You should seriously consider buying a hardware wallet (Trezor or Ledger), mate, it makes sense especially if your crypto-holdings are large enough. Make sure to buy it only from the original manufacturer (NOT from eBay) and verify (by examining a tamper-proof seal) it has not been tampered with. If you follow those precautions, you will be all right and safe from scammers.

As the many guys above me mentioned hardware wallets are best but if you can't afford one then learn method to avoid phishing attempt and other kind of known scamming method.

Go for Paper wallet or online wallet(Blockchain.info is recommended).

Hardware wallets like Trezor[1] and Ledger Nano S[2] would be the best for security, but your wallet's security isn't going to prevent you from getting scammed and phished. Only your own knowledge and awareness can prevent your from getting scammed and phished.

The paper wallet is really safe for storing your Bitcoin, but you can't use it to make transactions. To do that you first need to import the private key (on the paper) in a wallet client. These include desktop wallets, hardware wallets and mobile wallets. There is also a type of wallet called web-wallet but they aren't considered to be very safe, as you store your Bitcoin on a third party cloud. But generally everything open-source is considered to be safe, as you can view the source code and even build it from source yourself.

You can surely buy A hardware wallet like Trezor or ledger but I think that many can not afford to buy a Hardware wallet if that someone is just starting with Cryptocurrency and is just a newbie, I really think you can have trust with an online wallet if you have a knowledge on their office for further complaint or you can be sure on who's to blame if there is something happen with your coins. There is a need for a hardware wallet but I think it is OK to use a online wallet if you are 100% that it is legit.

A hardware wallet provides the most security a wallet can offer at this time. I recommend a Trezor hardware wallet. However as previously stated there are also Nano Ledger S and Keepkey wallets.

I agreed that hardware wallet is one of the best wallet. You can safeguard bitcoin and altcoin that are supported by the wallet. The best part is you can buy one for less than $100. Please be reminded to buy from official sources.

Any of the hardware wallets are the safest ones, it is very easy to steal your bitcoin from mobile and desktop wallets if you don't take any measure against such attacks.

If you hold a decent amount you should really consider a hardware wallet ,in the meantime i would use electrum.
For online wallets i use blockchain.info , it is pretty safe with 2fa , but you don't have access to your private keys.

We all agree that hardware wallets are the safest. However, if you cannot afford one at this time, I recommend that you check out the list of suggested wallets at bitcoin.org. The list includes wallets for the web, desktop, mobile, and hardware. Listed under each wallet is the six criteria that good wallets should meet. If the wallet meets any of these standards, it will appear in green. Therefore, you can choose one based on the standards that matter to you. https://bitcoin.org/en/choose-your-wallet

Like everybody has already said before in this thread, a hardware wallet is the best option when it comes to security.
If you still want to go with a desktop wallet, I can highly recommend Armory, as it's one of the most secure desktop wallets out there.

Do keep in mind that Armory does require you to download the full blockchain and it is meant for multi-signature cold storage.
You asked about a secure wallet, Armory is one, but it's not known for ease of use :P

You can use a hardware wallet if you want complete security but I myself just use a mobile-based wallet. It is called "coins.ph" and it is a popular online wallet in my country. I can store bitcoins there without worrying about my security as long as I don't let anyone touch my phone or get access to my pin. It is also accesible in web but I prefer mobile app to avoid getting phished. One good feature of this wallet is that it allows users to pay bills and get rebates from doing so.

I used Trezor's for the past 3 years.  Didn't even touch one for the past 2 years.  Opened it up in Dec and everything working like it should.  Seriously, who wouldn't want to keep your money safe as possible?

I would suggest coinbase as being the biggest and safest. They are well funded and have been around for a long time. They are also compliant with US law so are unlikely to be attacked from that front.

all the wallets are safety and they are legit that they are spreading in the philippines and in other countries the scammers, and the fault of bitcoin users why hack their wallets because they shashare information about their wallet with people they do not know.

I would definitely suggest Nano S ledger. It is the most secured hard wallet I've ever encountered. nobody can steal your crypto coins and bitcoin without the ledger nano itself. Also, it is equipped with password. Just in case somebody is trying to withdraw from your ledger there is a confirmation needed that will show in the screen of your ledger.

If you like a secured wallet, you can try using hardware wallet like Ledger or Trezor. Electrum for android phone is a secured wallet too. You can donwload Electrum in Google Play Store and I since I'm a Filipino I will also recommend you to use Coins.ph. It is trusted by many Filipino and other people from different country. And let me clear something. You are looking for a secured wallet right?  actually all Bitcoin wallet (Those trusted wallets only) are secured. You will only lose your wallet account if you are careless with your private key or password. Also those people who are victims of phishing sites are careless.

To avoid phishing,
1.Just dont click any links sent by pm from an unknown person
2.Dont click unknown links or websites. It has a possibility that it is a phishing site.
3.Think before you click

To avoid being scammed,
1. Don't trust someone you just met in social media or internet.
2. Make some observations. This is Important.

These are just some tips to avoid phishing and scam. It is not the wallet's fault if you lose your Bitcoin or you wallet account. Remember, all bitcoin wallet has their own pros and cons. All of them are secured. It only depends on you on how you take care of them.

Yes,you are right the security of the wallet can't prevent us from scamming and phishing we need to be aware of what we are doing.By the way hardware wallets are safest or the wallet which provides private key access.

I am using electrum for now because that supporting segwit already so we can save some penny while doing transactions too and it is one of the safest bitcoin wallet too.

MEW (MyEtherWallet) is good and safe for Ethereum and ERC20 tokens. I agree that Electrum is good and reputable wallet for Bitcoin. In fact, they both pair with hardware wallets too, so you can use Electrum or MEW and secure the private keys with a hardware wallet.

3 Common ways to store Crypto

Hardware Wallets

Pro: Hardware wallets keep your investments secure against cyber attacks. Since coins and tokens do not exist in physical form, the wallets instead hold the private keys to the addresses owned by the user.  Hardware wallets store your private key on a small physical device that can be connected to a computer USB port when you are ready to make a transaction. Private keys are generated on and never leave the physical device, preventing them from being compromised by cyber attacks, even if you make a transaction on a computer infected with malware. Commonly-supported coins include Bitcoin, Litecoin, Ethereum Classic, and Dash.

Con: The only downside to hardware wallets is that, unlike other options, you must purchase them.

* Examples and cost:

KeepKey: https://www.keepkey.com/

($129 each, *https://[Suspicious link removed]/yd73on89* (https://www.amazon.com/KeepKey-Simple-Cryptocurrency-Hardware-Wallet/dp/B0143M2A5S/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1517947712&sr=8-3&keywords=keepkey&dpID=41fqIceeeEL&preST=_SX300_QL70_&dpSrc=srch))

The coolest looking tech gadget to show off to your friends. Made by a relatively new company, KeepKey offers a hardware wallet of a polished design. KeepKey is said to be a port of Trezor’s code and firmware, so their main difference is the material. KeepKey feels like a ‘premium’ wallet but might be a little on the heavy side and hence more susceptible to drops. It comes with a standard, simple to use client UI.

Nano Ledger S: https://www.ledgerwallet.com/

($135 each, *https://[Suspicious link removed]/y93f92rm/)*

Is just as secure as the other two hardware wallets. It is popular because of its relatively low price  to its competitors. Being smaller than KeepKey, it is more portable and easier to carry around. It is a hardware wallet that comes at a very competitive price.

Trezor: https://trezor.io/

($110 each, *https://[Suspicious link removed]/yb46zkfd* (https://www.amazon.com/Trezor-bitcoin-wallet-Black/dp/B00R6MKDDE?th=1) )

Is one of the first movers in the hardware wallet industry and sets the gold standard for crypto security. Trezor has a reputation for providing top-notch security, protecting against both virtual and physical theft. What Trezor lacks in style, it more than makes up in the security department. Even if your PC is compromised with malware, your private keys will still be safe with Trezor. In this sense, Trezor is more of a vault than a wallet.

Alot of these prices fluctuate, and you can find them cheaper if you want to dig.  I just linked amazon for quick reference

Here is some more handy info on software apps:

Desktop or Mobile

Pro: Support for multiple cryptocurrencies. They may also include additional features, such as an integrated currency and token exchange. These wallets create and store your private keys on your computer or smartphone

Con:  However, since you most likely use these devices to access the Internet, your wallet may be at risk if your computer or smartphone becomes infected with malware or spyware. Additionally, some desktop clients download a full copy of the blockchain, which can often take up a significant amount of hard drive space.

* Examples and cost:

Exodus: https://www.exodus.io/(Free)
Mist: https://github.com/ethereum/mist/releases (Free)
Jaxx: https://jaxx.io/ (Free)

Browser/Plug-in

Pro: Though only available on Google Chrome, these easy-to-use wallets create and store your private keys on your computer and are always readily available.

Con: As with desktop clients, a web-based wallet is only as secure as the device on which your private key is stored. If the device becomes infected with malware, your key could be compromised.  Highly insecure.

* Examples and cost:

Myetherwallet: https://www.myetherwallet.com/ (Free)
MetaMask: https://metamask.io/ (Free)
Jaxx: https://jaxx.io/ (Free)

To anybody that might want to follow this advice to buy it cheaper someplace else: always buy it from original vendor site only. There were a few scams already, people bought preconfigured devices from eBay very cheaply and the people who had preconfigured the devices stole their funds.

For me, if you are holding a large quantity of coin and you just want to hold it for long term, its better to use a hardware wallet like trezor or ledger nano. You need to buy it but i can assure you that your coins will be more secured and less risk in hacking incident than using only an online wallet.
