Hi creative designers,

I am organizing a Logo Contest for my website "Shorting Bitcoins (http://www.shortingbitcoins.com)" offering a whopping 2 Bitcoin in prizes.
The site is fresh and I already have my bitcoins working for me by hiring 3 article writers. They will deliver their articles next week so keep an eye on it.

Requirements
- Must contain text: Shorting Bitcoins
- Must contain shape: Bitcoin
- Must be in Vector
- Must be in .ai format
- Must fit canvas dimension of 600x450 on delivery, you can show a smaller size which fits on the website.

Prizes
- 1 BTC for the winner determined by BitcoinTalk members voting
- 1 BTC for the winner chosen by me

Bonus
- Any submission with at least 10 votes gains an unbelievable 0.02 Bitcoin for free
- Anyone who blogs about his participation will get a free link on my website. A reciprocal link is not needed, but always appreciated :)

It is possible that that both prizes go to the same person in case I choose the same winner as the community voted for.
This will make the competition fair and collusion will be impossible.

Note: I will escrow the prize of 2 BTC to a reputable BitcoinTalk member who will be disclosed until further notice.

You can use the PSD as a base and recreate it in vector. If anyone can do this and make it even smoother it will surely be my winner.

Ok. My BTC50cts. I decided a more playful route. A bit like what Google did: depart from the nerdy search engines and come up with something people can relate to. Who thinks of the googolplex when seeing the name Google?

I wanted to emphasize on the ups and downs of a currency's value by displaying the five bitcoin logo's at different elevations and emphasize this even more by the 'outlines of coins' going through the words Shorting and Bitcoins. These outlines also help in establishing the playfulness.

Also you'll notice the lower coins are drawn in a cartoonist style while the top one is the official logo in the website's base color. This is done to create a bridge between the people who are into bitcoin from a hobby perspective and those who are in it professionally. The bridge between playfulness and business.

Dimensions are 600x450. I can resize it if it's too big.

You are right, i was just wondering how this will fit on the site and why so many are so different in aspect ratio.

The linechart is on a good way, I'm looking to for a logo which includes a line.

The line should show a "Shorting" opportunity, the "Head and Shoulder" pattern in a round canvas.

The circle should be smaller, and I want the BTC sign on it. Maybe a border for the circle.

The "Shorting" text doesn't have to be red, but it would be nice to have it both words in different contrasting colors.

I like this one, especially when you resize it to small size it looks good but you have to remove the Text and also do the light gradient glass effect better.

You're improving. However, you won't see the dashed lines when you zoom out. So don't be to detailed make sure it looks clear and not blurry when you zoom out.
Also the borders are very thin when you zoom out. Too much borders . Less is more

I like the border very much but the glass effect is really not cool. Make it simple like

I'll cast my vote for Anon135246. That simply looks like quality and not like some 8yo kid just threw up.

I disagree - there are some very good contributions by more than one entrant in this contest. I think they do not deserve to be described as "8yo kids".

Personally I like the robot ones the most (the last three of them).

Hi, thanks for sharing this. I'm always interested in what views other people have in certain matters. I must say that I agree on most topics you cover. For instance letting other people decide on the look of what is really your calling card is something that should be managed. However, I don't think it's a bad idea. It's a great way of creating some exposure and get some intel on what you intended audience expect of you. This is important information from a commercial perspective.

I know that writing this could cost me a BTC but I like sharing these kind of thoughts more than I like BTC. It's also a good source of feedback for me. When people are sharing their thoughts on my contributions I also get intel on how I can improve. Even if I'm called a eight year old.  ;D That's really my reason for playing these games. A little exposure and intel on how my intended audience wants to see things...   :)

Are some people trolling or using more  then one account? Maybe. But when managed by the OP this shouldn't be a reason to let a very good source of feedback pass.

On the glassy bit. Most logo's used on website and other media are flat.  That's true. My design also started out flat. But it evolved into a glassy look. This isn't a noob thing. It just happened. Just as Bitcoin just happened.

Will the voting time be lengthened (because of the bitcointalk downtime)?

Would be best to take the opportunity to restart the entire voting in a separate thread, with the first post being an organized overview of all submissions. In addition some incentive to vote should be given (raffle some bitcents among all voters).

This way hopefully more independent members will give their vote.


It makes no sense determining popularity of a design with less than ten people voting.
