I was nearly sacked from my 9-5 job.
I was terribly late so i had to lie to save myself. I felt terrible about it. I was wondering if its sometimes good to lie

Sometimes we have no option at the present circumstance we found ourselves thereby lie remain the only option...its good to lie sometimes.

I don't think its right to lie and in your case its something minor, but don't make a habit out of it! Today you lie about being late, tomorrow you do something worse and you lie.. and there you go, you have a habit out of it. So be carefully, it is good to feel terrible and reflect on it, learn from your mistake and try to be better next time!

Yes if someone is abusing you, you need to lie. I mean if he/she is always using you.

It's never good to lie. You can rephrase it in a way that you don't want to answer certain things directly. It's some sort of mastering communication technique.

You should feel terrible about it, because what you did is not good. The company has lost productivity (and therefore money and possibly even customers) as a result of your tardiness, and because of your lie they aren't going to replace you with someone more reliable. It's not fair to the company, it's not fair to their customers, it's not fair to your prospective replacement. You're making money at other people's expense as a direct result of your lie. That's essentially fraud, and you fully deserve to be fired for that alone. Why would you ever think for a moment that this is acceptable behaviour?

Lying about your work is never a good idea, but in other situations it might save your life.
If your wife says "Do I look fat in this?" It's not always the best idea to tell the truth

White list can be good depending on the situation and how you use it. There are things that needs to be lied to to make a better outcome.

Meh sometimes it's easier and even less painful for somebody of you tell them a small lie. Don't make a habit out of it tho and don't lie to your SO, ever. Except maybe if you're planning a surprise or a present etc.

Some lies are okay but don't overdo it. To hide a lie, a thousand lies are needed.

Sometimes it is good to lie if your reason is also good. However, you have to protect yourself as you might get used to saying lies. We have "white lies", simple lies, or petty lies but they could also lead to big issues. Sometimes, when we feel something good about lying and not getting caught up, we do it again and that is alarming as it might become a habit.

There is this white lie that you do to help save other people but ofcourse, the truth shall set you free so as much as possible, avoid lying and just face the consequences.

Yeah sometimes we can afford it. In some difficult situations we could lie and probably things would go better.

I do believe that sometimes sincerity can hurt as much if not more than a lie to you and to others included.
But for example i try to be as open and sincere as possible with close people, if my girlfriend would ask me if shes fat and she was, i would say, yes you are fat, but with different words and different approach, we cant always be blunty sincere, but i dont think it would be a good thing to for example lie to that person and say, nah you are not, i would probably say something, "well maybe you gained some weight, but no worries we can start to go to gym or exercise together, that would be fun i feel like i got very lazy myself, maybe lets try to cook and eat clean fro a couple of months, just to see where this could bring us? SOmething like that".

This sentence would include some white lies about myself, just to make other person feel better. Aka "i want to try eat healthy, i want to exercise and so on". Thus i dont think that all lies are bad, you cant be 100% sincere all the time, mostly because other people have feelings and different approaches to different things. Of course there is a really thin line between those "white" lies and the evil ones..

Of course you will also notice if that person is abusing you or not, you should also know how to appraise so that you can stay away to that particular person. People will actually stay on you if you have money, there loyalty is based on what you have or what you can give to them.

certainly why not because that according to it is good for us, we must run it correctly depending on the perspective of the opinion people who agree and some who do not agree

it's good to lie sometimes for some reasons

It depends on what situation you are into, if its for work, relationship or family, etc. We have 2 things of lies called good lies and bad lies, good lies is for no intention of hurting anyone and bad lies from the word bad as if you already know what i mean bad lies could be just for your own good or to satisfy yourself. It is a decision to make and think what happens after you decide.

It is good to lie sometimes so that no one will be hurt, white lies.

if you lie for good there are times when we have to lie for the common good and maybe it will be a life challenge to do the best

Good Lies are  they called white lies. Even Pastors and Priests are good liars because sometimes the truth can hurt others.

There are some lies that I will term "application of wisdom" there are some critical situations that if don't lie (apply wisdom), it will affect you and probably people around you negatively.

Let me give you an instance. I once was very closed to a young lady who happened to be a virgin. She came to me one day and said some of her friends used to disturb her to disclose her virginity status to them. Immediately I came to my senses that probably they have lost theirs and trying to set her her up to lose hers too.

My advice for her was that, she should tell her friends that she is no more a virgin, so that it could probably save her of some snares.

So, application of wisdoms at times might be termed lies.

Yes it is. It depends on the situation on ground. If it is the lie that will save your life and lives of other people, it is better to apply wisdom. Any lie that will not affect others negatively is not bad in my own opinion.

I thinks so, especially if put in a situation where lives are at stake. Of course I would not hesitate to lie in order to protect someone I love.

Lying is really not a good thing but there might be circumstances in which lying could probably save someone's life.

Yes, there are times that we have to lie. Once, i lied to a kid that her mother is actually suffering from an illness.

No, whether it is white lies, it is still a form of cheating and lying will always be a sin. Lying is not good.

Perhaps. But it is far better to structure your life with wise words and actions so that nobody will ever ask you questions that you have to lie about to answer.

For me it is not good to lie. Lie is a sin. There is no white lies.

Yes because not all of your sins should be confessed to other people. Sometimes you just have to keep it to yourself so that you won't hurt them and just confess to a priest.

Sometimes. but that's still a sin, but i lie because i dont want to hurt someone's feeling but that's still bad but people isn't perfect and never will be perfect.

Ofcourse yes if only it will not do any harm. Sometimes you need to lie to get things done right.

I generally restrain from doing any such task that may end in getting lie, by this way i dont need to have lie to someone

Nobody is totally free from sin or is perfect and lie is something that is infectious and spread by contact. you cant do anything

Always remember to lie as less as possible, because once you get used to it, you never know what you might be lying about someday.

Yeah and i think in this case the lie wasnt a harmful one. But he shouldnt get use to it Because from experience one get to forget the lies, when its too much.

I think that if for example in a job interview the truth I think they are pious lies

A lie is a lie but for me its okay to lie sometimes in order to save your own self or someone but still cant make trouble to anyone.

Lying is sometimes not sinful if lying for good, even by lying like that, you can get merit from god.

It may be good to lie about someones appearance if you don't want to insult them, so you call them good looking.  Lying just ends up creating more lies so most times is better just to tell the truth though.

We sometimes lie to hide what we did. But I think in the end things that we've told lies will soon know the truth. They may laugh, cry or get angry. So I cannot say lying is good sometimes.

Well white lies is good at some point you want to save something for yourself but naked lies is not good for yourself because it steals the truth about yourself that you already living with a lie

Lying mostly brings us immediate benefit. But from a long term view, lying is wrong. There's actually no case scenario where lying is GOOD, it is always bad. But there are times we consider some things as necessary evil/bad. In spite of this, lying brings too much fear and insecurity. Lying would save you today but always give you that feeling, "what if I am discovered?" The other thing with lying is the fact that you have to keep covering it up. So, one single lie produces a series of lies. It is always best to just tell the truth. For example, if you're not a habitual latecomer, I don't believe your boss would sack you for faltering once.

In times like that, we cannot avoid lying because we have to. Yet we feel sorry about it. Sometimes it is better not to tell the truth so that everything will go fine. No issues at all. No more dramas or whatever. It's just your conscience will bother you. At least you just save yourself.
