Title: Investing to other securities in BTC world
Post by: Jay84 on September 23, 2013, 03:06:44 PM
Hi everyone, newbie here. Got one guestion. I'd like to buy some shares on Havelock but dont undertand security behind all this. If I buy shares of say ASICMINER, what will happen if Havelock for whatever reason disappears from net. Specifically, how do I prove, that I am the owner? I am sorry for posting it here but I am newbie and due to restriction I cannot post it anywhere else. Thanks for any help!

I personally think your best bet is just investing in BTC itself.
That is already risky enough and with that you are betting on the whole BTC community.
It's already fancy enough.

Yes, sure I know and I am invested. But there are some interesting startups anyway which I'd like to support and maybe earn a buck on the way..

I am speaking of this specifically https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=289730.0

That's a good question, looks like you'll just have to trust "on word" ...

PS: I also bought 1000 shares ...

I'd just buy bitcoins. the scam is huge in this field and not worth it in my opinion

I don't think it's just about trust. For example, when you are buying ASICMINER shares, you are registered somewhere as is written here on havelock website.

https://www.havelockinvestments.com/fund.php?symbol=AM1

Someone at ASICMINER actually know, that you own their stocks. I just don't understand the process, even after reading it  :) Anybody has a link or anything where I can learn more?
