are suppressing our desires for something unreachable that can only lead us to demise if we want it too much!

Fair enough -- don't expect the majority to agree. That's not how markets work. If Bitcoin reaches $100,000 and beyond, the majority will still be naysayers, so consider yourself lucky for having gotten involved. Most people will never buy Bitcoin until the speculative opportunities are already gone.

Here's the thing, every time I talk to a friend or a co-worker that is not involved in the crypto world, they always wish me success and hope I make lots of money. But deep down, I can't help but feel that they want me to fail because they aren't involved. How angry and jealous would they be if I succeed? There's always going to be that element. I've felt the same sort of envy when I miss trading opportunities. There's a natural competitive psychological response where humans strive to be the alpha. Few people want to be left behind, so to speak.

One of the seven deadly sins is envy. If I fail, I will be stuck in the cubicle and work until I'm 60. And if I succeed, they will be envious, envious that my cubicle next to them is empty, envious that I'm retired and driving around the gold coast in my lambo.

Ideally, I'd like us all to escape that cubicle reality. If not, I'm happy to take early retirement. :)

there is a lesson from social behavior sciences, if you you fail you will be upset but if your friend becomes more successful than you, you will be much more upset.

you must be someone with low self-esteem and who thinks all the time to compete with other people, even if you have not noticed, you are seeking approval from your friends and co-workers or you want to be superior to everyone, you want to show to everyone that you have more ability than all and this brings you frustration when people tell you: "good luck and successes". The first thing that happens in your head is that people are despising you and that they are envious of you and want you to fail. If you had high self-esteem, a lot of self-confidence, you would not worry about what other people think of you.

Be strong, believe in yourself, be self confident, think for yourself, do not show your faults to people, do not complain much of your life to people and do not live competing with anyone.

Yeah.. they're giving up though.. the last one was mocking me that bitcoin went from 20k to 7k.. and I just explained that you make even more money in FUD markets and he just changed the subject.. you can't really fail in this business up or down if you move into the correct position

Most people do want to see you fail. Whether it's with crypto or any other business/money venture. It's human nature. You just have to ignore and move forward.

You better not talk to them about crypto currency, their mind are close to an opportunity. So if you are with them, avoid having a conversation about cryptos and just talk about your everyday life. Keep yourself low at all times, If they are truly your friends they will support you no matter what

Well, not all my friends know that I'm investing with cryptocurrency cause I know how my friends will react on that so I decided to keep it secret. But I think those who are insecure to you will really wish you to fail buy I know you can prove to them that this kind of market is really profitable.

If they want you to fail then they are not your friends. Friends does not want you to fail but will support you instead. It that person want you to fail then they are envy of what you have right now. Their life might be full of regret why they did not listen to you when bitcoin is still quite reachable.

Yes, I can feel you. The one that told and mentor me about bitcoin is not envious about me because I'm earning way above from him. I just talk to him last night, and I can feel some animosity in his tone. So I stop talking and just listen as to how much he is earning from his mining and trading. And he also brought up something like those who he help in the beginning (like me), is not asking questions to him but all of them are reaching to me. So I really don't know what to do then.

Humans are quite fragile, they easily feel envious each time you achieve something. Maybe they are not your friends as well, because if they are they will support you in each of your every success. If they are just regretful then encourage them that following your step is still possible.

Probably. Because when I tell my friends about bitcoin, some of them recommend me to stop looking for bitcoin. They think it's not a good currency to use. But I don't think they hope I will fail in this thing.

You should keep encouraging them and helping them buy their first btc. It won't be fun being rich all alone.
If you cannot encourage them verbally show them how easy it is to send crypto currencies. Instead of paying back for dinner or something equally small offer them crypto instead of fiat. This is how I got a few friends into crypto when they saw their first returns.

It is really hard to please anyone to invest in bitcoin. It is better not to encourage them because we cannot force them to invest it is up to them on how they will manipulate their own money and investment if they ask some advice thats time you give them advices about bitcoin. Regrets is always in the end if they see us succeed in the chosen path we take and even on the profit we had gained.

Some people in fact indulge in the feeling that the Germans call Schadenfreude. Since they don't get the benefits of something, they rejoice if neither others can. However, as someone already has said, beware false friends and don't boast too much of your Bitcoins, should they make you rich. Someone could decide to rob you at some point eventually.

So far I have met many people who were both against and in favor of cryptocurrencies. Most of my friends are interested in the modern technology so they support me and even ask me for investment advice which I don't give because they would blame me later if it was wrong or not profitable short term. I managed to convince some of my friend to buy Bitcoin and it looks like they are really into Bitcoin. I spend a lot of time educating them and helping them to understand the whole system.

speaking to myself, I was in the position where I don't have my own crypto, at first I felt jealous with my friend because I know even if she don't tell me she's earning more than I.  There is always negative feelings but I think one person is just wanting to be like the other person, its a normal feeling but would feel sorry if you fail. But then, she made me realize  and understand that I should also try doing bitcoin and I did.

Don't talk about money to friends (and bitcoin is money). It just causes problems because friends measure themselves against each other. If one friend is suddenly rich, it makes the rest feel like losers.

So keep your wealth to yourself, there is no need to brag or advertise it.

There are friends of mine who are astonished but has a bit of doubt with cryptocurrencies,
they express a keen interest at first but when I start to share and talk about it, the
latter response is somewhat negative. Yes there are plenty of individuals out there who
are thinking and speculating of ones failure. I respect the opinions of others, even criticisms
are normal with bitcoins and altcoins. But I disagree with debating critics, it's a waste
of time. I think the more negativity there is with people who are against cryptos, the better
the odds of success for people whom are into bitcoins and altcoins. That's positive for me.

Yes, there are so many people who want me and my crypto association to fail. Most of them are shy and jealous people.
There are a lot of people who want to be millionaires, they announce to people eloquently and this is the only way they can achieve their goals, but they do not do it. They think that this is a trash market and continue to wait for some miracle to happen in their lives.

It doesn't matter what your friends told you about investing in bitcoin. Investing is always of your choice even in other investment than bitcoin. Some people will always want you to fail, so you shouldn't be affected by that. There is nothing wrong with trying to enter stuff like this. The higher the risk, the higher the return. Always think of that. Your friends shouldn't be a hindrance for your success.

Of course not everyone will win, but others will not make us happy because others fail, but everyone else will win and we will win and encourage everybody to work or invest.

Some people within my circle is kinda envious that I don't have to work 8-10 hours a day yet I still can provide for my family and have some nice little extra on the side. They often accused me of doing illegal activities on the internet and attributed my wealth into selling illegal items online. I pity those people who are clueless on what I'm doing and can only accuse me of wrongdoings. While those kind of people exist, on the other hand I'm thankful that I still have friends who are willing to learn and help me out on my crypto journey. Some of them are evn better than me in crypto trading and I don't mind it as long as they become successful. Most of them have goods jobs and yet finds their way into crypto trading since it brought them, according to them, serious "extra cash" that they cannot earn with overtimes.

Aside from the extra cash they're earning, they're now studying economics enthusiastically since they want to know how would bitcoin scale in the grand scheme of things. Good thing I have friends who understand that the norms of the society would soon shift into something more disruptive and innovative.

It feels like an individual trying to get Bitcoin and holding it then they sell it and miss the pump. Just keep your coins don't fail.

If I am your friend, I will ask you on how to earn bitcoin.  It is a matter of something in my heart called envy that is why I am here.  I wanted to have more money or an extra income.  My salary alone cannot wrap up all my expenses. My friends were not envious but they keep on asking how bitcoin works.
