Trusted BITCOIN Escrow Service:

I am providing escrow services for a 1% gift (0.002 BTC minimum) and am opening this thread for feedback on my services.  Feel free to PM me (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=pm;sa=send;u=18321) to setup any escrow arrangements.  

I will also provide USDT escrow services in exchange for a gift of $50 (TRC20) or $100 (ERC20) + 1% of the total.  Additional 1% gift for >$10,000 escrows.

*I will escrow altcoins for double the gift amount.
**I will take delivery of goods and reship for a 0.005 BTC minimum gift.


RULES:
1. I will not escrow accounts, paypal, or gift cards.
2. I will not refund a Bitcoin address that is not the sending address without a signed message from the sending address or prior agreement.
3. I am not a bank.  Escrows are for a period of 30 days and an additional 1% gift (or BTC minimum if higher) will be required for each 30 day period thereafter.


The below address is the only address I will ever ask you to send BTC to.  If asked to send to a different address, you are dealing with a scammer.

Please also include the seller on the message.  I will reply all to confirm receipt of coins and the address they will be released to.  Once the buyer tells me the item has been received, I will release funds to the seller (typically within a few minutes/hours).

With all of the transactions I've done, I've never been asked even once by customers to use escrow ... until this week. A customer requested escrow and as an honest merchant, I respect that. I'm sure John K is busy, which explains why my PM from a couple days ago still remains unanswered.

It was a no-brainer to also ask OgNasty to hold escrow; he has replied instantly to every request and I have no doubt he will handle this transaction with the same amount of professionalism that I and others have come to receive from him in the past.

Will report back when transaction is complete in a few days and escrow is released.

Escrow works by placing money in the control of a trusted third party in order to protect both buyer and seller in a transaction. When both parties verify the transaction has been completed per terms set, the money is released.

No.  I don't see any benefit to providing escrow for this scenario except adding a false sense of trust.  If you're choosing the contest winners, then you could easily select friends or aliases as winners and that would undermine the escrow.  It sounds to me like you need someone to build you a trustless lottery system. 

First off, don't make accusations before knowing anything. It's the first time I'm using escrow and yeah I forgot about the fact that YOU need to choose the winners (else it wouldn't have any point). The contestants need to come up with a creative line on why they want to win, that's why I didn't think of it.

There is no reason to become emotional about it.  You asked if we could do business and I explained why I would not provide the service you are requesting.  I turn down quite a few escrow requests for similar reasons.  The only accusation I made was that you need someone to build you a trustless lottery system, which you should view as friendly advice instead of becoming defensive.  I still believe that to be true, as your escrow agent certainly isn't going to choose winners of your contest.

Ofcourse there are 'escrow agents' that are willing to take 1min of their time to pick a winner, maybe you do not. Besides, my contest is free and no registration is required. It's funny how high ranked members always thinks newer guys are scammers.

You are correct, I will never "pick" anything.  I'm not saying you're dishonest.  I'm saying you are trying to circumvent the trustless business environment by taking the shortcut of asking a trusted member to do the lifting for you.

I urge you to take a step back and instead of becoming defensive, respect that I am trying to help you.  I don't run lotteries for 3rd parties, I don't select winners, I don't make accusations.  I simply accept or decline business based on terms and offer my reasoning or advice to those who want to learn.  

I am actually protecting you here, which is why your responses are troubling.  The way you want to have your contest, there will be people who are unhappy they didn't win and when results can't be verified as truly random you will be attacked and accused of things.  You can learn from all of this and respect that I took the time to spell this all out for you, or you can continue to be defensive and hope that in some way helps your situation.

In any event, I wish you good luck and hope that someday I can provide an automated escrow system for trustless lotteries like you want to have so that I can stop denying these requests and making newbies angry with me.

How can we trust the site? I know its multisig address, is it 2 of 2 or 2 of 3, both would be good? But still even if it 2 of 3, what if you run away with 1 private key(not telling you will)? So in everything, you need to trust someone! I hope you understand what I meant! :)

Actually you don't have to trust anyone. Best case scenario is 2 of 3 Use your own keys as oppose to the site generated put a time limit on it so the btc is returned if 2 members defect with the keys. Still fuzzy on that part so I struck though it. The third party can be someone like Ognasty if a dispute arises. No trust needed... I must concede that some level of trust is necessary but but on a micro scale compared to the norm here and that’s why you would choose someone like Ognasty to be the 3rd party.

EDIT: All of this can be done using bitcoin-qt without the site at all. Some skills are needed to create and send the raw transactions but I tested it last night. I created a multisig using addresses from 3 different wallet.dat files.

Yes, it can be done. Gavin Andresen had given a good explanation on BT. Anyway, for users who are non-familiar with multisig(mostly newbies to Crypto), will find it a bit difficult, so for them it is better to use escrows like this! ::)

Just a tip. Thread jacking probably isn't the best way to inspire trust or promote your services. I realize you're upset GrapeApe after me refunding your escrow due to you displaying less than sensible behavior. Another heads up... This user just asked me to use their 3rd party site to generate a PGP key. I can think of no other reason but a scam to want to provide someone with their PGP key. I'm seeing an uptick in scam attempts targeting myself and users of my escrow services. Please be careful and always check trust history before dealing with anyone.

It is only a site that simplify the way  to have pgp key  , please don't  misunderstand   :) . Good luck with your service.

For anyone considering escrow, OgNasty is highly recommended. I've escrowed at least 7 separate transactions using his services and each and every time, he performs quickly and professionally. OgNasty is the only escrow with my implicit trust!

The below information is all I need from you, but I do need it all. :)

OgNasty handled my recent escrow transaction perfectly.  The funds had to be returned due to an issue the seller had but everything went smoothly.   :)

Safe trading everyone!  Just some tips...

Never accept paypal.  No matter how it is sent (gift, whatever), it can be reversed by the scammer several weeks later.

Never communicate trades off of this site.  Scammers are lazy and try to get you switched over to Skype to negotiate.

Always verify an address before sending.  Scammers pose as different users with altered names to get you to send BTC directly to them.  Always check the trust of someone giving you a payment address. 

Always use a trusted escrow.  Scammers will buy old accounts to leave fake trust and make fake stories of successful escrow trades for weeks while luring you into a sweet deal if you use their escrow agent of choice.  Make sure the trust ratings you are reviewing are left by trusted members.

The only one protection from this type of scam is collateral in MultiSig escrow (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=865167.msg10150985#msg10150985). It will encourage both sides to be honest, and if something happens with the parcel to conduct a thorough investigation and find consensus.

Who provides this type of escrow?

The more parties you involve in a transation, the more points of failure there are.  MultiSig escrow sounds nice, but for 99% of use cases it is not a better way of doing things.  There are plenty of threads discussing it though.  You don't need to crap on mine.  Thanks.  Also, multisig escrow provides absolutely no additional protection in the case mentioned above.  An arbitrator would be needed in either case.

Exactly, that's why the arbitrator is not needed, every human can make a mistake.


1) MultiSig can protect from arbitrator mistake - it is a very important point.
2) Actually, the additional protection in proposed MultiSig scheme is not required. Motivated to be honest participants is the best protection!

Probably why you should rely on a trusted escrow agent with years of experience over a newbie who has probably never signed a multi-sig transaction or an unproven 3rd party service.

A Friendly Reminder:  As the Bitcoin rate increases, so do the scam attempts.  If a deal sounds too good to be true, it probably is.  Always use escrow, and make sure any communication of where to send BTC is sent directly from your escrow agent.  Trade safely!

Over the last few weeks, scammers have tried every annoying trick in the book.  One of the annoyances has been sending me PMs in order to get a quote from me that they are using to send other members to try and scam.  This has been a waste of my time and is happening so frequently that I am to the point where I am no longer responding to stupid questions or users with negative feedback.

If you want to use my escrow service, read the OP and do it correctly.  I will no longer be responding to newbies with dumb questions or anyone with negative feedback unless I am bored and simply want to waste their time.  Also, I don't care what you're selling, but if you tell me it's gift cards, paypal, forum accounts, or altcoins, I will most likely tell you no.

I have plenty of longtime users I don't mind messaging back and forth with.  If you are one of those users, do not worry about this.  If you are a new user, read the OP. 

There is also a good chance I will be raising my minimum fee soon to try and combat scammers annoying me for small non-existent escrows.

Unless I overlooked it, you should add the notice about not escrowing account sales to the OP.

New scam going around using my name.  I've seen enough of these attempts now that it's time to make a statement.  Notice the fake quote from me below sent by hamsterfly that links to a 3rd party scam website.  This is becoming quite common.  Also, when clicking the fake quote from me, it takes you to a message by user themerkle.  There's 2 more scammers to avoid.

My minimum fee (0.01 BTC) would probably make me a bad escrow agent for such small sales.  You could probably find someone willing to cut you a better deal.  The first post of this thread has an example of what to do (send me funds + necessary info) but I think you would probably have more success with an escrow willing to provide free services.

most of the things i would be selling would actually be the systems they range from 20-150

games would range from 2 dollars + cause i do have some more expensive retro games so i dont think your rate min of .01 would be bad

Actually, I don't even want to be this hands on.  I think users should post their scam accusations as normally expected or on this thread.  If people want to spend time tagging these users, I will consider adding them to my trust list so their feedback carries more weight.

Well i've been tagging and reporting the scammers/impersonators i've come across, but my trust reports doesnt mean much. Its been more effective to post my reasoning and proof in scam thread and let people like Tomatocage neg them good. Thats been working pretty well.

Tagged as well. Pretty sure it's the same person doing this over and over again. People should be careful and also request for a signed pgp message. Entrusting your bitcoins to a quoted message is .. well, pretty dumb

Yet it happens so frequently...  Be smart.  Ignorant users are basically funding these MITM attacks by falling for them.  If this issue doesn't start improving I will have to begin thinking about ways to protect users from themselves.

Maybe you could launch an escrow site. Semi automated and easy to use even for the newbies.

Scammers would only redirect users to their own cloned scam site.  The best form of protection would be if users took 5 seconds to confirm the address is indeed mine, but I don't know how to educate so many newbies.

Scammers are getting desperate.  I'm seeing lots of new scam attempts. 

Be careful.  Make sure you only send BTC to the address in my signature.  Never use a quoted message to get my address.  Being extra safe, navigate to this thread (don't use a link from a 3rd party) and just grab the address from the OP if necessary.

Users need to start being better at spotting these scams.  It is falling for MITM scams that funds these scammers.  Be smarter.

Friendly tip.  If sending BTC into escrow, you should do it from an address that you control the private keys.  That way if there is an issue and you need the BTC refunded, it can be sent back to the sending address.

I am constantly amazed each morning when I awake to some story about how someone sent all their coins to an address that a brand new account with 0 trust or activity sent them because they said it was mine...

Pay attention people.  Do not follow links that other users send you.  Do not send funds to an address other users provide you.  It is your money and your responsibility not to give it away to strangers in the night.

Some scammer is going around with a fake PGP signature (see above) and getting people to think that means it comes from me.  If you don't know how to use PGP, then obviously I'm not going to sign a PGP message.  I only do this by request.  If you get a message from me and there's a PGP signature, it IS NOT FROM ME.

Its better if you import your PGP public key on Keybase.

How does escrow work with physical goods? Do you also also escrow the goods themselves, by having me mail them to you once you receive the BTC payment? And then you send me the BTC payment (minus your fee) once you've received the goods? I would send the goods to you with a tracking number and delivery confirmation, of course.

If I were to the send the goods to the buyer directly, it seems to me that would open up a lot of possibilities for complications, as they could claim the goods never came, etc.

When the seller asks me to. I'm not a judge or jury. I make no decisions. Any disputes are handled by the community. In ~4 years of providing escrow services, I have never once had to send the funds somewhere that wasn't agreed upon by both parties.

I must say if OGNasty qualifies for AA rated escrow - there is no way bitcoin will survive.

So I was contacted by some to buy a L3+ for a good rate ($1600) and I asked to use OGNasty as escrow. Seller stated this was not a problem - so I sent the BTC to OGNasty. Seller agreed to ship the next day.

I wake up at 4:30 am and have a message from OGNasty with some quoted text about how I want a refund but not to the original address but some new address and OGNasty obliged and sent my $1600 to some random BTC account (not mine!)

Now I am trying to communicate with OGNasty and he is very defensive. Refuses to contact me via telephone. Acts like this is not his problem. I'm not sure what his #2 rule is about requesting a refund but I never agreed or signed anything. As far as I was concerned he was holding funds until seller ships and I receive. He even refuses to send a screen shot of the conversation but will only provide some poorly HACKED up "quoted" text requesting a refund.

Now I'm out $1600 plus escrow fee and have an "escrow agent" who wants me to stop contacting him and refuses to offer any assistance. AWESOME!

Addressing the above extortion attempt...

I told the user not to send funds to escrow. I told him the deal was too good to be true and that he was dealing with a scammer.  He didn't listen and sent the funds anyway.  He then immediately wanted a refund and sent several messages asking me to refund an address. The other party was non-responsive and I'd sent several messages confirming the refund address and waited a few hours for communication and verified all communications were with 1 account. So I refunded the only account I had been in communication with. Immediately after he starts accusing me of stealing his funds and lying about the messages which wasn't a problem for hours until BTC was sent. He tries over and over again to get me to call him on the phone and when I refuse he starts saying he's going to sue me if I don't pay him $1600. He refuses to contact the site mods to see if another ip logged into his account and only wants me to pay $1600 for him doing the exact opposite of what I said to do and then trying to use that to extort me.

It is a shame that with every big increase in price comes a new wave of pathetic scammers. However, I'm not going to pay an extortion fee. Ever. Your time is better used elsewhere and you are responsible for securing your own bitcointalk account, not me.

It's funny because I woke up at 4am and found this convo about this refund and immediately contacted OGNasty who stated it's 2 am there and it's not his problem. At this time those messages were not in my outbox just quoted fromOgNasty. 2 hours later my account password and email is changed and of course he won't provide the screen shot.

Maybe a mod could take a look at the screen shot of the conversation? Also maybe take a look at the IPs that accessed my account because if OGNasty is telling the truth than this site has a major security flaw and someone is using it and OGNasty to take advantage of it.

Now that you were scammed you attack the one person who warned you repeatedly not to engage in the deal and not the seller who was sending you phishing links?  Why not post a scam accusation showing the phishing links you were sent?  Did you fall for them and give away your login info?  Why attack the escrow agent who told you not to do the deal?  Why did the scammer who took over your account only lock you out hours later after I refused the extortion attempts?

If someone were to send btc to an escrow who has a different understanding of the terms of the trade than the senders understanding, then the escrows understanding will prevail unless both parties consent to changes to the terms. From what I can tell, OgNasty complied with the terms of his understanding of the bet as of when the btc was sent.

TMAN obviously knew that OgNasty was a party to the trade/bet as of when he sent the btc, so he really cannot claim "self escrow" as he is.

This whole thing is about integrity a quality both you and OG do not have, therefore neither of you deserve the right to be an escrow!

I can't see going back to the end of April 2017 a transaction that corresponds to $ 1,600 both in and out.

There are some in the vicinity ie $ 1,530 but these are sent by Og first, not received by Og first.

Preev.com says tonight $ 1,600 USD is roughly BTC 0.5641 and given egdevilboy2 was only spawned a week ago, there aren't any transactions close to BTC 0.5641 either in or out in the last week via the wallet address Og uses.

The thing I like about using blockchain.info is that when you hover over the BitCoin value it shows you what the actual US dollar amount was at the time the TX occurred, not what the price of BTC is now.

You've chosen an interesting time to suddenly start pushing for multisig. Personally, I'd like to see more wallet support for it and widespread usage before I would want to go that route. Not to mention I try to keep my escrow process as simply as possible so that I can keep my donations low for end users. Since there's never been an issue, I think it's safest to stick with what has proven to be reliable.

Jumping to multisig before it's usage is commonplace can lead to unforeseen issues that I don't want to discover the hard way, like this theft that occurred earlier this week due to a flawed implementation:

One person other than myself knows the combination to a lockbox that contains a key to a hidden safe. A different person knows the location of the hidden safe. A third person knows the password to decrypt the private keys held in the hidden safe. In the event of my demise, they will work together to recover any funds I may be holding. When one of them dies, they will be replaced.

It should also be mentioned that these individuals are not all located in the same country.

That issue actually only affects one specific wallet in electrum, and is not possible with bitcoin because of differences between the bitcoin and etherum protocols.

There are also currently 2.14 million BTC, or ~13.02% of all bitcoin currently (https://p2sh.info/dashboard/db/p2sh-statistics?orgId=1) held in multisig addresses. Although a decent percentage of these coins are likely held by exchanges and others who very much know what they are doing.

The risk of using escrow multisig is that one party can potentially trick their trading partner into thinking that the multisig address is something other than what it should be. In order to calculate a multisig address, users must combine multiple public keys to calculate the multisig address, which is a procedure that I suspect many will be unable to perform. If a user is unable to perform this task, then they will need to rely upon someone else (potentially their trading partner) in order to know which address to send BTC to. A scammer could potentially tell his trading partner to send BTC to a multisig address in which he has sufficient private keys to spend any BTC sent to it.

I would suspect that anyone pushing for escrows to provide multisig escrow services likely has the intention of attempting to scam others if/when implemented.

Quite likely true, but if an Escrow (the contract, not the person) was long term ie a long term signature campaign lasting (perish the thought) months, it might be worth having two of three (or more numbers as agreed to before hand) to ensure the campaign is paid out if suddenly wound up.

Case in point the bitmixer campaign, there were a handful of posts Belly Aching ^TM that they didn't receive their last payment while the campaign was in the process of being wound up.

On the other hand, an Escrow (contract) for a short term, "my goods for their payment", would probably be too fiddly to set up?  Having never dabbled in multi-signature wallets, I'm not certain.

Is there a link to a post you can give me to explain exactly how this works OgNasty? I am in the process of trying to sell miners. I have gotten with a reliable source in China that I can get good very prices on miners (relative to the market), but I am new on here really, so I have no history to make people feel safe in doing transactions. I have two scenarios I'm trying to utilize. I should be able to sell a miner from on-hand stock, so I can send the miner when I need to. The other scenario is to sell the miner, when I get paid I can pay my supplier. I would then get the miner in about 6-7 business days, then USPS ship to the customer - so another 2-3 day. Not sure if the second scenario is workable with the escrow - as I'm not exactly sure how it works and not sure if there is a solution to the second method that would be worked out.

Please let me know. I would like to start trying to sell, but want to have my ducks in a row perse.

There were two scenarios. One, I will have the miner myself: So someone buys from me and I will have the miner in my possession to be able to send - same or next day. Would you not be able to escrow that deal?

If you don't want to escrow for sales where my supplier has to be paid first - that's understandable. But why not for when I have them on hand?

I am assuming that if I have a miner to sell, and someone wants to buy it, to protect me, you have my customer send BTC to you. Then I send the miner to the customer. When they verify they have it, you release the BTC to me? Or would I send the miner to you with extra money to pay for shipping to my customer and then have you to send the miner to them while also releasing the BTC to me? With you getting an escrow fee as well. This is what I am talking about - how does this work. I have not sold through an escrow before so not familiar with the logistics involved.

Well, yesterday it was Telegram that they were trying to scam by impersonating me until I pointed out who here has a grudge against me that frequently uses Telegram.  Now suddenly today it seems they switched to posing as me on Discord to try and scam.  I know who the users are that are doing this, but without more concrete evidence I don't want to point fingers publicly.  Although it shouldn't be too hard to figure out.

I've been in communication with Telegram and have recommended they file a police report in an attempt to track down the user in question.  I've been helping with all the evidence I have and hope they will be caught eventually.  I'll reach out to Discord later today and see if I can get them to take a similar approach.  Thanks for the information.

Please follow the very simple instructions if you're going to use my escrow service.  If I ignored your message it is likely you didn't provide enough information for an escrow agreement.

Copy the other trading partner on the message.

Include the BTC release/refund addresses for the trade.

Include the amount of BTC that will/has been sent.

I don't care about US dollar amounts and will ignore them.  If no release address is provided I will assume you haven't reached an agreement with the seller and will ignore the message.  If the other party in the trade isn't copied, I'll assume you aren't serious and will ignore the message.

I get too many vague messages with no information in them and I will be ignoring them going forward.  This process is setup to be dead simple for a reason.

Once BTC was sent to escrow (a few days ago) this seller became unresponsive.  I have tried PM'ing them with no luck, and have left negative trust along with the potential buyer.  The user (link: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=2437876) is now not signing in.  As a result I will be refunding the buyer in a short period of time.  I wanted to make this public, as this is happening way too frequently lately and people should be aware.

Be careful with scammers.  They're out there trying to pull scams any way they can.

You're welcome.  It is easier for me to refuse all account sales, rather than research each one individually to see if it fits my description of fraud.  I'd advise users to create their own accounts to use services.

No, but people should be aware of the minimum gift amount for the service. There are cheaper escrow agents that likely have a sufficient reputation to safely handle small escrow amounts.

It's a Scam Website. I used this website for buying some football tips, They claimed it to be 100% win or they would refund. Escrow seemed a good option but I was a noob myself and fell in his trap and open transaction with safepaybtc.net and realized I was scammed.

Please make sure to finalize your deal with the seller before sending funds to escrow to avoid wasting your time and money.

Terms would be whatever you set with the seller. The buyer would ultimately have to release funds, or the seller would have to agree to a refund.

I think I read somewhere about there being multi-sig wallets used for holding forum related money (adverts/donations etc) which required two of three people (theymos, OgNasty and another user I cannot recall) to withdraw funds which was supposed to provide a back up mechanism in case one of three became incapacitated for one reason or another

Yes $4 million is a large sum of money and if what you say happened then it definitely is highly commendable.

Yes, It is currently,  held by 3 of 5 multi-sig (Theymos, OgNasty, DarkStar_, minerjones and another user I can't recall as well) but prior to the multi-sig which happened about a year ago, Og held the said funds since 2013 IIRCC.

Thank you.  Surprisingly, there have been very few issues ever with my escrow service.  Some users have tried to use my service to scam, TMAN comes to mind as someone who has repeated back to me things I've said only to wannabe escrow scammers, but I leave the deal up to those involved to resolve their own issues.  The worst deal ever was probably a buyer who claimed that a great deal of hardware was faulty, but the seller refused to entertain the idea and told him to finish the deal or send back the hardware.  Eventually the buyer released escrow instead of returning the claimed "faulty" equipment and everyone was happy.

I've handled a couple of six figure escrows, and many five figure escrows.  The only fun one that comes to mind was the CryptoKitties domain name.

I never considered my position as treasurer of this forum to be an escrow, but it is true that I was the sole holder of the private key holding ten million dollars worth of forum funds at one point in time.

It makes interesting reading about how various trades went and the experiences attached to them. With you completing so many escrows there were always going to be some ups and downs like that "faulty hardware" one...

These are amazing statistics with regards to the 5 and 6 digit escrows and of course the $10 million of forum funds you held at one time so that alone should eliminate any doubt anybody might have. Your trust is also something solid, I cannot recall ever seeing +97 trust before so it stands to reason if I need an escrow I know who to get in touch with.

I have occupied enough space on your service thread so will refrain from posting further unless necessary but once again, congratulations on the upkeep of your escrow service successfully for so many years.

I’m asked to handle low value escrows quite often and I usually try to steer users toward cheaper services in those scenarios. While I won’t deny my escrow service is the most proven as being trustworthy on this forum for many reasons, users should consider if it is necessary to select it for some lower value trades.

I have also just updated this rule to add, "(or BTC minimum if higher)" but it should be noted that I am not as strict as you might believe with these rules.  They are mostly there to protect me against overly long holding times or infinite liability with someone else's funds if they are never claimed.

Responding publicly now because these are PM requests I get a lot and typically ignore.  There are certainly cheaper escrow agents available.  Given my fees, I think users with trades under $500 would be better served by less established and trusted escrow services.  You probably don't need to pay for an escrow agent that has proven trustworthy with safeguarding 8 figure sums if you're buying a low value gift card.

Just a reminder...  If you value your coins, do not do things like trading for paypal, buying gift cards, buying user accounts for services, buying prepaid credit cards, or trying to buy anything that seems too good to be true.  Escrow cannot stop chargebacks, defunding of cards, or account terminations once the coins are released.

If you ever need an escrow OgNasty is your guy! The most proven track record on this forum and probably the only one you could trust with high amounts of coin. And I'll echo the statement above this - Stay safe and don't take unnecessary risks!

I think a lot of people probably don’t understand what it’s like to be in a perceived position of power on this forum. Please do not ask me to escrow things that can be charged or taken back.   For example, gift cards, paypal, user accounts, vbucks, or pretty much anything similar.  I don't escrow these items for your protection, not mine.  If something can be taken away once escrow is released, then escrow provides little real protection.  I hope that clears up some confusion about why I do not escrow certain items.

I haven’t offered this service before because I didn’t want to, but with the extreme value of Casascius and other commonly sold goods it became necessary. I’ve also been getting a few escrow requests for ETH now that BTC tx fees have gotten so high. I’ve been offering users 0.05 ETH escrow fees as a result.

If you're going to panic dump your Bitcoin for goods, make sure you use escrow so that you don't end up losing everything!  Scammers are out and about trying all the old tricks right now.  Be careful, be safe, be honest. 

The Bitcoin mempool is regularly filling up and requiring some pretty extreme fees along with a few other chains.  I've been handling escrows in all sorts of alternative cryptocurrencies as a result.  Even some stablecoins!  Be safe!

Seeing a lot of altcoin escrows these days.  USDT seems to be a somewhat popular trading vehicle recently.  A reminder that I'm usually open to escrow any type of cryptocurrency, not just Bitcoin.  With the high volatility, fees and slow confirmation times Bitcoin has been experiencing lately, using an altcoin like USDT for escrows makes a lot of sense and has seemed to emerge as a popular way to trade.  A lot of times people are sending from exchanges as well, which nearly eliminates fees in some cases.  Stay safe, but trade smart too!
