Hi there!! Do you heard about merit??  What's it for??

Merit is really hot topic bro and it is very important these to earn them of you want to stay at the top or whether you want to earn higher ranks etc. I mean if you are here to earn ranks then I'm sure you will have to focus more and more on the merit system. To earn the merits you have to be very quality poster otherwise you won't sustain here for long time.

However, merit system should not be taken for granted and must work for it very hard. The merit system made so that people can reward each other for posting and helping in quality ways. If people around here love your posts then they can spend merits on you which are allotted to you. You can check your merits in your profile by clicking the merits.

The rest thing can be known from the thread provided by appleyard.

Yes, i heard it, and merit is requirements to rank up. Activies and Merit are the requirements now to rank up. They do this system to prevent spammers to this forum and I agree with that, but it is hard to rank up now because of this merit sytem

Merit is one of the component to get our bitcointalk rank up besides activity points. You can earn merit by posting a good/quality comment in the bitcoin forum thread. If people like your comment/posting and they think that you deserve to earn it then they will give you the merit. We also can give merit to others without decrease our merit points. Merit is also using to minimize the fake/spammer bitcointalk account.

Merit is a pre requisite to rank up to every level, except below:
From brand new to newbie to junior member, no merit requirement is needed.

However, for you to rank up from junior member to member, you must earn 10 merits and that means you must always  have meaningful and relevant posts. I know it's quite difficult but this merit system will be justifiable in the end. I list down some pros and cons of merit system for each of us to understand.

PROs:
1. A member will be motivated to have meaningful post which is relevant to the topic, therefore will lessen shitpost or nonsense reply. It will lessen spammer.
2. A member will focus more on the topic, will be forced to research about it, and will be more knowledgeable regarding the issue itself.

CONs:
1. It will be more difficult to rank up as it will take longer than before.
Most of the members who are currently in junior level prior to the merit system will stay in that level for maybe quite sometime unless they will earn 10 merits to reach member level and member rank will take a long time to reach full member unless they earn 100 merits and so on.

Hi there!! Do you heard about merit??  What's it for??

Merit is for people who are assets to the community. They start useful threads, they know how to read, and they aren't too lazy to read threads, and who help other members with their replies.

The ignore button is for people like you who don't contribute anything of value, clutter the boards, and are too lazy to correct their typing errors.

It's original objectives are to reduce or eliminate spammers and account farmers; then build up strong, clean and informative forum for bitcoiners and altcoiners.

Hi there!! Do you heard about merit??  What's it for??

Merit system implemented almost a month ago,but you just now heared about that.I shows that how much you are lazy and we can predict the post quality of you from this question itslef.

Merit is like an point which will be awarded if you have high quality posts and the posts which gives good contribution to that discussion,so the people may merit you if they feel that is useful to others, and it is for rank up also, you need denifite amount of merit to rank up with the old combination of activity.

Everyone on this forum have heard about merit by now. It's a necessary evil which no one can avoid. If anyone here claims otherwise then that person is telling lies and deceiving himself.  To gain a new rank merit is required and anyone who is due and hasn't ranked up should've asked why. Then merit necessity comes in.

Merit is need to rank up, activities plus merits are the requirements to rank up, example you are member with 60activities and 10merits to rank up you need 120activities plus 100merits. So to gain merits you need to create a valuable and constructive post to gain merits. So its so hard to rank up now.

Merit?  Hmm! Though it's well organized program, it will help to bring logic post in the forum and do not make the forum shabbily with nonsense post. But my question is who is supposed to mark and give merit to nice post/threat? . And I like to share to my idea concerning merit awards giving, and that is, the forum moderators should organize some individuals people who should be reading and marking  post which can be rewarded . That will help people who has the will to work hard and rank up would be easy for them.
I'm very sure my idea would be considered and something must be done for this problem.
              THANKS.

Well I also agree with what you said, I also often see some accounts become spammers and there are some who just posted a thread not in the correct forum category. Maybe it will be better if the spammers are reduced in this forum so that some useful and meaningful threads in the forums will be there.

Having a constructive and useful posts is not enough even you that criteria you would not receive merit because some users makes another account so that their merit will go back to them.

No one has mentioned this yet... but merit also acts as a trust system. People are more likely to do trades with people who have merit than those who don't have any merit.

Merit is mainly used as a gatekeeper to keep spammeRs from ranking up and spamming all over the forums for signature campaigns.

Btw, your original post is so spammy.

What we got here. Another question about what is Merit System huh. You're already a Jr. Member, you must be related about Merit now. Let me tell you something, I hope I'll be able to help you with my few knowledge about Merit. Well, in my own words. Merit system is a new Ranking system of the Forum which you need to acquire the required amount of Merit points in order to rank up. You can get merit points from other members of this forum, but receiving a merit is not easy. In order to gain merits points. You must create a unique, constructive, helpful and high quality posts. A post with all of these characteristics has a possibility to receive Merit points. Remember, besides from these, you must not spam here in the forum or else you will lose some members trust.

Well, that's all. Some informations are already provided by other member here. Try to read their posts if you really like to learn more about merits. You should visit Mr. Theymos thread too.

That's true. I understand that you're new to this forum but before taking actions, just like posting a thread that asks a question that has been asked more than I can remember, you should read through the boards first. I know that as a newbie you should be full of curiosity with everything around this forum and with that curiosity, the urge to find answers is unbearable. So before starting redundant topics, remember to at least try answering your own question by researching or reading around and make sure that what you're trying to ask is something that needs new answers or clarifications.

Merit is the point given to you if you have a qualified post and sMerit(sendable merit) you can also send merit to others. Merit is to reduce shit poster in this forum. To get merit you should have a constructive and useful posts but for my experience about merit system, having a constructive post is not enough to be merited because no one gives.

You started with praising the merit system and then moved on to how it is not working. First of all, decide yourself what you really want to communicate here.  If you are clear about the rules here, you will also be in a better position to rank up here.

In my opinion merit system is still very new. It is designed a way that it keeps improving itself with time. This happens as we will see the default merits getting dried up. Most of the scammers sending merits to all accounts would also have got recognised in some time.

You are wrong. Merit system is not a ranking system. This one is simply one of ranking system's components, including activities and merit points. In fact, merit system was launched to motivate forum users to be more constructive, helpful; and most importantly to control forum spammers.

Merit system was implemented to motivate the community to avoid spamming, making shit posts, posting bounty reports, etc. Since most people want to rank-up fast, people will try their best to make constructive posts. It's not mainly for ranking-up, it's just another requirement for an account to rank up aside from activity.

Maybe, because Merit isn't talk about High Quality Post in English and not limited by Language.
I mean, People in Your Local Board can give you some merits as long they want to give with reasonable and logical Post. But, English is Global Language in this forum. So, if you want get merit from other people, make understandable post in English. ::)

Dude refer the earlier thread before posting such. We do have moderators posting reason on the new implementations. The expectation is getting quality posts from users and clean up shit/spam posts and posters in the from. It has been doing so fantastic. Each rank would be given smerits. The smerit differs to each rank.  Need to receive merits to rank up. Contribute quality posts.
