Title: Fried my Mobo - Z77A-GD65 - Can anyone identify what i've cooked?
Post by: SeaEagle on September 24, 2013, 11:28:23 AM
Gday fellas

Was adding two 1x extenders to my rig today, turned it on and *snap crackle pop* *burning etc*

Fried this part on the mobo (see photo), can anyone identify what it does?

Mobo still works, only get onboard graphics output though, no love from the PCI slots.

FYI I have 7 cards on this rig, 4 of which are powered. I was adding 1x 1x risers (unpowered) to two of the 1x 16x powered risers.

I have done this on another rig with no issues.

its something to do with the PCIe controller, if you look there are always the smae number of chips as there are PCI-e slots (not including PCI slots)

id assume the first one controls the top slot

scroll down to the image of the chips and yours is there it should say p13pcie
which is
"a P13PCIE multiplexer/switch chip to reallocate PCI-E lanes"

have a look where the 24pin power goes to the mobo , and see if 1 or 2 of the pins have burnt away
