Title: 360 second thingy
Post by: crudpuppy on September 26, 2013, 05:02:51 PM
Does this ever go away?  Someone really needs to at least make it save a message when this happens I just lost a rather well thought out PM to it.  Now I wont write it again cause I'm lazy and don't have time...hehe

Yeah consider copying and pasting any decent sized post into notepad/etc until you are out of young member jail.  :)

I don't know or understand the algorithm (or whatever it is) that is in place, but it gets better over time, and eventually is gone completely.

Don't get so mad!

Being a newbie (or Jr.) demands some patience...

Just not use to it so have lost a few posts/messages that I typically don't feel like retyping

so does anyone know how the timelimit is decided I've seen forums with 30 second rules a lot to make bots not work efficient enough to bother with.  Bit 360seconds is 6 minutes which is just crazy long to have to wait I can read up on most threads and want to post in 1/2 that time and without a counter to know when I'm ok again I just keep screwing it up.

It goes away after you post more. I have to wait 32 seconds.

I dont believe it will go away completly, but it decreases from 360s to 60s to 45s and so on, based on your rank  :)

So do I, because your activity is 84 :)

Activity determines level I guess?  Activity is not a direct number of posts thing though so what really determines it?

Title: Re: 360 second thingy
Post by: emisi on September 27, 2013, 11:58:42 AM
The activity number is determined in this way:
time = number of two-week periods in which you've posted since your registration
activity = min(time * 14, posts)

Activity is updated every 30 minutes.

Yes... What's sad is that I had 84 activity 300 posts and 1 forum day ago... It should be like 100 or something....

If you press the back button, the text will be there... Just copy it, and then refresh the page and then submit it again in a few minutes...

wow I just did it again...lol.  anyway to retype and then wait a few minutes----
I also use IE and thus the back button doesn't show the typed text.  Guess I should start using this forum in chrome already do a lot of sites just cause they render better in there since they are not designed for IE.  Bitcoin sites seem to have this a lot.  Dern open source Linux nuts don't care if windows guys see their stuff or not...oh wait I prefer Linux just have to make a living that's right...hehe

Look man, be patient. It took me a few days to get out of newbies jail, a while more for the limits to drop, but eventually I did stick around and don't regret it. Excellent scene and community!

Not gonna lie, its a bit annoying. However I understand why it is so

It is annoying indeed. However a money oriented forum like this, is a spammers magnet. The initial limitations make it undesirable for bulk posters
