Let's say I bought all my altcoins with ETH and all of us sudden, ETH disappears from the market. would everyone who bought their altcoins with ETH lose their entire investment? just wondering what would happen to all the alt coin holders who bought their alt coins with ETH  if that ever happened (of course I know it never will)

If the ethereum blockchain will disappear and then all of the assets that already listed on there will be following ethereum platform to be disappeared too. But remember the team can try to issued the new asset in another blockchain and it's not a big problem but with the fact of ethereum is number 2 of coinmarketcap and this question is a bit irrational in my opinion.

Technically you wouldn't lose anything as you would still have just as much as the supply as you always did of those coins, they would just have to adopt another platform. Highly unlikely though the number two coin goes down, we are almost at that public phase of "We want DAPPS, but the Ethereum blockchain itself is useless". Once we get to that level of awareness Ethereum has made it (and believe me we are almost there!)

Many altkoins are traded not only in pairs with the etherium, but also with bitcoin, usdt. If you have problems with the etherium, you can always change them for these currencies, possibly at a lower price, but you will not lose everything

Theoretically, as long as you still have ETH and somehow a copy of the blockchain, you don't lose your ETH. It's still there somewhere. Just that no one attaches any value to it.

Technically, this is a possible scenario for Bitcoin and all crypto. As long as people attach value to it, you don't need to worry. But yeah. Technically everything could be zero value one day. US dollar. Gold. Crypto.

this is right,the coins will remain until adoption happens.another platform is only need for the coins to back in circulation..but dont bother cause ethereum will never gone.this platforms believe to be the next bitcoin,and i see no reason for eth to gone for good.have faith and keep trusting

I think its very unlikely but if it happens you don't need to worry as team of developers can always carry your coins to another chain/platform. It may be very long, painful process but it works..

your altcoins will not disappears, even if eth gone,,
but, i believe eth will never gone from the markets, because eth is the best altcoins for now

There are two scenarios which could happen if ETH disappears.

scenario 1: If you bought a coin like say, doge , verge with ETH then you will not be affected by the disappearance of  ETH as you can exchange those coins with BTC or even USDT

scenario2:  If you bought coins the ERC20 or the coins based on ethereum blockchain so if ETH disappears and those tokens have not got their main net up yet then you could lose your coins.

No, if that could be possible somehow your alts would be safe.

I think it is true. Because coin evolved on the ETH platform. If ETH disappears, all of the coins disappear. and even the coins you have bought. it will not :o

Why would ETH disappear? Possibly other shticoin could be gone starting year 2020 but ETH? no it will not because ETH are very useful and had an amazing technology which help a lot in our economy and industry. So don't worry ETH will go $10000 in the following years.

I hope this will not happen, this is not a serious problem and there is no chance for eth to disappear. If you keep a private key, then your assets will not be lost.

You won't lose everything, you have already purchased the coins or the tokens with your ETH, after purchasing the items was already in your wallet, if the ETH will disappear, BTC is still there, hence, their price will be based on BTC. Its like when you buy a candy with a play money even the play money loose its value, the fact that the candy is yours. You can just trade the candy with a lollipop.

What kind of disappearance you are referring to? Technically which is the total shutdown of ETH blockchain or price total crash that makes it zero value in the market resulting in a disappearance, if it's about the price or value then its a 50-50% chance that your entire investment will get back that will depend on the current situation of the market, if your asking technically then your eth are not gonna disappear just wait for the new platform adaptation like the above said.

But to answer your question, almost all altcoins are based on ETH, so if for some reason ETH just disappears, every token will too.

Your ETH number will not be lost. The crypto market is perfectly programmed to protect the assets of investors. If ETH has collapsed, other altcoins using ETH technology will keep your assets. You should not be too worried about your investment. The important thing to do is update daily information to see what investments you should invest in altcoin.
