Title: Electrum wallet pending for more than a week!
Post by: Sesamstraat20 on February 26, 2018, 06:22:16 PM
Hi there, I need some help.
I've made a "recieve" transaction on my offline default wallet on Electrum, but it has been on "pending" status for more than a week now.
I've tried looking it up on the internet, and I understand that the transaction has to be cleared on different levels, but how long can this take??
I've missed out on several buying opportunities now and don't want to miss out on any more..

How can I find out in wich stadium the transaction is, and when I'll get my bitcoins?
I've bought bitcoins before, but NEVER had to wait this long

Thanks for any information!

Please provide more information. Do we understand correctly that you:
1. Purchased bitcoin, receiving it on your Electrum?
2. When you open Electrum, is it synced with the network (large green button bottom right)?
3. Pending usually just means the tx has not confirmed (picked up by miners and entered into blockchain as a valid tx). Even without wallet, to find out the state of your tx, simply go to any blockchain explorer (like blockchain.info) and enter the tx id. If you don't know what that is, enter the receiving address to look it up. It should show all transactions related to it, as well as their statuses.
4. How long did you wait?

Pending means the money has not been sent. Have you tried looking up the receive address on a block explorer like blockchain.info? If that shows no transaction to the address then contact the sender because they haven't sent you anything yet.

What exactly do you mean by "I've made a "receive" transaction"? ???

Do you mean you gave your wallet address to someone and they sent you bitcoins? If so, who did you buy these coins from? Did they provide you with a transaction ID? If so, have you checked this transaction ID on a blockexplorer like blockchain.info?

Also, if your wallet is "offline", it won't show the transaction history correctly as it can't sync... or do you mean you're looking at the online watching only version of your wallet and it says "pending"? ???

I will risk and say that he's talking about the "payment requests" that can be done with Electrum.

Take a look at the "Requests" history at the bottom. It's showing my "Testing 1" payment request as Pending because I have not received the coins.

That's kind of what I was thinking as well... That they'd clicked on "receive" and generated a request.

Also, given that they're using offline... It would not sync and would forever shows "pending".

As always with an offline+online two computer setup... Only the online computer is likely to reflect the "true" state of the wallet with correct balance and pending transactions etc... The offline one should basically only be used for signing transactions. It should not be used for creating transactions as there is the possibility that it will attempt to use missing inputs... Nor should it be used for generating "receive requests" as they'll never be reconciled due to the computer being offline.
