Blockchain could help them to revive their company. Gaming industry has a lot of potential in blockchain.
I would like to see them shiny like sometimes. Well I am the fan of Pac Man :)

That sounds very good. I wonder for a long time, why the games industry has not already entered the crypto market. I think that would also reach many people.
But I think there are already considerations in the background and I think in the next few years they will take the step.

Pac man is such a classic game from my childhood. It is wise choice for Atari to invest in crypto. Hope to see the latest version of pac man integrate with blockchain launching.

I believe all these dying companies are just using Blockchain and making coins/tokens to get some bump in their stock prices. Maybe to bail out when it reaches high enough. The CEO has just thrown some high-fi words without actually telling what they are going to do with the technology. First Kodak, Now Atari. whats next?  Sony Ericsson?

I really wonder what their plans for this new altcoin are, probably a currency to be used for in-game payments, I reckon.
That said, it's kind of crazy how many companies are jumping on the crypto bandwagon.

I wouldn't have thought that all of these major companies would be investing so much into crypto.

There's a lot of gaming ICO's company that's is correlated into cryptocurrency itself, some of them used the eth blockchain making them accessible via ERC20 wallets for their currencies or tokens and some of them literally created their own blockchain for their own platforms, in the former days Steam accepts bitcoin as a form of payment for their platform but in the present they are not accepting anymore due to its nature problems with volatility, speed and transaction cost.

I think it's good to invest in the new coins that appear, those with potential, like BPS, an ICO from bitpaction.com (http://bitpaction.com). I see great future for this coin and what they offer.

Everything for the money. They are not the first nor last company that will try to melt in with this crypto trend. You can see their stock prices even went up now and can't imagine how much they can grab during ICO funding. Same when you have companies that are changing their names to blockchain and other crypto related stuff because they see if they do they can grab more people and create better value of their company. Same why Kodak is going crypto etc.

Nothing spectacular about this news really.

Atari has been incorporating some stange strategies into the company over the last few years, some of them involving gambling, casinos, LGBT-themed games, and now cryptocurrencies... one has to wonder, what could their goal be for the long-term?

Honestly, I think we all know that if it wasn't for the brand (Atari) this could very well be yet another shitcoin. I believe they're just trying to jump on the cryptocurrency bandwagon to try to stay relevant given how the crypto market is becoming the new trend for declining companies (look at Kodak) to create some sort of interest from investors. They need come up with something new and attractive (in-game currency does sound good), otherwise, this coin will be a failure.

Also, 'Atari Token', the creative department knocked it out of the park with the name.

will there be an ico or presale?

That is very nice knowing that the leading video game company is into crypto.  It can or should I say would really influence bitcoin growth.  Plus since Atari is a reputable company, bitcoin will be used by many and many will invest in it.

Wow it s great to hear that name again. It was not only video games, you know. I had Atari 800 XL as a boy, and it was one of the first computers. I definitely have a lot of sentiment towards that name, unlike for Kodak or Sony ... If they have a coin or ICO, I will consider it out of that sentiment alone

Right now the Pakman fans will come. I, too, are a fan and therefore their beginnings for me are always bleeding like hearts, waiting with unbearability.

If they make a large purchase inside of various famous Bitcoin exchanges then the price of Bitcoin should be worth much more than the current price. Where does all their money go?

That’s great news! The Atari 2600 was my first home video game console way back in the ‘80s. I hope they make successful comeback, not just copying what Kodak did.

if this one is true,well i might say we should celebrate because this company is one of the famous wayback 80's and 90's and until now many of us wanted to hear every new update about them.i will be waiting for further news about Ataris invesment on us.

That's just not true; I can't even think of one reason for the video game industry to even want the blockchain. I can see a reason for a universal currency, but even then it's a stretch of the imagination that companies would allow for decentralized to come into their centralized market.

Atari did this to raise their own stock price. Not going to do anything for them in reality.

They are not investing on Bitcoin, or any cryptocurrency, we are investing on their token.

If they invest on us, their market will crash, nobody should invest on shitposters, how many Bitcoins do you have to include yourself in us? where should we celebrate? I would come if there is any 18 years old girl.

pac man is my fav game, i hope not token, but coin, it will more worth and profitable for company. but is it not too late to start now? there are too many modern games was first jump to blockchain game
