Fork - In software engineering, a fork happens when developers take a copy of source code from one software package and start independent development on it, creating a distinct and separate piece of software. The term often implies not merely a development branch, but also a split in the developer community. In cryptocurrency a fork can lead to a chain split.
Chain Split - A situation in which a blockchain splits into two separate chains temporarily or permanently. It can occur naturally (when two chains following the same consensus rules temporarily have the same accumulated proof-of-work and are both considered valid), or as a consequence of the use of two distinct sets of rules trying to govern the same blockchain.
POW - "Proof of Work"; An economic measure to increase security on a network by requiring work from the service requester.

Wallet - Storage for cryptocurrency that can occur in software or hardware form.
Cold Storage - The process of keeping private keys offline in complete separation from the internet for safekeeping.
Private Key - A variable (secret key) used with an algorithm to encrypt and decrypt code. The algorithm does not need to be kept secret, but a private key does.
Dapp - "Decentralized Application" built as a smart contract.
Hodl - A cryptocurrency meme derived from this original post.
Lambo - The meme car all traders seek to obtain (a Lamborghini).

Here are some more:

The Flippening: which will happen when an alt overtakes Bitcoin in Market Cap. At the moment it looks like Ethereum might do this in the next couple of years

The Cashening: this was the attempt by Bitcoin Cash to overtake Bitcoin. So far this project has stalled.

Blockhain - Technology behind bitcoin

That's few that I can think of.  :)

Guess, HODL, Lambo, moon should be on the top...;D...Whales don't have to be a owner of large sum of cryptocurrency/Fiat will do the job, a slight correction in fork vs chain split...Fork might be done within an existing system for improvement/development...not really a community split. Source code...branching off comes within a fork, Opposite is chain split...Branching off with a source code for one believe's in building a new community
...Rest is accurate.

I guess you are not aware of trading. Whale is often used to describe large investor who can manipulate the market. They are one of the factor that affects the volatility of certain coin.

Good little list, probably should have been done a long time ago.   I got one for you, KYC

KYC is know your customer

This isnt really part of crypto itself but with the sucess and larger markets we got in the last 12 months now various companies entering crypto want everyone to hand in personal details or they keep account locked and unavailable to yourself to cash out.
I lost tokens I was owed due to a company giving just 14 days KYC before declaring they no longer owed anything and they never even updated the forum thread OP with new KYC requirements ???.   I beg to differ Im not a criminal, no democratic country in the world will support the presumption of guilt like that and especially to forfeit in the companys own favour is not legit imo.  See my last thread (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2892870.msg29743762#msg29743762) start if you want details on that occurrence, anyhow its vital lingo to know the KYC hurdles being thrown out there.

I've given merit as you requested for a decent thread.

Among all the above sentences, what I like the most is GO TO THE MOON.  :D
especially when I follow an ICO, the word makes me very passionate, and increases my otimism.
yeah, who does not like it if the price of our investment coin reaches the price ,up to the moon  ;D
