Title: Ethereum transaction speeds?
Post by: preshpr1nce on February 17, 2018, 01:34:27 AM
Haven't done an Eth transfer in awhile, keep reading about congestion and slow speeds.
I'm looking at buying an ICO which is close to it's cap, how long are Eth transactions taking these days?

Over a day and I've probably missed out.

Cheers!

I just did a transaction few hours ago, and suprisingly it went in really fast, I think at this moment the network is not congested. There is a great probability that because of the drop most people lost their interests using eth. And this would free out eth of its traffic. So its nice to use it now, plus prices are going back to its normal states.

I think it realy fast if the transaction isn't crowded if crowded you can incrase gas price higher (the more you spend gas price the more speed you will got)

I think you have to check at this page https://ethgasstation.info/ you will find any usefull information about how many gas you need to use & average speed transaction at this time.
FYI at this time speed transaction are very fast on the ethereum network, and also still cheap transaction fee to.

Always use a higher GAS than usual
You can check GAS ideal at ethgasstation.info
The website is always up to date to provide transaction traffic information on the Ethereum network

Theoriticaly ethereum transaction is better than bitcoin because bitcoin transaction is competing each other, people who set higher fee will be prioritized. But I don't exactly how long Eth transaction will taking time.

if you use an a bit above average gas price , it will be in a couple of minutes but probably under that. at least a lot faster then btc.

People who complain about ETH transaction speeds are probably attempting to get into an ICO or were trying to do something during CryptoKitties.  Other than that, I find ETH to be just fine.  At least with ETH you can easily increase the gas to get in front of the line.

Transaction speed is good but gas price is bit high sometimes I am paying upto 3$ for my transaction . You can find information in ethergastation. Also transferring some tokens it’s costing more , transferring eth always less even for ico’s.

Transactions are did this week were so fast, the gwei was set at 5 and the gas limit at 37000 though i didn't not do the transaction for an ico if you're using it for an ico you can increase your gas limit and gwei because of congestion.

Ethereum transactions now is fast, because ETH network is not overloaded (only around 5k pending transactions. And there is no any hype ICO live.

there isn't much difference here. if the network is congested then your transaction will be stuck unless you pay a ridiculously higher fee than other people. and if it is not congested then the transaction with any fee will be confirmed in the next block!

of course there is one difference and that is wallet failures! in the past during bitcoin network congestion everything worked fine and every service continued working with bitcoin. but during ETH network congestion exchanges had to disable everything because of failure.

Before doing any transactions in regards with ethereum, you can check it here-- ethgasstation.info .. You can check what gas price, gwei you need for the transaction and how long will it takes.. and i suggest you always must have atleast a minimun of .01eth in your mew or if you imtoken application in playstore, you can transfer easily using it.

1. In Ethereum the block time is set to 14 to 15 seconds compared to Bitcoins 10 minutes. This allows for faster transaction times. Ethereum does this by using the Ghost protocol.
2. Ethereum has a slightly different economic model than Bitcoin – Bitcoin block rewards halve every 4 years whilst Ethereum releases the same amount of Ether each year ad infinitum.
3. Ethereum has a different method for costing transactions depending on their computational complexity, bandwidth use and storage needs. Bitcoin transactions compete equally with each other. This is called Gas in Ethereum and is limited per block whilst in Bitcoin, it is limited by the block size.

Ethereum transactions have been very fast of recent. I have done a couple of transactions both in ETH and TOKEN transfers and was impressed on the speed of transaction and little charges that go with that compare to BTC that is sluggish with high charges most of the time.

it seems that no one can make ETH transactions accelerated, they only rely on GAS price if the gras price is very large already apsti delivery will be fast.

Just look at the last transactions and their gas price, and then send the transaction with a gas price slightly more than the average and your transaction go very quickly

go to etherscan check total pending tx and ethgastation check minimum check price before doing ethereum transaction, you also can increase Gwei to speed up transaction speed , i think it's better than bitcoin

I guess that happens if the network traffic is very dense, it will be a little slow. Ethereum has a function like a virtual machine that can run a peer-to-peer smart contract with Ether (ETH) cryptography.

Based on my experience on using ETH, I would say that the transaction speed is super FAST! Even last December, the transaction speed is faster! When the transaction said that it is done and when I checked my wallet, it is already there! Unlike bitcoin where transaction said that it is done but the money took almost 3 hours for the complete transfer.

Title: Re: Ethereum transaction speeds?
Post by: Dart18 on February 17, 2018, 10:54:19 AM
1-5 minutes.
The longer transaction that I experienced was 5.
Just yesterday I have tried to use it again just for transferring a token. Input gas price at 1 because I am not in haste. Unexpectedly it was a success for 3 minutes with my balance almost not moving.
Ethereum will be not be congested much if this continues.
If you want a faster one then go for a recommended gas price.

yes it is correct The system of Ethereum is very good and they handle the deal very quickly. In addition, the fee that the trader pays is very cheap. That has created a brand for ethereum. That is why ETH is on the top 2 of the crypto market. I think after a short time, ETH will lead in the crypto market.

Well good for you the network is really fast right now and have been for some times, the congestion problem was on november and it is no longer a problem as the speed and cost are really great right now. For the ico, i haven't read into new projects nowadays so i can't recommend you a good one.

I haven’t experienced any of these congestion’s like it was with the crypto kitties congestion and as far as I know confirmation times have very much improved and as acceptable speeds and is far much better than what we get from bitcoin.

The classic resource to use to know how is the Ethereum network at a certain moment is https://ethgasstation.info/ (https://ethgasstation.info/)

On the right you will see this:

Speed   Gas Price
(gwei)
SafeLow (<30m)   1
Standard (<5m)   1
Fast (<2m)   8

Those are the gas prices (in wei) that you should set on your transfer and the likely results in time confirmation that you´ll get. Depending on the ICO, there may be "gas wars" or just normal transactions. If the ICO is oversubscribed, it may sell in under a minute, so you may need to set a high gas price, sometimes too much to make sense.

Recently Ethereum(ETH) transactions are very fast in speed when compared to the past ETH transactions speed and the amount of ether gas charged for each transfer is also very minimal. I am personally very much elated about this latest technological development because it's going help boost the cryptocurrency Blockchain technology business and the entire global financial system. One of the advantages of this great innovative technology is the reduction of cost of money transfer.

Ethereum speed is too fast because Ethereum is one of the top in crypto market and its a better than the bitcoin and the speed of bitcoin is not good as compared to bitcoin.

Your ethereum transaction speed will depends on how much gas you are willing to spent to your transaction the more gas the faster the transaction will be,i have been using ethereum as my main cryptocurrencies and i know how it feels when your transaction is taking forever, this is the main problem of ethereum network the congestion because almost 40% of the total cryptocurrency transaction is iin the ethereum network.

Ethereum transfers transactions these day are very fast because I think there are improvements on the Ethereum Blockchain. The speed is hundred percent (100%) faster than Bitcoin transactions. I love it!

It is depends on the gas you are planning to spent in your transaction, gas is acting as the fee to ethereum and neo network so it only means that if more has been spent in every transaction you made the faster the transaction will be confirmed by the network. There is required amount of gas today in ethereum and neo and it is depends on the network congestion.

Transaction in Ethereum is fast, it only takes a few seconds in my last transaction and didn't even wait for 1 minutes. I think the most delayed transaction would be 5-20 minutes long.

sometimes the slow transaction for the transfer makes us upset. this is based on what gas limit we use, it will affect our transaction speed. but in my opinion not only gas limits that affect the speed of transactions. I think it depends on eth server, whetheris good or not and should you pay more attention to the situation whether the server is good or not.

Ethereum transaction speeds will depends on how much has you want to use for your transaction so it only means the more gas you use the faster the transaction will be confirmed in the blocks of the ethereum network.Normally it the gas fee would be depends on the network congestion if there are less people trnsacting today, the gas fee would be smaller but if most of the people are using the network the has fee would be higher.

Right now the network is not so much congested so you can easily transfer your ethereum. The network used to be congested during Cryptokitties ICO but since it's over now, the number of pending txns have gone down quite a bit making eth fast again. The txn speed also depends upon the GAS you set so set it up high if you want to invest in an ICO.

The emergence of new platforms such as EOS, WAVES, or OMNI can also be the ethereum prospect factor in the future. Later we will see various new platforms will emerge that have advantages and disadvantages of each.

Calm down so far no serious problems, Ethereum has the flexibility far beyond bitcoin and Bitcoin has safety features and reliability over ethereum. Ethereum is mentioned by experts as the best coin in their field. Antonopulos equates bitcoin as a lion and ethereum as a shark. ;D

Ethereum is faster than Bitcoin in terms of transaction speed and probably the fastest between Bitcoin forks like Bitcoin Cash, Bitcoin Gold, Bitcoin Diamond and Segwit2x.
I am using Ethereum for half of a year now and I never experience that delay like Bitcoin's transaction speed.
Ethereum is faster and if I would give the speed, it feels like a couple of minutes then you're done - coins are already sent on the other wallet.

The transaction speed of ethereum is breakneck, and I am satisfied with it. If you are low cost with 4 gas it will only take a few minutes to make transactions, and if it is congested then you just increase the gas to about 40-80 transactions can be done almost instantaneously. , but the transaction fee will be higher depending on the amount of gas you require.

Ethereum is much faster than bitcoin in terms of speed of transaction as well in terms of the fee levied for a transaction. Following the same there are more altcoins that have been focused on faster transaction with less fee.

So far I've felt a lot of transactions from ethereum, and the results are very fast when compared with bitcoin transactions then ethereum is much faster. Most likely if there is a delay regarding the cost of ethereum transactions, because the cost of gass is very low, so there can be congestion on ethereum transactions.
