Title: Are ICOs still worth the tussle??
Post by: adekogbe on February 20, 2018, 01:21:52 AM

ICOs has being the hot cake for crypto investors in recent times and this has seen whitelists and crowdsales getting saturated up within minutes of opening.

In the process of projects hitting their hardcap early, some investors will have their funds stuck and will have to wait days sometimes weeks to get a refund.

So here's my question; are ICOs still worth the hustle and tussle or is it better off to get coins/tokens on the exchange?

It is actually up to you and your strategy. There are only two ways to do it. Either buy the coins during their ICOs and earn discounts and bonuses or wait for such coins to get listed in major and reliable exchanges. Both are great techniques. Investing in ICOs is a bit riskier than buying in exchanges but the profit is bigger in case the coin pumps. Buying in exchanges is safer but there will be no more discounts and bonuses. So choose which one do you prefer. I do both depending on the specific coin.

One thing I don't like on ICOs nowadays is the KYC where you need to submit documents and expose your real identity to those hackers other than that I think it is still good to participate because of the bonuses which you can't get from from trading on exchanges. There's an advantage too if you go on exchange at the time they get listed as its value will eventually drop because those who bought at presale will definitely dump those token at first day  ;D I guess it all depends on a person which is more important for him. If its okay for him to do the KYC then by all means participate on presale, if not then no choice but to wait for the dump.

@adekogbe. The market for ICOs these days has become so overcrowded that the supply cannot meet the demand. You also have to ask yourself which of them are really composed of a development team that can deliver the promises. I reckon a large % of them can't.

But there might still be some of them that are worth the risk. Look for big names backing them. That reduces the chance that an ICO is a scam.

Thus this is the best time to buy more alts or invest in icos. Its the best way to get coins at cheap prices, there can also be bonuses when you invest in ICO. Its the best bang for the buck way to purchase a coin before it went into the market. I would say invest in Medichain ico, is the next big thing. Great team and developers. I am currently invested big on this project. I can see big changes gonna happen with the project and technology. Game changer indeed in my honest opinion. Try and take a look. DYOR and invest.

No need to worry about ICO's when you have groups like (OCC) Original Crypto Coin that gives their tokens for free

https://originalcryptocoin.com/airdrop/

200,000 tokens

I think participating in ico’s at this stage of blockchain infancy is the wises decision anyone can make. As they say, “nothing good comes easy!!” Yes, it is getting hard to get into ico’s, but that just means that we need to step our game up. We have to think ahead at what projects will want to justify our participation. When y find an good ico, get involved with the community and show the team your dedication.

ICOs are still worth for me,
Even ICOs are very great source to earn money.
We only need to choose right ICOs before we join and invest in there.
We should be careful before join the ICO so we won't get disappointed if we join scam ICO.

I don't think so, because of recent new list on the exchange of the ICO project does not have a good income.
Just like DADI, this is the ICO project that paragraph of time is very hot, but now is just the cost price.

I think ICO is the best thing to do. Because with the ICO makes people benefit for people who invest in the project terbsebut. Why should ICO be raised? There is nothing wrong with ICO.

Fuck yeah ICOs kick ass. But trading ADA gave me the biggest boner a few weeks ago and it's just stuck there like a rocket waiting to launch. But ICOs I'm all about Bulltoken and Secret God - both are crazy as shit and will make you rich if theyre real!

I got in some really good ICO's last year.  It was before all the flood happened.  Since then, I have found that there are more junk ICOs than good ones.  ICOs that sell out before the release, whales buying everything up before the little guy has a chance, and ones that don't say up front that US investors are excluded, only to find out on ICO day that you can't buy.  I have pretty much given up on them for the time being.  My last really good one was Civic (CVC).  Vinny did it right and everyone had a chance!

ICOs are still worth the tussle,
we can get money from ICOs as a bounty hunter and investor.

That depends on your analyzation for some good icos you must pay worth 25x or 5x above the ico price just like universa and zilliqa. The fact that the ico trade just like a game and your analyzation will have a big role in this case. I was expecting about the hype project to give you a lot of return. Look at neblio and genesis vision. It has been providing enough evidence for you.

Every investors pass through the tussle and hustle because of the bonus offered during ICOs. Investors are aware that if they could get the bonus then they will make huge profit from the ICO. Yes, I will say ICO worth the tussle and hustle because of the bonus offered during ICOs.

Yes ......but look up the developers and important lead roles on LinkedIn, GitHub, Twitter, etc. If you can't find consistent accounts with names, faces, and past projects, this is a BIG red flag that the ICO may be a scam .......Ask questions. Reddit, slack channels, email, whatever; give the devs a poke and ask about the project. r/ethtrader is generally a good jumping-off point

Great points...
ICOs provide great mouth watering bonuses but when 50,000 people are competing for 10,000 spots more than a lot will miss out.
The problem however is after some people miss out, they start to spread FUD on the community in order to make weak hands sell as soon as it gets on exchanges, this also affects the value of the tokens.

Recent ICO gives too much share/bonus to pre-sale investors. ICO investors become bag holders. Not going into ICO anytime soon.

Most recent ICOs always sell over 50-60% during their Presale & the crowd are left to compete for a few tokens.
This shouldn't be.

Everyone should have equal right to buy "that's one of the purpose of decentralization the blockchain offers"

I like ICOs that give equal opportunity and set a specific gas limit, so that people who break the rules don't get in.

the Devs of ICOs should be more concerned about the community rather than money, it will go a long way.

Yeah but not like past. Most icos become successful doing soft cap nowadays but we don't see past hype, icos doing hard cap or 10x in release at all. I think bear market damaged crowdfunding process. Its not in golden age anymore.

to be honest i don't think investing in any of the ICOs so far been a good idea. it doesn't matter if they gave you some profit, they are still not a good choice for an investment.
and the only reason they got this big in my opinion is that a lot of newbies came in crypto space in last year with a lot of money to invest and they dumped it in what was advertised most and lost a lot of it too.

Hi, too much artificial "buzz" creates about ICO. Not all ICOs are created equal and you have to take the good with the bad if you’re going to invest in this space. As more and more ICOs enter this market, it’s important to have the right framework for evaluating open-source projects.

I think the whole cryptocurrency market and recently is not very good, so I suggest not to participate in the financing of the ICO project, directly in the exchange to buy tokens, because recently in the exchange to buy tokens, directly will be lower than its ico price.

I prefer buying it on a known exchange rather than buying on ICO. It is profitable to buy ICO if it pumps but it is very risky considering there are too many ICO that is trying to scam investors.

the ICO still worth to try and it is another solution for us to make a lot of money if the ico is a success. but we need to find the good ico that will have a good project and will work for a long-term. before we invest in ico, it is always better to read the details, be active in the ico projects so we know the latest news about the ico so we can decide to join the ico if we think that the ico will get success.

In recent years, there have been many successful ICOs, both the project itself and especially in measuring the yield for investors. Not all the projects benefit their investors, dont invest too much of your portfolio in one ICO. ICO still worthy which you choose right way and wisely.

There is no need in hustle in the question of ICO of course. It is more necessary to analyze scrupulously the project and find its flaws and benefits. This is really important. There are a lot of projects but not of them are worthy.

The decision will depend on the person. If you think that ICO is not benefitting you, then you can have other options. However, buying coins during the ICO period will be cheaper and afordable. If you will buy coins on the exchanges, then you need a good capital. ICO is still worthy to join because it can give you a good profit. Only if you choose the right ICO.

These are two different activities: participating in an ICO and trading. It is always up to you to decide what to take up, but it is okay to wait for some time for profits. It is absolutely normal. If you cannot wait , then you'd better go for trading ;)

Recent days there have been many successful ICOs, both the project itself and investors.
