Title: Merit and sMerit
Post by: mensha on February 19, 2018, 04:09:46 PM
I have following issues which need to be clarified from this community. Please elaborate on these.
1. What is the real reason for introducing this merit system for bitcointalk community?
2. Is there any restricting on sMerit which we should followed?
3. What is the mechanism for increasing our existing merit count?
4. What are the other benefits from merit count other than upgrading membership?

assuming that you did read the original thread.

1. To stop spammers/shitposters/account farmers or anything that pulls this forum downwards.
2. restricting what? restriction in sending? From what i know, and have read, the restrictions on merit are:
    a. You can only give a maximum of 50 merits to a single person, if you want to give more you need another transaction.
    b. Merit selling/trading is not really prohibited but instead, discouraged.
3. There is no mechanism for increasing your merit. Posting with intent to help others and by being yourself is all you need, but if you really want to
increase your merit, posts some quality post. This includes interesting topics, interacting with others, and be informative.
4. other than upgrading your membership, others seeing your merits would increase your reputation. "Oh that guy has a lot of merits, he probably isn't like
everybody else! he must be extraordinary!" something like that. Also, it would serve as a reminder that you are contributing to the forum with your own ways.
