Title: Re: CoolIT Systems Selected by CoinTerra® to Partner for Liquid Cooling Solution Post by: cointerra on September 27, 2013, 04:35:47 AM Interesting it seems the chip will need the best cooling option possible. The chip will consume less than 300w, for a performance of 504 Gh/s. The fact that we have packed so much performance into a single chip dictates we find a great cooling solution as well. About 20% of our chips can run as high as 720 Gh/s at higher clock frequencies. We want to provide a cooling solution which can allow customers to take advantage of these super high hash rates. I met (at the time) the whole CoolIT staff at CES 2009 in Las Vegas. They were all very energetic and passionate about coming up with unique and functional cooling. Obviously their Boreas and related TEC stuff didn't sell well but they were basically the founders of the AIO units that have become so popular today.

CoolIT cooling solutions work and are proven. I Hope cointerra project works out. Is it MIT? or CalTech this week? :) Title: Re: CoolIT Systems Selected by CoinTerra® to Partner for Liquid Cooling Solution Post by: mmitech on September 27, 2013, 06:03:41 PM CoolIT are still pretty lowend/small fry though. So your saying the manufacturer that makes all of corsair's hydro coolers has little to no market share?Title: Re: CoolIT Systems Selected by CoinTerra® to Partner for Liquid Cooling Solution Post by: testerx on September 27, 2013, 07:36:44 PM Interesting it seems the chip will need the best cooling option possible. Decent water cooling is not rocket science. Title: Re: CoolIT Systems Selected by CoinTerra® to Partner for Liquid Cooling Solution Post by: MonsterZero on September 27, 2013, 08:12:26 PM I'd love to see the numbers behind going with a watercooling solution vs. air cooling. I've yet to see a setup gain enough performance from the difference to make up for the cost (both initial hardware/setup and ongoing).

actually it is years ahead of the "bloody" family sitting in the cave with nda :) Title: Re: CoolIT Systems Selected by CoinTerra® to Partner for Liquid Cooling Solution Post by: dogie on September 27, 2013, 08:33:48 PM finally we know that cointerra is not a scam actually it is years ahead of the "bloody" family sitting in the cave with nda :) This is the exact reason I pointed out that CoolIT aren't big players. Any scam could still roll up to them with a 5 figure contract and get the same response. 5 figure sacrifice in the greater scheme of a scam -> not much Title: Re: CoolIT Systems Selected by CoinTerra® to Partner for Liquid Cooling Solution Post by: bobsag3 on September 27, 2013, 09:16:34 PM finally we know that cointerra is not a scam actually it is years ahead of the "bloody" family sitting in the cave with nda :) This is the exact reason I pointed out that CoolIT aren't big players. Think as an example, how many units do you think cointerra would have signed up for in the first batch, 500? 5000 * $50 = $25k. Small small fry compared to potential preorder money. Title: Re: CoolIT Systems Selected by CoinTerra® to Partner for Liquid Cooling Solution Post by: CryptoTank on September 28, 2013, 11:42:31 AM If they did 500 or 5000, isn't that sizeable for the bitcoin space? What are they supposed to do, 1,000,000 units? Your point has yet to be made other than the fact that they may be placing a small order to begin with. Perhaps there is a point to them stating it's a longterm partnership...

You still have to use the same due diligence as before. |
