Title: gpu or antminer s9 for mining many different of coins - 2000/3000$
Post by: saeedl on February 19, 2018, 01:31:26 PM
hi every one!
i am new in mining and want to buy a good hardware for mining any kind of digital currencies.
now i have a problem to choose hardware for mining. choose gpu or ...
.
please guide me!
in my country the price of electricity for industrial usage is about 0!
so the power usage of the hardware for mining is not important for me!
.
now the question is what is the best hardware for mining , considering that my fund at begining is 2000 dollars and can be alittle more if required!
.
using gpu is better or some instruments like antminer s9 or s7 ...?
.

at the begining i don't need optimum profitability, it is more important to do not lose the fund because of low experience, and choosing a good hardware which can sell again to others should be considered if required even though is not my first concern!
.
and the other important quest is the range and number of different currencies which this hardware can mine!
.
.
i have a 3.2 ghz 4 quad cpu with 4 gb of ram DDR3.
and 2mbps internet connection.

.
.
thanks a lot!

you want both in the long run.  but for now I would do gpu  which means you should look at the alt coin section.

your internet speed is fast enough.

internet up time  without disconnects = very important

I have strong feeling that new asics and next gen gpus are just around a corner,

Internet speed is one thing when you mining ... I guess when you said you have a 2mbps internet connection , you are talking about the download speed. What is your upload speed ? More important, what is the ping time to any mining server what is closest to your location .Latency matters more than a bandwidth. With higher latency your miner going to produce more stale shares , its mean you going to make less money ...
Do you have any data limit on your connection ?

Go to Speedtest.net (http://www.speedtest.net/) run a speed test with default settings , let us know what numbers you get ... Then run the test again , change the server location to another city , country where any mining server are located . Did you get pretty close numbers on each test ?

There's no doubt those new devices are going to come out. Development on miners has always happened and will continue to happen.

Both GPUs and ASICs have their ups and downs, I prefer BTC mining myself but GPUs tend to be quieter, have decent resale rates and are more customizeable than ASICS (the S9 is loud as it's an industrial-grade miner after all). I assume you won't care about noise much though since you mention having industrial electrical access.

You can mine on dial-up speeds as long as your internet is consistent. Speed hardly matters unless you're running a large operation, which I assume you won't be doing right now. In the end, if noise doesn't matter to you it's really just down to what prices you can get for either the GPUs or ASIC.

Of Course GPUs, easy to resell at the decent resale price.

and the other important quest is the range and number of different currencies which this hardware can mine!
ASIC can do this (since you ask, range and number of different currencies) not Algorithm, ASIC can mine more than 1 currencies with the same Algorithm. GPUs can mine multi Algorithm (more currencies).

in my country the price of electricity for industrial usage is about 0!
so the power usage of the hardware for mining is not important for me!
Using whatever hardware would be great.

depends on the type and series GPUs and skill of doing modded or OC. and don't forget if a GPUs doesn't else profitable for mining, can be used play Game. Unlike the Antminer, if no longer profits, just so toys and seats.

For GPU mining high internet speed does not need. If you have the average one also you can get the better stream in Mining. If you required tension free mining, you have to choose the GPU because ASIC cannot be easily exchange or recovered from the error when you find the fan issue or reduction of hash rate.

I see that you have quad core processor, you can start mine any altcoin with this but the usual Mobo you are using for the personal computer will not work at all.

I suggest you to buy B250 Asus mining expert mobo to start your mining career. It have 19 GPU slots. Hence you can add up to 18 cards for best mining experience on ethereum, zec, crypto night or else.

Next to this high watts SMPS is needed for sure upon the number of cards you gonna add to it. I suggest everyone to go with 1700W Corsair which is best for mining purpose.

I have bad experiences with 1700W Corsair, PSU socket rail is melt when my Rig running 3 months never stop. then I try to get EVGA and at this time has been run 6 months not melt or maybe it is not yet time to melt.
