Title: Nvidia Graphic Card Release, and cryptocurrencies
Post by: loganloganlo on February 21, 2018, 02:18:30 PM
Nvidia is set to release a new graphics card this year at some point, possibly March-June time frame. I personally believe that there will be a spike in currency prices, anyone else think that this could be possible?

Why would there be a correlation here? Nvidia literally releases a new series of graphics card every single year (for the past 5+ years) -- around the same time of the year.

Because this is supposed to be the next gen of card, and when there's new cards people will hype, and more miners along with it.

it is possible for sure, crypto is gaining traction and mining is gaining traction also because of the increasing alt coins.
People are entering the mining side of crypto more and more according to this report.
and the bottom line is people want "free" coins.

There was a report a few weeks ago about how nvidia has broken previous sales records ending in January.
here is the link from the Press section: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2909042.0
and the link in that thread: https://hype.codes/nvidia-breaks-sales-records-due-miners

I think OP meant that NVIDIA are designed a special crypto GPU and plan to release it very soon. Samsung also got orders for ASICS.

IMO this may bring only a small correction to GPU coins like ETH and BTG.

I think the ETH price will increase a lot of they decide to release the new gen GPU because it will make the network faster and safer. Also Bitcoin have a lot of new mining hardwares every months but it didn't impact the price.

My guess is that they're going to be hopefully making more production on the new gens, currently the issue is to much demand and not enough supply. These new 2080s are next gen, and much faster hashing.

I think this is a good thing for the space in general not talking about the price now, because having a big company like Nvidia making significant amount of money from the space, they will want the space to keep growing and help to lobby for better legislation

I don't think there is any correlation, but as more miners involved in this business today, there is a probably good effect. This is bad for those who buy these cards for other purposes.

Maybe NVIDIA is Satoshi Nakamoto and they created Bitcoin just to sell more graphics cards!  :o

It is possible, but not like 100% sure that it will rise.
In my country, you won't be able to find any good graphic cards, all are sold out!

I think because of cryptocurrencies, this industry boomed and continue to grow, people can't even find good cards at cheap prices. There will be interesting new graphic cards.

Why?  New card will make it easier to get more coins...shouldn't the price stay or go down instead???

Law of supply and demand.

The only time I can see this positively impacting the coin value is if the coin (transactions are stalling and) need much more hash power than currently available.

Yeah. I also do not see the correlation. If anything the opposite of what he is saying could be true.

Not really sure about the correlation of new released graphic cards and cryptomarket prices. For mining, people prefer to buy 2hand cards due to very cheap price for the same outcome. POW concept is dying slowly, - another no that new card release will not have huge effect for market prices.

If the new graphics card is a hot seller, then it should be good for Nvidia stock. Nvidia stock has already
gone up a lot due to their booming graphic card sales driven by crypto mining. Do not see how the graphics
card can affect crypto prices.

I think that if there is a surge, it will not be great. There is not much difference between the previous generation.

It seems nvidia company was seeing so many Pc gamers getting triggered due to the 2x increase for GPU caused by miners. Anywhere in my country latest GPU just like a rare thing. I can't find that in so many stores.
That's why Nvidia was trying to issued new GPU for crypto. But i think that the result will be the same. GPU still in the demand by miners.

Are you dumb? What the fuck was wrong with you?
