Title: Which one to buy right now ASICMiner Blade or CoinTerra?
Post by: dragonkid on September 19, 2013, 03:19:41 PM
I am really confused which one to buy right now ASICMiner Blade or CoinTerra? I am thinking about getting either 10 x 10GH/s ASICMiner Blade or 1 x 2 TH/s CoinTerra which will not get deliver until January 2014.  :'(

Which one should I get right now? Will I get my ROI quicker by buying 10 Blade? Or wait for the best and pre-order the CoinTerra 2 TH/s which is more powerful but that will be in 4 months time?  ???

Also I am confused about how many GH/s = 1 TH/s  ???

Thanks for your time.

Dragonkid  :)

Its a good question,  personally id do the blades since you can have them tomorrow vs. waiting till next year when the difficulty level is said to continue to skyrocket upward.  You'd be better turning over what you can now, rather than wait for later (IMHO)  Use this Link to help you decide a little better:  http://mining.thegenesisblock.com/

You could also look into these guys: http://drillbitsystem.com/products.html  They seem to have a good rep, and are talking delivery in the next couple months.

As for speeds, just like any frequency out there-  MH/s(megahashes/second>GH/s(Gigahash/second)>TH/s(Terahash/seecond)

1000GH/s= 1TH/s

1000GH/s= 1TH/s

That is the problem, so 2TH/s is actually 2000GH/s.

CoinTerra = 2000 GH/s
ASICMiner Blade = 100 GH/s plus 1 already got so it is 110 GH/s

Wouldn't my 110 GH/s blade be useless in 4 months time compare to the 2000GH/s CoinTerra?

That is the biggest confusion, everyone including yourself and I know that in 4 months time the Hash rate will skyrocket. So if I get a more powerful miner to prepare for the skyrocket time be a better option? But I think if I can afford it, which I can't is to buy 10 blade now, and also order for the CoinTerra, and sell the blades when CoinTerra arrive.

I am getting more and more confused. I have been thinking of this question for a few days already. They are going to cost the same price. But which one is a better bet?

It is a bit like I get a car today I can travel at the speed of 110 Mph, I can travel pretty far in distance. But the speed limit of the highway is increasing so the traffic of other cars are getting faster. If I get a 2000 Mph car and order it now and get deliver in 4 months time. I can keep up with the other drivers. But I can only drive when I get my 2000 Mph car. Would I travel further distance if I get a 110 Mph car now and start to drive. Or start my journey in 4 months time, to keep up. But by then most likely there will be even faster cars on the market.  ???

Also another thing I am thinking is this, I was going to Pre-Order a PS4 which will also arrive in a few months time. It has better graphics and performance then the current PS3. A lot of people will not blink to pre-order the new PS4 or XBox One. And these consoles doesn't have any ROI at all.

But when it comes to mining hardware, we get confuse which one we should get. If I put it into the Game Consoles Mindset. I will go for the PS4 and not bother getting a PS3 now.  ???

Being one of 'those people' who do not believe in perpetual exponential diff increases I would clearly purchase a Jan delivery 1/2TH Cointerra miner. I think that with low watt consumption, increasing transaction fees and low $/GH the Cointerra miners will be profitable for a very long time.

Is a 2TH Cointerra Miner going to give me 3BTC/day just like labcoin hash rate?

I just checked out their website. They are still in development phase.

@theSwede-  Where do you see the 1/2 TH miner on their site? I was only able to view their 1 and 2TH miners.

@dragonkid-  In regards to your logic via consoles, it sounds like you have made your decision.  Plus you can enjoy your PS4 the meantime :)

If you are looking for more RIGHT NOW, pick up another one or two blades, and resell them when you are ready(if your funding allows after PS4 preorder).  Though the difficulty rating is high,  there will almost ALWAYS be newbies out there looking for a start somewhere as bitcoin picks up in popularity.

You are right, I guess after putting down all these post I actually come up with what I really want to do. And thanks for all who help me come to making my decision.

I think I will pre-order a PS4 (I meant CoinTerra)  ;D

They are both coming out the same time. Even though one cost a big difference in price, you can get 15 x PS4 for that price.  :D

Thanks and all the best.

You won't ROI AT ALL with a ASICMiner Blade. No ASICMiner hardware has ever returned the money spent on it. They are simply price WAY too high.

Right now a ASICMINER Blade at 10GH/s needs to be priced around 2 BTC or so to have a chance of breaking even. That is about $250. Any more and you won't make your money back. I'm not sure what you are paying but I'm guessing it is more than that.

A CoinTerra 2 TH/s delivered in early January should pay for itself and more.

But, CoinTerra has no hardware yet! They could easily miss their shipping target (pretty much ever mining company has been late so far), or they could even be a complete scam. At least if you pay by credit card you should be able to get your money back. Also, it's possible that with KNC, HashFast, and Bitfury shipping this fall, the difficulty could be far higher than predicted and even 2 TH/s at $6k or whatever CoinTerra is charging might not break even. With ASICMiner though, you are pretty much guarenteed not to break even.

None with all the hash coming online those units will barley make any profit if not a loss, unless the price of bitcoin goes to like $1000

Cointerra will make you a whole $700 more is it worth risking $6k? No

You will get a PS3 if you want to play GTA5. Thats what a friend of mine did. He sold his PS3 and pre-ordered PS4. Then he realized GTA5 is not on next gen so again bought one PS3 ;D

Neither.  Bitfury October preorder is the way to go if you want something quick with real hashing power.

Just curious, why Cointerra over all of the others?  They're one of the furthest from actual delivery.

ASICMiner blade first as Cointerra looks like vaporstuff.

I only trust two things for the time being. ASICMiner and AMD's GPUs.

Neither option is sounding very profitable.  Whatshisface is right about the Blades needing to come down to 2 BTC to turn some profit.  I think they are dropping the price again though so you may be in luck!

Ever heard of Bitfury?  Lol.

BFSB (EU), MGP (US) and Metabank (RU) shipped August orders on time (for the most part).  Now Punin has announced that October BFSB start shipping next week.

So why wouldn't you trust them, I'm curious?  They're delivering working miners on time.

Dragon kid! I hope you understand the risks before you invest your money! Bitcoin hardware are investments!

Investments are priced based on risk preference, expected payout, and discounted by time, and liquidity. Are you familiar with expected values and discounting? If not please learn about them! If yes then read on:

ASICMiner is overpriced! Because probability to deliver is almost 100%. It's a sure thing, very little risk. The expected BTC payout is depending on what you think difficulty increase will be. Because lots and lots of people are paying ~3.5-4 BTC that means most people believe difficulty increase won't be that much as 70%, and value low risk.

Cointerra is so cheap! Because probability to deliver is very low. It is also far into the future. The more risky and more time, the less valuable. If you put your money into Cointerra pre-order, there is a high chance delivery will be delayed. Then every day you wait is lost money. So risky! But if you get lucky it's so good!

Bitcoin hardware is not the most efficient market, but it is still good enough to help you decide what you want. If you are OK to take very risky investment with good reward, do Cointerra/fast hash/whatever preorder. If you don't want to take any risks with your money, do ASICMiner. If you want to do something in the middle, I suggest BitFury.

Good luck.

Hah! I was in the same dilemma a week ago. I did make a decision however.

So with the blades, they will cost you roughly the same as the Cointerra. The upside is that you get them right away. So you can start making BTC right away, before the difficulty goes nuts, which it will. On the other side you have the Cointerra that you have to wait a month for, but its 10x faster. Thats mega. I think the Blades life will expire when you hit January/Feb if the Diff keeps going the way it is. With the Cointerra, maybe the Diff slows down a bit for a few months, maybe not. Worst case scenario, with the cointerra you will have something that is 10x faster and worth more in the end. Plus it would make a great alt coin raper.

Now if you really want to roll the dice, get the blades now and mine, sell them in January when your Cointerra comes in.. Yes buy both and keep one.

Oh, so what did I do? I ordered the Cointerra without their protection and am praying it comes on time. Anyone know of a reliable god?

Just wanted to weight in and mention that we expect our miners to ship on schedule and thank you for your order. If you have any questions you are more than welcome to contact us at info@cointerra.com

Dont invest in any of them as the diff is going up a lot!! Buy bitcoins and hold !! atm the value of bit coin is skyrocketing!!!
but if you go for it, then go for the bladesas you get them tomorrow and not next year :)
good luck
