Post by: LarryTex on February 21, 2018, 04:02:56 PM
I need assistance is retrieving "Private Keys" for "Watch only" Transactions in my Block Chain Account? It is also telling me that I have to consolidate multiple Unspent transactions because I have so many smaller ones under $50.00?
But I need some one who can help me with acquiring "Private Keys" so that I can withdraw from MyBlock Chain account.
Can anyone help me with this Issue please ?

Thank You Larry

As ar as i know you don't need the private key for a "watch only" wallet.

Privatekey use only if u want your balance to get into use , otherwise there is no need to use Privatekey to check balance

Just use https://blockchain.info/address/PUT_YOUR_BTC_ADDRESS_HERE

If you want to retrieve a paperwallet through Privatekey here is a tutorial :- http://toppayingsites.net/tutorials/how-to-redeem-bitcoin-paperwallet/

No, there's no way to do that. If you don't have the seed containing of that address then the funds of that wallet is forever lost.

BTW where do you get that address?

I suspect that this is the modus operandi being mentioned on past days.Im not quiet sure if hes got victimized by that or not which someone do give a 1BTC but it turns out to be a watch-only which I do suspect that hes trying to access it that's why he do ask about private keys. This is only my suspicion though.

I'm assuming that this watch-only address is yours and not just a random snatch that you imported.

The big question is where did this address came from? Normally a watch-only address can't just be there by default unless someone imported it
The exception is if you created your wallet before blockchain.info changed to HD wallets, there's a possibility that your address/es then will show up at the imported addresses tab either as "watch-only" or as not.

So did you created your wallet a long time ago or do you have any idea where did this address came from?

I just read about this form of scam just this morning and I even commented about how so many people would have fallen for it not knowing I would read the same thing here in the PM. Op will be the first victim I am seeing. Its obvious greediness has gone the wrong way which is one key reason why this question is asked with a new account now he is looking for a private key to claim what does not exist. My advise, just count your losses and move on. Take it as part of the lessons you have to learn in crypto world and again, nothing is free even if it seems so.

The worst thing on here is that he might able to transfer that 0.5 balance to the scammer which being asked by him after he sees a balance to the wallet given. If he does then for sure a big loss for him paying out money for a fake watch-only address.I have seen some threads having the same problems on how to attain private keys of a watch only wallet which I do presume that those came from a one source and newbies now having a problem on the keys blinded by their greed.

Anyone can create a "watch only wallet" just by creating a wallet using the extended public key instead of the backup seed.
You cannot move funds from these wallets unless you have the corresponding private key to sign the transactions with.

Watch only wallets are literally just that. Watch only.

If you type in any address then you will receive the balance and the full transaction history of the address. Unlike traditional bank accounts, everything on the bitcoin blockchain is public and accessible - doesn't mean you can actually spend the coins, though. It's like trying to get the private key off a random address you find, you just can't.

Please speak out if you have gotten scammed by anyone using this "watch only" method.

It's not unheard of and people have been trying to impress their friends with this method ever since blockchain.info existed.

Apparently not. Y'all must see this:
It's a scam. Let me show you how they intend to dupe you:

1. They convince you to hand over your Blockchain wallet's login credentials. With that information, they access your account and click on the settings tab:

2. Within the settings tab, they click on addresses:

followed by + import bitcoin address:

3. A pop up box appears, prompting for a public address or a private key:

In this example, let's use the dormant address 14WWrJMGPo43mAoLXoH53pREAEUAFFW66T

After pasting this address in the box and clicking on the light blue import button, you are prompted to confirm the import process:

Notice the extremely believable balance:

If you verify the balance, it does exist:

https://blockchain.info/address/14WWrJMGPo43mAoLXoH53pREAEUAFFW66T

A scammer who, for example, offers Skype video proof can use this as evidence of having bitcoins. If you are not aware of the watchlist feature, you might be convinced and if you are one of the gullible ones, might even proceed with paying first, thinking along the lines of Hey this guy has millions so he can't be a scammer?! Let me quickly send him that 1 BTC!

Do not fall for this scam. Ask for signed proof of bitcoin ownership.

OP, don't be scammed. Think! Why would they put money on your account and risk losing it, given it's YOUR account and not theirs? Go ahead and follow the above steps. Stopping scams is most effective when you understand how these thieves do it.
