Title: Wallet Suggestions?
Post by: AhaGo on February 17, 2018, 09:23:05 PM
Exodus? Jaxx? MetaMask? BlockMarket? Online Hosted wallet that I pay for?

Id rather use an offline wallet but who can be trusted other then nobody? But if I had to trust someone?

Would you use an online wallet or a cold wallet? I was thinking to setup a wallet on a spare pc and take it offline?

I have alt coins? Just looking for opinions on what people have used?

Here you go:

https://bitcoin.org/en/choose-your-wallet

Choose what wallet fits your need. Personally I used the following wallet:

(1) Electrum - the best desktop wallet I have used because its lightweight and easy to used. You just need to download the latest because there was a vulnerability in the old version. Supports Segwit address as well.

(2) MEW - for my tokens and Ethereum. But used with extreme caution though. Keep your password and private key safe.

(3) Green Address - another online wallet that I also used. Very secure. Also supports Segwit.

So its really up to you on how you are going to protect your crypto's. Strong passwords, 2FA don't share your private key to someone you don't know, may backups.

Just take your time to read everything from the link I posted and you will be fine. Goodluck.

Any day,any time I will choose and prefer hardware wallets to any other kind of I'm soparanoid to the extent that I sometimes believe these online wallet sites can even help hackers hack user accounts.Except for the recent vulnerability detected in ledger,I would say hardware wallets are 100% safe

I'm agree with all of them also i suggest "MetaMask" , If you use MetaMask, it is far less likely you will be phished or affected by a phishing site as your key remains in MetaMask and the fake website will not be able to steal it.

I use some offline wallet like etn, itns and some online wallet too like etn online, mew. I think offline wallet is more safe than online wallet. But it's need synch for check our balance and I think it's take a long time  ;D.

If you want an ethereum wallet I suggest Mist because its safe and also lets you use ERC20 tokens.

jaxx or coinomi for mobile wallet for multiple coin to store and a open source wallet and your own private key for desktop i love exodus wallet because nice interface and easy to use and for er20 token better use myetherwallet+ metamask for more security.

I've been using blockchain.info for all sort of bitcoin related holdings, whereas myetherwallet is used for the holding of altcoins. Once used an online mobile wallet named bit.ac and it scammed running away taking away all the holdings from the wallet of large number of users.

I'd still prefer using electrum for coins that I mostly used for trading and purchasing stuffs.
For hodling, I'm confident in using a paper wallet which is stored in a very safe place. (it's under my bed, I also have a safe backup just in case)

Altcoins? Just make sure to use the official releases for each coins, that's fine.

Overall you'll only need store a certain amount of coins in a hot wallet to reduce risk of hacking/compromising. Smaller amount, less interest for hackers.

I use online wallet for the coins I trade because I need it to be always available when I need to move or trade them. It depends on the alt, some mobile app wallets, others just web wallet.

But for some coins that I hold, I have a dedicated laptop for it. I install the wallet, put the coins, then take the laptop offline. Can't afford hardware wallet yet like trezor.

But I think the safest wallet right now are hardware wallets.

For me the good wallet that you can trust in online wallet i think is blockchain.info if bitcoin and etherium and myetherwallet.com in etherium and all ERC20 tokens this two is surely trusted and good wallet that only you are they only one can open and hold there private key and wallet seeds

If i do plan to hold it for long term and doesnt really tend to touch it actively then i would go for hardware wallets which you can able to store up coins which is more secure compared on storing into online wallets but before on buying hardware wallets be sure to buy from the company itself directly and never ever risk to buy from resellers online. If you do know the happening towards ledger nano hacking incidents then you will really see the risk.

I will give you a safe wallet option for you, to save BTC you can use https://blockchain.info/, while for ETH and token that work with ETH you can save it at https://www.myetherwallet.com/ I have prove for 2 years I keep the coin there safe. free asset storage is free at the cost of admin.

I don't use online wallet and won't recommend using it. if you're seriously into bitcoin/altcoin, i'd say invest in a hardware wallet. buy ledger nano s it supports lot of altcoins[1] and offers the best security.

Both offline and online you must still have this both, online wallet to sell some of your altcoins and assets that you really should keep using for offline. ledger, mew all have their own risks and prepare yourself to bear all the risks that will happen.

If you're looking for a online wallet for ETH or ERC20 coins i will absolutely suggest you myetherwallet because it's the basic wallet for every altcoins.
Or else you're looking a online wallet to hold top coins like LTC, ETH, BTC , BCH , i will suggest you coinbase because i'm using them for a long time and there is no problem.
