An 11-year old named Andrew Courey from Massachusetts just published a book on bitcoin so the younger generation can grasp this emerging technology that's been sweeping the globe. The sixth-grader considers himself an expert on bitcoin, and his 57-page book describes cryptocurrencies in a way his peers can understand.

A 57-Page Book About Mastering Bitcoin Written By a Sixth Grader

Andrew Courey is a middle school student from Massachusetts, and he hopes to earn $20Mn by the age of fourteen. Courey made an agreement with his parents who said if he earned $20Mn by then, he could drop out of school much like the bitcoin millionaire Erik Finman's deal with his parents (https://news.bitcoin.com/18-year-old-erik-finman-bitcoin-millionaire/). So after countless hours of research and Youtube videos covering the subject of bitcoin Courey decided to write a book on the topic. The book called "Early Bird Gets The Bitcoin: The Ultimate Guide To Everything About Bitcoin (https://www.amazon.com/Early-Bird-Gets-Bitcoin-Everything-ebook/dp/B079DJ778D)," is available on Amazon in both e-book form or as a paper copy.

The introduction states:

Today we will be learning about an online currency created by Satoshi Nakamoto, and by the end, you will become a master of bitcoin.

Courey's dad is a tech investor and prompted Andrew to put his studies to good use by publishing a book about bitcoin in a more simplified manner.

"Anyone can learn about cryptocurrencies if they're willing to spend 70 to 80 hours researching every source until they find a couple sources that make sense," Andrew explains in a recent interview (https://www.cnbc.com/2018/02/25/11-year-old-andrew-courey-wrote-a-book-on-bitcoin.html) with CNBC. "The whole book, in the simplest terms, is very easy to read and simple to understand."

This is very cool and all, but I really don't think many people who actually know about cryptocurrency will ever buy this book. It seems way too simple, and is probably geared more at the general public who don't know anything about blockchain and bitcoin. Here's a quote from the article that made my opinion:

"Courey explains that a blockchain is similar to a public Google document that’s 'shared with everyone and that can only be edited by buying or selling bitcoin.'"

More power to him for being 11 years old and writing a book -- that's an amazing accomplishment. However, for most people on these forums, I think they're better off just reading through any boards here or asking questions they may have here as well. They'll get the same, if not better, information to work with.

Good thing for that kid and maybe some ICOs will hire him to make an article or whitepaper about the said ICO. Having a knowledge about bitcoin in young age is a good thing because me as a sixth grader doesn't know anything about bitcoin nor how to earn fiat money and just enjoying things in my age.

True though this is still publicity. Kids might actually look it up since it they'd see that it was by someone their age. I suppose the writing-style is also appropriate for that age group. We should think of bitcoin in the long run. A lot of the older people today might never get into it. Kids though, if even a fraction of them do, it might have a greater chance of becoming more widespread, not just for trading we are doing now but as currency they'd demand be supported by establishments.

This is definitely true in my eyes -- I think this is catered for the younger population, but I also think that if I were to teach kids about investing in general, I would not talk about bitcoin and cryptocurrency first. I think that after a while, if they're investing in volatile currencies, they could be driven by a "I want to get rich quick" motive which is very hard to break away from and could have strong negative impacts with just a few wrong investments. Instead, I would start off with the stock markets and just basic understandings.

I would, however, definitely find this a good book if it solely talked about the technology behind Bitcoin.

Kids want money. Kids may not understand how Bitcoin can be money for them. Will Bitcoin ever be taught in detail in school? Kids who read this book, can understand the new blockchain money, thereby preparing themselves, better, for the future. Since kids are our future, why have them focus on the banks and fiat? Get them into Bitcoin and altcoins so that they are well aware of the simple means to keep the fiat Ponzi out of their lives. Then, as they grow up, they will bring down the banking Ponzi by not participating, all because of what they learned in this book.

Look at how long it is taking to introduce Bitcoin to adults. You can still walk around and find many people who never heard of Bitcoin. And few people (percentage-wise) understand it. Kids who read the book are way ahead, both for themselves, and for being able to explain it to other kids.

The world is finally going to grow up with Bitcoin, and part of the reason is this book.

I do agree with you! This book can really make a difference when it comes to bitcoin knowledge specially to kids and newbies. This book can create a great impact in the future of bitcoin and other cryptos.

Few years from now we will be seeing lots of younger millionaires cos of cryptocurrency and this will be the death of FIAT and banks!

Decentralization at its finest!

This is a proof that age doesn't matter in cryptocurrency. As far as you know the nature of the cryptocurrency, you can go along the people who are more elder you.
I think someday, the author of the book will be more veteran in playing cryptocurrency. As what I saw on the title of his book: early bird gets the bitcoin, as a teen ager we must not waste our time in games and leisure. We must think of our future! I am also one of the youth who is studying while working in cryptocurrency.
Youth are future stakeholders of the society and we should be able to move towards the improvement and changes of our society. I believe that early birds are better than intelligent people.

I just want to purchase this book and give this to people who always have questions about bitcoin. I, myself want to read it because I can't really relate to the technical terms regarding bitcoin and blockchain. As much as possible, I want to understand it in the simplest way and I think this could be the simplified way of explaining it to others who cannot understand the process. It is really hard to explain to someone about blockchain if you don't totally understand the process yourself.

somebody should seriously send the link to this book or if possible a hard copy of it to people like Warren Buffett so that they can read simple words and understand how bitcoin works. something like an ELI5 for the 87 year old Warren since apparently he can not understand the adult version of it. ;D

Great achievement for a middle schooler, but as the title says all "Early bird gets the bitcoin" and as we know that buying bitcoin today doesn't seem like "early" sound and instead of gaining $20M achievement from investing in Bitcoin first, he shifted to publishing a book and hope to achieve capital from that first and that is a great start. Who knows what will he do with investing that capital into ICOs or bitcoin. Rather than mining the gold by himself, he started to sell manual of how to mine a gold. And i think it was a clever decision and to help elderly to know more about bitcoin.  ;D ;D

Well you do have a point about ensuring they don't develop a get-rich-quick mentality. I think the book would be more useful if it really focus on the tech side of bitcoin. Younger people are generally more receptive to new tech. I mean, I see them using apps to pay for stuff so I think they'll easily warm up to the concept of bitcoin as a digital currency.

The idea of a simple kid should be meaningful to others, I'm not sure yet what inside that book because I don't have the copy yet, but for a simple facts that it is just a Sixth Grader who's showing interest with this system, for sure it will bring or create impact to public and if we do share it and explain it
well to much more younger generations, then they will able to secure their future after learning the benefits and all the fundamentals regarding to this
new currency system that we are enjoying right right now.

The selling word there would be "The Early Bird Gets the Bitcoin". It attracts not only his perks but mostly people who are obsessed in getting rich in a small amount of time. Despite the fact that it was written by a kid, it's easy for people who actually don't give a time to read about certain kind of knowledge like Blockchain technology. This is one of the way for them to understand, this kid made an opening for them (in simple words). Hope this will drag people that are currently questioning that "what the hell is this technology that driving humanity crazy day and night"?

This is kid is just seriously an expert in his own right. Imagine to have published at such a young age of the  very recent hype in the online world.
I salute my hats to this kid.
On another note, his achievement is great and all not argue on that, but this guide he wrote may be applicable to those that have very limited idea on the blockchain technology. In addition, people can just join this community "bitcointalk.org" and ask questions and get answers with equal learning in the book, if not better.
But then again, it is a great achievement and will usher in more supporters for the cryptocurrency community thru education

This kid will be a successful person in the future. He engaged himself in bitcoin and other kinds of crypto currencies in just a young age. That is very impressive to know that a grade six student has already knew a lot about crypto currencies. I hope more kids can have knowledge about bitcoin as early as they can.

I am also like him but I am just 8 years older than him. Supposedly, at 11 years of age, most of the children prefers to play with their peers and they don't care about the issue that happens to their sociaty. But look what this little boy showed to us, bitcoin is ageless! Whatever who you are, as long as you have the enthusiasm to know about something, you will pursue to achieve it.
