Title: DannyHamilton imposter?

Should this user be tagged? The name is pretty deceptive and not really a parody account or anything so could be used for shenanigans in the future.

I didn't want to be imposter. I simply created a user name, I didn't do anything to cheat anyone, why give me negative trust?

'Simply a user-name' - This is the most creative you have got in life when it comes to choosing a user-name right ? You're correct you don't deserve a negative trust, you deserve to be banned for being so creative.
I often see members with user-names like 'Sat0shi Nakam0to' etc which should be banned as well.

Before that, I didn't know the existence of the user name of DannyHamilton. I just created this account and it didn't take long. Do I have the freedom to create a user name?

You can try sending a Username change request to Theymos for this. But I dont think he entertains this sort of stuff anymore as far as I have heard.

You can still contribute to the forum with this account because that is what one creates an account on a forum - to join the discssions and to get to know new things about something they previously did not know.

I am sure you have something else in mind.  :P

There are many probability to create a name in this forum.

But if someone using the name of well known member, I believe the chance level of being coincidence is really really low except they already aware that DannyHamilton already exist and you already know that he is the most trusted member of this forum

YES YOU DO!  Don't let anyone tell you otherwise!

I also have the freedom to distrust you for your choice of name.   :-\

I don't for one minute believe that you created this username randomly and without knowing the existence of the original account in question. Claiming so makes this situation look much worse and suspicious in my opinion. Changing n to m is a well known tactic of impostors.

Why did you choose to create the username 'DannyHamilton" ?

Is that your name?

Did you just randomly think it up?

I noticed that the real DannyHamilton recently red-tagged a bunch of merit-beggars (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=trust;u=60820).  Such actions usually do raise the ire of spammers, scammers, and net.abusers of all kinds.

@hilarious, thanks for the heads-up on this!

A scammer tried this back in 2013 as well.  :/

That's not the case here, DannyHamiltom created his account before the Merit system even existed.

No, LoyceV is correct; and the pertinent part is, the imposter account was created 2018-01-09.  I noticed that later.  Should have edited my post to append a correction.

Oh sorry.  I assumed we were talking about the real DannyHamilton.

The fake one should definitely be tagged, or even better banned, so this type of mistake doesn't happen again.
