Welcome to the forum and the bitcoin world. I have a resource that might be very valuable for you...

Check out Exchanges Overview on CryptoCompare.com (https://www.cryptocompare.com/exchanges/#/overview)

They list loads of the exchanges available for a lot of cryptocurrencies. You can sort by their rating system and see which coins are supported by each exchange.

As you continue your search keep in mind that your Country of residence may impact the exchanges that are available to you. Good luck!

I used to use Poloniex a lot and had good experiences with them and liked the platform. The main things that made me switch was they stopped their chat box so you could no longer have real time conversations on the exchange with other customers and secondly I heard that some people were having problems with withdrawals and support.

I decided to switch over to Bitfinex which I liked a lot too and they also had IOTA on that exchange which I wanted to buy. Then they stopped allowing US customers so I had to switch again.

This time I chose Binance. I really like Binance so far because they have a lot of good coins and their platform is good.

There are still lots of exchange places besides poloniex which is good including me, I used to use redeem such as bittrex, hitbtc, and also etherdelta I often use the place of exchange.

Poloniex had a lot of issues last summer, that is why they receive such huge flack as of late but generally they are decent as an exchange. However, I myself prefer trading mainly on Binance now but that is purely because they have most of the alts I had as of late. As long as the exchange doesn't scam me and has sufficient funds I could honestly care less, I traded XRB on Bitgrail and that worked out excellent. For me in that regard, there is no best exchange, just exchanges.

Etherdelta is a great exchanger. I have used it for quite sometime now and it has been great. The only thing you have to watch out for is, as always, be cautious when on exchangers. Ether delta is beauiful

In my opinion, bitfinex and binance are the best exchanges. I dont heard any issues about it even now. And i dont experience anything negative about it. So i recommend binance and bitfinex at all.

In my opinion, the exchange in poloniex is good, but there are also many good exchange places like bittrex which also have a high level of security, as well as a very large trading volume in the market.

Find a Bitcoin Exchange has been at tedious task for quite some time.  Speaking as someone from the United States the only decent exchanges for a while were Coinbase and Kraken.  Since those days things have gotten better and it seems like every day I see a new exchange pop up.  Be careful on which exchange you use however and never store your own coins at that exchange, make sure to always move coins to a paper wallet or hardware wallet such as Trezor.

My personal Favs- Binance, Coinbase, Kraken.

I used binance its smooth working and no issues as of now, I did not try other exchanges but i read lots of article regarding exchanges most of them are vulnerable in hacking, so the best practice here is not to store lots of money in exchanges because we will end up loser. i read on the news about exchanges being hacked no one get their funds from the owner.

I dont store anything on the exchange i will just shuffle from my ledger to the exchange to make my trades and get in and out. Probably just gonna stick with poloniex since im familiar.
Good info guys thanks appreciate it

Poloniex is one of the best exchanges site as of now and for sure even they will have problem to random people it's not problem to become popular this exchanges site. You can try to trade also in this exchanges site like bittrex, bibox, etherdelta. That exchanges site have not issue so you can start trade there.

poloniex is one of the top exchange site. But some peoples are using Bittrex and bitfinex so these two also good exchanges in crypto platform.
If you want to change your exchange site you should try that else use poloniex because this is also best exchanges sites.

Overall Coinbase is the best. Binance is great for altcoins. Gemini is pretty good too. For Europeans, Kraken can be good. And of course bittrex.

You have obviously not run into any problems with Coinbase yet? Their Helpdesk & Support is one of the worst I have ever experienced. They have grown much too fast for their service desk and it shows in the quality of support you get from them. I think Gemini is the better option here, but I am being biased.

Your geographical location will also determine which exchanges you can use, so make sure you check their ToS.

Dude, there is not something like "best exchange" because I say there is not something like "best exchange"?

Because these exchange do not have physical office where you know you can go and complain in person if you have any problems, these exchange do not have a phone number to answer the support tickets... these exchanges are not regulated so that you can easily go complain to the police and the police and the courts will easily solve your problem.

What we do is only use the exchange even if we know that these exchange do not render good service. we have no other option.

Of course the Poloniex is one of the best and well know exchanges where the fee structure is much lower when compared to the other excahnge but there are many other exchages are also available but each have a negativity of poor customer support. If someone accidentaly met an issue with the sending or recieving their funds when they are trying to contact that exchange it takes weeks too get response from them,so I will say none of the exchanges are best yet.

In the past there were many issues arise in the poloniex but after that many exchanges came into the crypto world and now i would like to trade on BItgrail which is quite good and useful for me i have trade many times and this exchange is good at all like the currencies are now actively traded while in the past people would like to hold a specific currency for years but they are now checking the crypto market and they goes with it. So it is good according to me.

also I like cryptopia but now there are unusual delays with deposit and withdrawals and silent support, which makes me sad
bittrex is also no so bad..

to have a legit one, I have but to have a best one , I cant say about that. because (cryptopia, hitbtc, binance, Idex) are I can say the legits exchange site because I didn't experience any issues yet. I can use them to make profits from my coins and have a deep trust. but to say that who is the best one, its hard to say. because they are both trusted.

Trading platforms are the main concentration area of me so I can say in general to be sure that has  good reputation, few fees, verification requirement must be well enough ad I think the most important is the volume as much as high volumes . Nowadays in the market so many problems arise from the exchange platforms fraud, hack etc. we have to be very careful.

I am currently a newbie in bitcoin. However, I do not want to lose to users who have long used bitcoin. however, if I use an exchange like poloniex, bittrex, binance, etc. I have difficulties when the exchange service does not support the banks in my country so I only use exchange service that supports withdraw from the bank I use vip.bitcoin.co.id because by using the exchange service I can do withdraw easily without having to exchange currency first.

I have an account with Bittrex, Poloniex and Binance.
Poloniex had some issues before I opened an account. Since September 2017, it looks fine to me, never had any problem.
Bittrex had some issues by the end of 2017. I had an enhanced account, then they blocked my account, I couldn't withdraw any money because of a name mismatch that they created for many customers. It took months to fix the problem, but it looks fine now.
I have a course on Udemy, I tried Binance for my students because I wanted to give some alternatives to Bittrex and Poloniex. I must say that it seems to be the best one.
I still use Bittrex mainly because it gives you so many choices, but Poloniex and Binance look good to me.

For trading alts, my choices are Bittrex, KuCoin and Binance, I'm finding myself on KuCoin most lately though.

I have account on Bitstamp for about 4 years and never had issue with this exchange. Transfers and withdrawals without problems.
Binance is very good for Altcoin trading. I really recommend this.
Both exchanges offer 2FA authentication and have stable capital reserves.

In my own opinion all exchanges are good and they have different quality or unique platform because people are used to it even the other people say its a sh*t or crap because they have a bad issue but not at all users or investors. But when you stick to the first or second exchanges and your satisfied about there services then you can say that this is the good exchanges. We have different taste about this exchanges so goodluck 😁

Very well said ;D All exchanges are risky even the best one that most of people have said, just what you have said there is no physical office and what ever. For someone that is not having an issue to a certain exchange it will surely be one of the best exchanges for him/her but if that exchange have issues to other people it will be not the best exchanges for them but it is better to do a lot of research about rating on exchanges before sending your funds to it. I personally have bad experience on one of the top exchanges so it is better to trade at your own risk and don't depend to what other people have said. ;D

There's an nice review of all the top bitcoin exchanges: https://www.bestbitcoinexchange.io/ just use the table to choose which place suits your needs best (beginner-friendly, credit card purchases, USA/EU location, bank transfer, no verification...). Coinbase is n1 for a reason: beginners feel at home, it's got some good extra features as you progress (eg vault storage), and it's possible to branch out and try new projects (eg ethereum).

It's actually not good if you're not checking usually the tab , it will get lag and stuck and manually you have to reload it.
The problem here is you will get this situation all the time and with traders, getting the wrong information from the exchanger is really annoying .
That's why many traders are turning their back to Poloniex and finding another new exchange like Binance or Bitfinex.

you ask if it is safe...
this is an opportunity for people who have very small amount,so small that it is impossible to exchange on most of exchangers.
I propose an exchange possibility.
Do you really believe I will scam for  few dollars though my old name winspiral?
I propose an exchange solution...an exchange I can manage...after the people are old enough to see if it is interesting or not.
I juste propose an opportunity to those who can not do otherwise with their Perfect Money cash.
If you have a better solution for small amounts...I would be interested with.

Poloniex is good exchange but many users facing issues with the receiving and sending coins and they have poor support team so it is the bad thing about poloniex and most of the exchange also has the same kind of attitude with the support team.So we need an exchange with instant help from their support team if there is any problem then we can call it as best exchange.

I think that everyone has their own favorite exchange. This can be a perfect different pad. Personally, I really like and I use the binanse. This is a young exchange, an excellent website interface, very convenient, fast execution of orders, many currency pairs. What else attracts me to this exchange is the low commission. Still sometimes I use bitfinex.

As I’ve noticed, probably every exchange was considered a scam by some people at a certain period of summer - autumn 2017, because the platforms were full of new users and couldn’t manage the flow, so was poloniex I guess. Speaking about general consensus, I’d choose among the bunch of top 10 exchanges. That is to say: Kraken, Coinbase, Cex, Bitfinex, Bitstamp etc. I have accounts on the first three and was never scammed or something. Now I most commonly use cex (http://cex.io/).

Like all the coins that you are investing diversification is the key, so is the exchanges you are trading do not put our trust on only one exchange, there are other good exchange like Binance Kucoin, Coss Cryptopia among others so why not trade on other coins instead of only one

Ive been using poloniex with no issues but i keep hearing its not good. Whats the general concensus on the best exchanges?

There are many crypto exchanges website. There are some new scam websites But I think Binance is best. Binance support many multiple crypto.

It depends what you want to do on an exchange as they all have their benefits in certain areas.

I like GDAX as it has lower transaction charges and i've always found it reliable.
A lot of exchanges have ridiculously high transaction charges, Coinbase for example (which many people have complained about for many reasons).
