Title: [ANN] COINJANITOR Do Dead Coins Go to Heaven? Or Do They Go To The Janitor?
Post by: CoinJanitor on February 27, 2018, 07:00:00 PM

BASIC PROJECT INFORMATION

- CoinJanitor is a community-driven project that aims to unlock value trapped in failed coins.

- With more than 4,500 cryptocurrencies in circulation, and only about 1,500 available on major exchanges, there are thousands of coins that are holding value up in a way that cannot be transferred into the markets.

- Many of these projects have failed to achieve their goals or have failed to achieve the network effect they needed to thrive. CoinJanitor will offer users, creators and community members who have trapped value in those projects, a way to transfer their value out of those blockchains.

ICO START DATE: 1 May 2018 - 31 May 2018.

OVERVIEW

When a coin is launched, its creators and community work diligently to make it succeed. They seek to differentiate their coin to find a niche in the market, gather the greatest network they can behind them and implement the concept that makes them unique. Nevertheless, creators and communities fail to achieve their goal often. After trying for a period of time, those coins fail to get traction and their users, communities and creators are left holding coins that can't be used to purchase goods or services, and in many cases, coins that they simply cannot transact with at all because their blockchains have been abandoned.

Despite the failure of the coin, the code behind it, all the data that is related to it, its marketing assets, and more importantly, its community, still hold value. Until now, we have relegated that value to oblivion, discarding those coins, labeling them dead because they cannot be traded and their prices are negligible. But what if we could find a way to rescue the value in them and put all those communities together under a single coin? Maybe then we would be able to achieve the network effect that each of those coins failed to achieve individually, allowing the markets to enjoy the value behind their assets. That is what CoinJanitor aims to do through the amalgamation of these communities and the use of their assets. Here is how we will achieve our goal:

https://s1.gifyu.com/images/Roadmap.png

Trapped Value?

We speak about trapped value in failed coins because people have invested time, money, computing power and other resources in these projects. That investment did not achieve the desired goals, but it still created a community that was united in its pursuit of a specific goal. Failure to achieve that goal does not eliminate the value in the project, although it diminishes it. When a project’s value is diminished beyond a certain point, the invisible hand of the market relegates the whole project to oblivion. As demand for those currencies drops, so does their price and the ability of their users to exchange them for more valuable coins at any exchange rate. This process effectively pushes both users and value out of the markets, trapping the value they have created in such a way that it cannot be transferred back into the markets.

How can CoinJanitor unlock and transfer that value back into the markets?

CoinJanitor will unlock that trapped value using economic forces and its primary tool: the CoinJanitor token. We will proceed to do that through 5 main steps:

1.) Mapping cryptocurrency markets to see where those failed coins are. We have come up with our own definition of what a failed coin looks like, taking various parameters into consideration. We define failed coins as follows: PoW coins – mainly – that were launched more than 2 years ago, are not traded on exchanges and have a market cap smaller than $50,000 USD.

2.) CoinJanitor will reach out to those coins that according to our mapping efforts, can be defined as failed coins. We will communicate with the creators and the communities of these projects to set up a buy-out program and have the creators turn over access to GutHub and other code repositories. The buy out program will have a deadline and will be done using the CoinJanitor token exclusively. This will prevent the emergence of pump and dump schemes, and other types of speculation. Using the CoinJanitor token will prevent the project from becoming a de-facto exchange service for coins that are otherwise not exchangeable.

3.) After the buy out program is implemented, CoinJanitor will proceed to eliminate – burn – all the coins it bought.

4.)
The next stage involves decommissioning blockchains belonging to the projects that had value trapped in them.

5.) CoinJanitor’s final stage in this process is to organize and release all the relevant code, GitHub repositories, data and other relevant pieces of information about these projects, to the public. Every piece of code will be turned into open source code, available for the community to build upon and use on other projects. Data will be organized and distilled into decision-making tools that will help community members in the future.

CoinJanitor is a multi-stage project that will start with the transfer of value that is trapped in failed coins as its first stage. Our team will subsequently develop and deploy more tools based on the data we will process during our work to restore this trapped value to the markets.

What are the benefits of the CoinJanitor project?

This project will benefit CoinJanitor community members, cryptocurrency markets, users of failed coins and CoinJanitor creators in different ways:
•CoinJanitor community members will benefit from being part of a growing economy that amalgamates communities to achieve the network effect they couldn’t achieve on their own.
•Cryptocurrency markets will benefit from a reduction in market dilution and the possibility of having previously trapped value moving back in.
•Users of failed coins will have a way to transfer the value they had locked in a failed project and will join a project that will integrate them.
•CoinJanitor creators will benefit from creating an unprecedented project in the cryptocurrency space that will create value through amalgamating the communities of failed coins under a single umbrella.

The CoinJanitor ICO begins on May 1 2018.

I am part of the team of this project.
It is an idea that has never been tried before and I encourage people to watch the video and ask questions on telegram https://t.me/CoinJanitor (https://t.me/CoinJanitor)
The aim here is to make ALL crypto better and more valuable not just CoinJanitor.
All comments and feedback are appreciated.

Thanks for pointing that out.
BARR project was different as I understand it as it focused on coins that were listed whereas we are specifically targeting delisted coins.
Point taken though I will be more careful about messaging.
What do you think about the idea of targeting delisted coins?
And are you aware of any projects that tried.
I have seen people try and list them but I am not aware of any one trying to absorb them.
Thanks

No worries, that project was a long time ago, and doesn't come up if you search things like "dead coin swap". I had randomly seen the old ANN months ago, and it came to mind when I saw your project. And you're right, their project wasn't necessarily geared towards dead coins, but more reduction of supply on certain coins.

I think this is really interesting, although I am curious how you plan on sustaining the value of your token. My assumption would be that all those people that want to swap their old coins would be most interested in immediately dumping your token for a coin like BTC, which would crash the price every time you did a swap. I would think you'd need to incentivize holding your token somehow.

I'm also interested in more details on the selection process for coins you swap. You talk about getting permission from devs or communities, but dead coins typically are dead because the dev left or the community fizzled out (or both). What do you do if you can't get in touch with the dev, and there is no clear community leader because the community is either too small or nonexistent?

Take Cagecoin for example - there are no devs and it is not listed on any exchanges, but there are a handful of community members and I really doubt they'd agree to hand over the coin to you. So even though it is dead, I assume you'd have to pass on swapping it.

Then there is Gopnik coin, which has a dev but no exchanges and no roadmap, and the community has given up on that project going anywhere despite the developer giving excuses and promising that things will happen eventually. I assume you'd have to pass on this one too.

So really, I'm not sure what coins you could successfully swap.

Thanks for the questions.
You've raised some great ones and there are a whole lot more.
As long as a project owner is contactable the rest is doable.
In cases where they are not there is no much to do for the moment.
All swaps will be done manually at this stage so it's literally one person to person.
In terms of dumping.
The entire market cap of these coins is less than 50k. We will not manage to swap all in the first go so entire available pressure for selling assuming all users dump will be quite a bit less than 50k.
One coin at a time I don't think this is a material amount of sell pressure for our token especially when compared with the extra media and social coverage we should get per swap.
I'm going to start doing some interviews and AMAs soon to address some of these questions.
If anyone wants to have a discussion on their platform let me know.
In the meantime have a look at our white paper where some of these questions are answered.
And you can join our telegram and obviously keep speaking here.
I love these discussions and am sure we will get great points raised by the community here.

Your bounty program should be moved to the bounty board as bounties has their own board. And while you're at it, delete the "ANN" word from its title as it's a little bit misleading, this is the ann, not that one.

Also, if you don't mind and if you're really serious with your project, can you please, please, please, do something with your ann, it's overpopulated with words that I lost interest in the middle of my attempt to read them all. Twice.

Bitcoin Garden: Did You know There Are More Than 4,500 Cryptocurrencies Already?
https://bitcoingarden.org/did-you-know-there-are-more-than-4500-cryptocurrencies-already/

Just a little over 9 years ago, the first Bitcoin was mined. The world was busy with one of the most gruesome economic meltdowns in history, so it took us years to discover the invention that turned into the frenzy of the century. Now, almost 10 years after Satoshi Nakamoto published his white paper, the asset that just a few people in a closely-knit mailing list knew about, spawned an explosion of digital assets that no one would have been able to foresee. With ICOs adding more crypto assets to the market on a daily basis, it is hard to keep an updated count of how many are out there. There are more than 4,500 coins and tokens in circulation, challenging what we thought we knew about cryptocurrency markets.

Anyone would think that the 1,500 or so coins listed on coinmarketcap.com make up the market, but this is not accurate. Many more coins are hiding somewhere in a dark corner of the web, waiting to be dusted, and that is just the tip of the iceberg. The dearth of information about cryptocurrencies is greater than we thought. In fact, for every well-known cryptocurrency, there might be hundreds of unknown ones, which forces us to think about other information that we might be missing....

How's the progress of this project?
I'm interested as I have lots of tokens and altcoins sitting on my wallet without a value now.
I missed the right time of selling it and now just sitting there.
Someone attempted this kind of project but they didn't attain success.
And what's your criteria on your coin selection - coins to revive?

The progress is extremely positive - thanks for asking!

Criteria:
The market cap of the coin should be under $50,000 USD
2. The coin should be a PoW coin.
3. It must NOT be listed on any exchange.
4. It should be at least 2 years old. There is a chance we will target coins that are
newer than that, but we will start with those that are 2 years old or older.
5. The owners should be contactable.
6. Most importantly, the owner and community must be willing to cooperate
with CoinJanitor.

So I think, very few fall on your criteria as most of the owners are not contactable.
Especially, if they dump already their premine or their coins.
So the eth tokens are not your scope of work.
I thought I have the possibility of at least disposing a quarter of them. :P
Anyway, let's hope that your services will push thru.

You can read more about this here: https://www.coinjanitor.io/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/CoinJanitor-White-Paper-v5.1.pdf

We have already been in contact with many owners and the discussions are positive.
Why would you not have the possibility of disposing your tokens?
We are working hard and we are not going to stop until we have succeeded.

You should create a spreadsheet for easier management of the bounty. It will avoid confusion later when someone says they have sent mail but do not receive their reward.

Wouldn't it be quite late and possibly raising some chaos if you share the spreadsheet and let your participants to review their work only in matter of days before the ICO end? One of the point of spreadsheet is to let the hunters know about their progress and to let them check if they got everything right. Hence, it'll be better to let them be able to check and track whenever they want.

We do not need to rush, ICO has not yet started and investment opportunities are still many. I will pay more attention and decision during ICO. Have you participated in public sale?

Why do not you use stake to calculate bounty for all participants? It does not take too much time to summarize and take advantage of all the bounty coin.

With regards to your question, we calculated that we would allocate 5% of the total tokens created to the bounty program. When you talk about stake, do you mean out of the whole token allocation? Are you referring to allocation according to bounty tasks? Do you mean stake as a reward based on the engagement each bounty hunter produces? Please clarify and we will be more than happy to answer your question fully.

Quite an interesting and revolutionary concept for the project Coinjanitor give a second life to coins that could not achieve success in the market and development in them were abandoned. I wondering how these coins having a different blockchain can be assembled on one platform and run in it?

Thank you.

CoinJanitor is seeking to bring the users of dead coins under its own umbrella, through a buy out. The technical process we will follow is to exchange JAN tokens for dead coins and then burn the dead coins that we receive, knowing that the people who sent us their dead coins will automatically be a part of the CoinJanitor community. What we will rescue from those dead coins is their marketing assets, their code and their data.

We will create value through the amalgamation of dead coin communities under the CoinJanitor umbrella. Network effect benefits.
They will hold the resource in the space that serves to get those dead coin users into the market again. There is demand for a scarce resource.
They believe in the tools we will be able to develop once we get our hands on all the code from those dead coins and all the data from within those blockchains that has never been analyzed.

Bitcoin Garden: The Economy Always Needs A Janitor
https://bitcoingarden.org/the-economy-always-needs-a-janitor/

Step into any office building, school, government office or even residential buildings, and you will find a janitor. The janitor takes care of all the small things the building needs to run, keeping it clean and tidy. Most of us never notice the janitor; unless we have an issue, we don’t interact with them. Nevertheless, once a pipe bursts, a window cracks or there is a huge spill on the hallway we call the only person we know who can take care of the mess. The janitor contributes to our efficiency even if we don’t notice. Cryptocurrency markets are a lot like these buildings, but they do not have a resident janitor that can help them, until now. CoinJanitor is the project that will take care of all the pipe bursts, cracked windows and hallway spills in cryptocurrency markets.

So, what is the role of CoinJanitor in cryptocurrency markets, why is it relevant and how does it work? Let’s answer those questions in a succinct manner, one by one....

ICO Analysis: CoinJanitor
Published on April 21, 2018
By noahsayres

Verdict
In the eyes of this analyst, CoinJanitor looks like a fascinating and incredibly useful project. They have a detailed multi-year operational plan that considers the use of all resources in great detail within their white paper, with logical explanations for everything they want to spend money on.
When combined with the extremely friendly ICO price relative to the total token supply, the basic deflationary economics of the project, and fact that they are the only project attempting something like this gives me great confidence that this could be highly successful going forward.
Risks
Unprecedented project goals. This makes it harder to define what long-term success would look truly look like.
With no existing similar projects to compare to it, CoinJanitor has both the blessing and the curse of having a first mover advantage. -2.5
The project could suffer from malicious opportunists who could attempt pump and dump or mining attacks on the coins that CoinJanitor attempts to recycle. -3
Growth Potential
Incredibly low token supply means it will not take a lot of capital inflows to pump up the price +3
The coin is deflationary with a small and finite supply. Paradoxically, the more dead projects CoinJanitor absorbs, the more valuable their native token will become. +4.5
Highly qualified and experienced team +3.5
Disposition
We are left with a score of 6.5 out of 10 for CoinJanitor. This analyst believes this to be a potentially fantastic investment, especially as a long-term play.

Blockchain is the new buzz word. Everyone seems to want one these days, but most of the blockchain projects out there fail. When these projects fail, what happens with them? How about all the people who put money, effort, commuting power or other resources into them? A new project called CoinJanitor is the first to look at these issues and offer a user-friendly solution that will recycle the value trapped in these failed blockchain projects. CoinJanitor refers to these failed projects as dead coins, and it has a clever system to deal with them.

CoinJanitor is a unique project in the blockchain space that aims to clean up the bottom of the cryptocurrency market and unlock the value currently trapped there. It uses a methodology built on economic principles to restore lost value to the markets, benefitting contributors, top-ranked cryptocurrency holders, creators of dead coins and dead coin holders – those coins which have low market caps, low or zero hash rate, and aren’t tradeable.

When an industry starts growing, it inevitably brings with it new jargon. By now, some of that jargon has already made it to the mainstream — HODL is a good example. There are some concepts that have made their way into our lexicon as jargon but are misunderstood. With ICOs quickly populating the space, the concept of Tokenomics became one of those buzz words that everyone uses when they look at an ICO but not everyone understands. Using this word can make people sound incredibly knowledgeable, adding to its appeal. Therefore, it is time to break it down and explain the concept behind the word.

“Integrating dead coin holders to CoinJanitor through these buy outs will create a powerful network effect by amalgamating thousands of people under the CoinJanitor umbrella. These buy outs also allow CoinJanitor to acquire other assets that belong to dead coins, like their marketing assets, and they will put the CoinJanitor in a privileged position to analyze dead coin code and blockchain data to produce new tools with it..”

"This innovative idea is the brain child of early cryptocurrency adopters, led by Marc Kenigsberg who has been a Bitcoin advocate from 2012. The idea is to use economic powers to achieve the project’s goals.  Marc came up with the idea for CoinJanitor after a discussion about failed blockchain projects, in which he saw that despite the discussions about dead coins, there are no real solutions out there to clean them up, offer their users a way out and use the assets that they have. No one really knows what happens when a blockchain project dies or how it failed. "

How does CoinJanitor Work?

So, what is the role of CoinJanitor in cryptocurrency markets, why is it relevant and how does it work? Let’s answer those questions in a succinct manner, one by one:

CoinJanitor’s role is to take care of failed or dead coins, cleaning them up in a manner that restores their value into wider cryptocurrency markets.

CoinJanitor is as relevant to cryptocurrency markets as a janitor is relevant to a building because by restoring value locked in failed or dead coins it will reduce market dilution, which favors top ranked cryptocurrencies.

CoinJanitor works by selecting specific coins that have failed or are functionally dead; contacting creators and community members; buying their coins out with the CoinJanitor token allowing them to transfer their value into the markets; burning the coins it bought from these community members and manually decommissioning the blockchains of those dead or failed coins afterwards.

Now this is the main concern of this crypto world and crypto space there are lot of crypto junkies hanging on the web where the coins or tokens lost their value due to failed project or lack of community support. So how does the buy out takes place or the Coinjanitor has its own blockchain for inter swapping the dead coins to janitor coins ? or how to make the dead coin alive again ?

It is actually explained on the OP, but allow me to quote it for you

Quote

4.) The next stage involves decommissioning blockchains belonging to the projects that had value trapped in them.

What CoinJanitor Hopes To Achieve
More than 4,500 cryptocurrencies are in circulation today. However, most of them are dead coins. The dead coins pose a challenge to the cryptocurrency market, as the market has to deal with value dilution while the owners of the coins have the value of the coins trapped in digital currencies that are not accepted in the market. Additionally, most cryptocurrency wealth is concentrated on coins with a market cap of $1 billion and above, and yet thousands of users have coins with a market cap of $50,000 or lower. The CoinJanitor platform hopes to welcome and recycle all these coins via the use of the CoinJanitor token. The steps below will be followed to achieve this goal:

Step into any office building, school, government office or even residential buildings, and you will find a janitor. The janitor takes care of all the small things the building needs to run, keeping it clean and tidy. Most of us never notice the janitor; unless we have an issue, we don’t interact with them.

Nevertheless, once a pipe bursts, a window cracks or there is a huge spill on the hallway we call the only person we know who can take care of the mess. The janitor contributes to our efficiency even if we don’t notice. Cryptocurrency markets are a lot like these buildings, but they do not have a resident janitor that can help them, until now.

The CoinJanitor project is envisioned as a platform, which will offer a recycling solution to crypto coins that have lost their relevance in today’s market. It will be achieved by unlocking the value that is locked up in dead coins. This platform also wants to reduce dilution in the crypto markets by amalgamating communities of dead coins into the CoinJanitor Community.

Bitcoin Garden: Why CoinJanitor Is Launching and How to Invest in JAN
https://bitcoingarden.org/why-coinjanitor-is-launching-and-how-to-invest-in-jan/

Just like traditional startups, most blockchain startups fail. However, without bankruptcy laws and other regulations in place, there is a lot value left trapped in inactive blockchains and untradeable cryptocurrencies at the bottom of the market.

CoinJanitor aims to recycle that trapped value from failed projects back into active cryptocurrencies through a buy-out process that uses JAN tokens.

Buying out dead coins and decommissioning their blockchains is intended to benefit the cryptocurrency ecosystem as a whole, but CoinJanitor’s value will be best realized by JAN contributors. As the CoinJanitor team cleans up more and more dead coins, they will accumulate numerous technological, dataand marketing assets left behind by those failed projects. What’s more, each buy out will introduce a new community of cryptocurrency enthusiasts who were holding dead coinsto JAN and the CoinJanitor project, creating a substantial network effect over time....

Dead coins have been a topic of discussion for a long time in the cryptocurrency space. Nevertheless, no one has taken any kind of action to recycle them or do anything else with them. This might have to do with the fact that blockchain experts and bitcoin enthusiasts cannot agree on a single definition for a dead coin. CoinJanitor, the world’s first, blockchain based, dead coin recycling platform, comes with a revolutionary solution to engage the blockchain community in this recycling process, helping the market deal with the dead coins in the best possible manner while it opens up the discussion about the definition of what a dead coin is.

As a community project CoinJanitor aims to include as many people as possible which is why we’re accepting contributions in more than 40 different altcoins

CoinJanitor is now ready to accept contributions in over 40 cryptocurrencies thanks to its partnership with CoinGate and Neutron. The project, which had an initial set of 6 cryptocurrencies it was planning on accepting for its public sale, decided to reach out to CoinGate and the Neutron community to work out a deal that would help it become even more inclusive. Given that one of CoinJanitor’s main goals is to allow as wide an audience as possible to participate in its revolutionary project to clean up dead coins, these partnerships will allow it to deliver on that promise.

The ICO will start on May 1, and it will end on May 31, 2018. There will be a million tokens, and half of these will be sold via the ICO. Other thirty percent of the total tokens will be held in reserve. Founders of the platform will get 10% of all tokens while partners get 5%. CoinJanitor is a simple project backed by a revolutionary idea.

Why Invest in CoinJanitor’s JAN Token?
The CoinJanitor project is designed to strengthen the cryptocurrency market from the bottom up. The process of doing so starts with buying out abandoned and untradeable coins – also called dead coins – that are trapping value on their inactive blockchains. CoinJanitor’s native cryptocurrency, JAN, is an essential tool in that process, and its benefits could not be matched by using another cryptocurrency that’s not specific to the project.

WHAT IS COINJANITOR ANYWAY?

CoinJanitor is a community-driven project which attempts to unlock the inaccessible value of so-called ‘dead coins’. While there is no commonly accepted definition for what a dead coin is, significant value remains trapped in projects which are not functioning, are not being maintained, or have a zero hash rate, producing no blocks in a couple of years, for example.

CoinJanitor will pay users to hand over their worthless cryptocurrency, integrating them back into the markets.

A unique project that will clean up the markets from dead coins is about to launch. CoinJanitor will become the first project in the world to take care of coins that failed with a unique approach to the problem. The idea is to buy out dead coin holders, giving them a way to recover some of the investment they lost in these dead coins. Once the buyouts are complete, CoinJanitor will own all the assets that belong to that coin, so it can create new tools using the data, code and other relevant assets.

A Creative Concept from Seasoned Cryptocurrency Specialists
The idea comes from a team of highly reputable cryptocurrency specialists, led by Marc Kenigsberg, a notorious Bitcoin advocate, and early adopter. Marc Kenigsberg has been involved with the gambling industry since 1999 and was responsible for some of the largest brands in the world. 6 years ago, he became involved with Bitcoin and has been a passionate advocate ever since, launching BetChain, one of the biggest Bitcoin casinos in the space and Bitcoin Chaser, one of the biggest affiliate sites in the space.

Marc came up with the idea for CoinJanitor after a discussion about failed blockchain projects. No one really knows what happens when a blockchain project dies or how it failed. Nevertheless, there can be as many as 3,000 such projects, trapping value that can be recycled.

Top 10% is a great result, especially for a project that is unique.

CoinJanitor will pay users of dead coins for their useless coins, to bring them back into the market.

Cryptocurrency markets are full of coins that have failed. These coins are functionally dead and cannot be traded. The holders of these coins are stuck, and the value left in these blockchains is locked. CoinJanitor is the first and only project so far that can change this situation. The project will buy dead coins from the people who got stuck with them, allowing them to recover some of the value they have trapped in those coins. The buyouts on the other hand will bring all those dead coin assets – users, code, data, and marketing assets – under the CoinJanitor umbrella, where they will create a powerful network effect and serve to build new market analysis tools.

CoinJanitor – a Revolutionary Recycling Solution for Dead Coins

The Objectives
Over 4,500 cryptocurrencies are in circulation today. A significant majority of them are dead. Those dead coins represent a challenge for cryptocurrency markets, as the market has to deal with value dilution while the owners of the coins have their value trapped in digital currencies that are not accepted in the market. Also, most cryptocurrency wealth is concentrated on coins with a market cap of $1 billion and above, and yet thousands of users are holding on to coins with a market cap of $50,000 or less. The CoinJanitor platform aims to recycle all these coins via CoinJanitor token through the following steps: ...  http://www.livebitcoinnews.com/coinjanitor-revolutionary-recycling-solution/

The buyouts, on the other hand, will bring all those dead coin assets – users, code, data, and marketing assets – under the CoinJanitor umbrella, where they will create a powerful network effect and serve to build new market analysis tools.

Why Should You Support CoinJanitor?

So, now that we established how running cleaner cryptocurrency markets is beneficial to everyone, it is important to explain why people should support CoinJanitor. After all, anyone who top-ranked ranked cryptocurrency should benefit from the positive externality without having to contribute. The answer lies, once again, in fundamental economic principles:

CoinJanitor contributors will become an integral part of a fast-growing community that amalgamates users from dead or failed coins throughout the market, creating a powerful network effect that adds value to the unlocked value coming from those dead or failed coins.
CoinJanitor will also produce troves of data regarding a deeply understudied segment of the market, which the staff in charge of the project will work diligently to organize for its members to use.

Idea & Token
For this moment, there are 4,500+ different cryptocurrencies, only 1,400 of them are traded on exchanges, the rest are functionally dead. The crypto assets invested into the dead tokens are now trapped and cannot be transacted or traded. This a problem for cryptocurrency markets as well, because they suffer from the decrease of capital, resources, and reputation. CoinJanitor is aiming to exchange the dead tokens for its native Janitor (JAN) token. The received dead tokens will be burned. As a result, the lost value will increase, and the owners of JAN will be able to sell or exchange them for other cryptocurrencies. This way CoinJanitor is going to contribute to the network effect by uniting the fragmented communities and reusing the spent funds by reinvesting them into future projects. In addition, CoinJanitor will create its own network, a community of loyal users working together and therefore restoring the value of the crypto market.
Their utility token called JAN will be a deflationary asset pushing the prices up and creating comfortable terms for CoinJanitor to buy out subsequent failed projects. So the earlier user will buy JAN, the more benefit they will get, as JAN becomes more and more expensive. As CoinJanitor will buy out new projects, the interest to the project will grow engaging new user to the community. CoinJanitor plans to buy out 3 dead coins for the first 2 months.
A total supply is 100 million tokens. The distribution is as follows: 50% – sale, 30% – fund for purchasing dead coins, 10% – team, 5% – partners, 5% – bounty.
According to whitepaper, the unsold tokens will be airdropped to contributors.

CoinJanitor captures trapped value from inactive and failed cryptocurrency projects and restores it to the active cryptocurrency market, bringing value to investors and the cryptocurrency ecosystem as a whole.
There are two important questions that arise for prospective contributors with just about every blockchain startup these days.
1.      Why does this project need its own coin or token rather than just using an established cryptocurrency such as Bitcoin or Ethereum?
2.      What is the coin or token’s value proposition? In other words, how will its value increase in the future?

What Happens When A Blockchain Project Fails?
Blockchain is the new buzzword. Everyone seems to want one these days, but most of the blockchain projects out there fail. When these projects fail, what happens with them? How about all the people who put money, effort, computing power or other resources into them?

A new project called CoinJanitor is the first to look at these issues and offer a user-friendly solution that will recycle the value trapped in these failed blockchain projects. CoinJanitor refers to these failed projects as dead coins, and it has a clever system to deal with them.

Bitcoin Garden: CoinJanitor, Concept and Token Value Proposition
https://bitcoingarden.org/coinjanitor-concept-and-token-value-proposition/

CoinJanitor captures trapped value from inactive and failed cryptocurrency projects and restores it to the active cryptocurrency market, bringing value to investors and the cryptocurrency ecosystem as a whole.

There are two important questions that arise for prospective contributors with just about every blockchain startup these days.

- Why does this project need its own coin or token rather than just using an established cryptocurrency such as Bitcoin or Ethereum?
- What is the coin or token’s value proposition? In other words, how will its value increase in the future?

The CoinJanitor project is designed to strengthen the cryptocurrency market from the bottom up. The process for doing so starts with buying out abandoned and untradeable coins – also called dead coins – that are trapping value on their inactive blockchains. CoinJanitor’s native cryptocurrency, JAN, is an essential tool in that process, and its benefits could not be matched by using another cryptocurrency that’s not specific to the project....

CoinJanitor, Forks, and Value to Investors!
Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past year you’ve probably heard of the term ‘fork’. Fork’s came to fame in 2017 with it sparking great controversy throughout the crypto community and actually dividing many into separate camps. Ethereum faced a philosophical dilemma in early 2017 proceeding the infamous DAO hack that parted 50 million dollars from their investors. The dilemma was simple: roll back the chain until before the hack occurred and go on as if nothing had happened or continue the (then) main Ethereum blockchain and uphold the tenet of immutability. Eventually, the decision was made to opt for the former choice, but at much contention and the cost of many members of the Ethereum community leaving; a sizable number of the old Ethereum community have kept the original chain operating to this day, called Ethereum Classic.

JAN’s Value Proposition

First and foremost, JAN will increase in value because of the project’s unique community growth mechanism. Every time that CoinJanitor buys out an inactive project, that project’s coin holders will receive JAN tokens and be introduced to the CoinJanitor project. From there, they will face a choice between trading their JAN tokens for other currencies or holding.

Human psychology plays to JAN’s favor here, as most people will likely choose an inactive approach and hold on to their new tokens in hopes of regaining value rather than making the effort to trade them for pennies on the dollar relative to their initial holdings. Not only that, but it’s money that all of those coin holders will have assumed was lost when the original project failed. That further increases the odds that they would be willing to speculate on JAN’s value increasing rather than immediately cashing out for an insignificant sum. As a result of those factors, the CoinJanitor community will be constantly integrating new users under a single umbrella, contributing to a powerful network effect that increases demand for JAN with each project that the team buys out.

How will CoinJanitor Achieve its Goals?

CoinJanitor has already started gathering data to profile these dead coins, finding out which are the most valuable dead coins out there and how it can use those assets to create more value. A key component of this profiling exercise is to define what a dead coin is. CoinJanitor came up with the following 4 main features that allow it to understand which coins are dead and which it can buy out:

The dead coin has a market cap of $50,000 USD or less.
It is a PoW – Proof of Work – coin.
Said coin has been given an opportunity to succeed but has failed, so it has been in the market for 2 years or more.
The coin is not traded on exchanges.
Once CoinJanitor starts going through the lists it has compiled with coins that fit these conditions, it will start contacting the communities and creators of those coins to establish a buy-out agreement. Then it will proceed to take over those coins’ assets and decommission them. This includes burning all the coins it acquires during the buyouts, to effectively put the targeted dead coin to rest.

Hi to all Coin Janitor fans, actual or further investors, community and everybody else interested in this project.

I wrote the project review with PROs and CONs as well as detailed working scheme.

http://ruth.news/136-coinjanitor-en

"Have you ever heard about the Zabbaleen community in Cairo? These are the people who collect the garbage all over the city and recycle it. Due to the hard economic situation, Christians Copts had to find the way to survive in the Islamic world. They invented trash collecting and pigs farming. Years passed but Zabbaleen still can make on living with garbage recycling. What is more important with the great effects (they are 4 times more effective than Western collecting companies). Why am I starting an ICO review from the garbage collectors? Cause on crypto market we have a lot of trash for recycling. And CoinJanitor promises to deal with it." (...)

"I guess that this scheme will go through some modification, but for today it already shows how complex data CoinJanitor will analyze.  That is why their full reports on the market situation will be released just in the end of this year. Nevertheless, according to their Whitepaper, just in next 2 months after the ICO, they want to resurrect two coins. I really hope they will make it because for the project it means a great kick or a ticket to the moon."

Hope you will like it:)

Come to my mind, do you have any plan for a case where a coin is about to be delisted from an exchange, the dev is not reachable, and the coin holders cannot withdraw due to no active node. Even the exchange themselves are looking for active node to facilitate the final withdrawal. On such case like this, would you help looking for active node?

Actually, there is someone who tried to revive the project, but it seems his own effort is not enough. It can be a good way to promote yourself, IMO

We appreciate your views, but you need to take into consideration the role we are playing in the Cryptocurrency ecosystem.

Countless investors have lost money through shady ICOs that did not yield any profits.

Answer me this: If you invested in a project that you lost a lot of money on, would you not want that money back?

If yes, then you need to understand that we are here for the right reasons and we are needed.

Every investment has an entry door, hardly any of them have exits.

We are here to help you when things go south.

Is your ICO ongoing or finished? I can't find this information.

Still reading about your project and I have to admit that there is some value but you are the first mover in this field and there is a lot of concerns. I have hundreds of questions but let's wait for an answer to the first one, which is most important for me right now.

I will give you an advise OP. Try to keep this thread clean of spam. Report shitpost, spam and off topics. Moderators will be happy to delete this post. They are doing their job great and very fast. You need a lot of quality discussion here. There are enough scam accusations in your thread. If any investor looks here to search for information, just like me, will run away when he sees this spam contest and that nobody does nothing with this.

We aim to unlock value trapped in failed coins, add value through the destruction of dead coin communities and make that value transferable into the markets. Under the CoinJanitor umbrella, that network effect should grow, compounding the value of our token.

True that the group is quite passive, but I think that's because there are very few numbers of people involved on the team. I think this group is a one-manned team? Their aim is great, though. And to answer your question (I vaguely think I've actually encountered such question, but can't find it anywhere within the last three pages of this thread) their aim is to "merge" abandoned and dead coins into their bodies, giving a chance of certain coins (ones that already abandoned by respective team of the said project and we, as token holders, consider as nothing more than a worthless coin on our wallet) to get some value and being sold, then "erased" from etherchain, thus cleaning the directories from "junk coins". If the market rebounds well in the next 2 weeks, listing Coinjanitor on the exchange will be very reasonable. The current situation shows that your prediction is relatively accurate.

Telegram announcement September 12:

After speaking with many exchanges and people in the community we believe dex is key. And we have chosen our first to be a team we know with an exciting roadmap that will benefit JAN. The exchange space ia changing rapidly and we have listed for the future of the market. We will be listing on others in the coming weeks but now we will be focusing on closing our first buyouts! JAN is live on https://azexchange.io/

I don't think another exchange it's a priority right now. Most important is the first round of coin buyouts, this will prove the project is working.

We agree that another exchange is not the priority right now.
We're in talks with some deadcoins at the moment and actively looking for more "intros" to coin owners.
Once we've done the first round of buyouts then we will do more listings and some other partnerships..
Thanks to everyone for supporting and believing in us even while we've been quiet on forums and social. We are pushing hard and everyday and The Janitor will succeed in cleaning crypto!

Thanks, yes we have not been as active here as we should or will. But we are not passive in our efforts. Merging is one option but there are others depending on the scenario. Right now we are working on closing the buyout terms with the first coins. This takes a lot of work but until we can announce the first coins there will not be a lot of "news". But we will be more available here to answer any questions or comments. Thank you!

As we prepare to move to the actual swap stage of the project and validate our use case in the real world we will be launching a new website.
The first part of this is our Token Swaps page where users can fill in the tokens they want swapped and when/if we get to that coin we'll notify all holders.
Project owners can also submit projects that are looking to shut down or be bought out.
Check it out here and tell us what you want us to buy - https://www.coinjanitor.io/token-swaps/ (https://www.coinjanitor.io/token-swaps/)

Remember that if you are the owner of an inactive project you can submit your details on that page too and we'll contact you to discuss a cooperation.

We have an interesting chicken and egg situation here.
It is difficult for some project owners to see value in holding $JAN tokens as we arent currently actively traded with liquidity. So liquidity will make the buyouts easier. Buyouts are our use case so completing them will bring interest and demand and liquidity. Hence the egg..
Either way we are speaking to devs all the time and are in advanced stages with a few coins. We will keep pushing and things will get easier after the first buyouts. Just putting it out there to the "forum wisdom".
Thanks guys!

After months of intense negotiations with several different deadcoin developers, CoinJanitor’s team has struck a deal to acquire Globycoin. A CoinJanitor community member played a key role in establishing the channel of communication between Globycoin and CoinJanitor team members, showing how crucial community members are to the project.

The buyout was completed on May 12th, 2019. Asset transfer from Globycoin to CoinJanitor was completed immediately following the buyout and now the CoinJanitor team is working to finalize the next phase of the buyout, which includes analysis of code, transaction data and meta data, Globycoin asset integration, and of course the coin swaps for Globycoin users.

CoinJanitor also has a token swaps page where crypto users can list the deadcoins that they would like CoinJanitor to purchase....

Have you guys heard of the new bags token that wants to upcycle worthless tokens? Can you see clearly what the difference between the projects are?

This is another sign of how we're affecting the market and making it healthier. A lot of their ideas and language come from work we have done over the last two years. This is great and means we are succeeding in teaching people about the new to clean up!

What are your thoughts?

The RxEAL swap rate has been adjusted from 500 rxl to1 JAN to 100 rxl to 1 JAN.
This has been done based on an ongoing discussion with our community and the rxeal holders who lost significant amounts in the project and are asking for help in recouping wherever possible.
We are not always able to adjust swap rates but we are trying to accommodate the holders where we can.
Follow the discussion or give us your opinion on our telegram group (https://t.me/CoinJanitor).

CoinJanitor is a great project and the concept is definitely much needed in the exchange space today.

A couple questions for the CoinJanitor team:

1. How long the team can operate with the funds you raised in the ICO?

2. How many people that currently are working full-time on the project?

3. How big is your budget for future exchange listings? Do you plan to list on a bigger exchange than SouthExchange in the future?

We have been added to CMC.
We're also looking to launch something to help speed up the buyout process.
We'll post more info soon.

Who will update the info in CMC as your coin is still Untracked Listing category?
Also, if you can have the list of dead tokens that you are willing to buy, that would be great.
Or it is still the same process, filling up the form and you will reply if you will buy it or not?
What are your considerations to buy dead tokens?

For now we are in the untracked category.
Updates are manual but not often.
To buy coins we need to speak to the project owners or devs so the best is a connection.
We then announce on those channels to the coin holders.
At the moment it is still one coin at a time.
We're looking at options for a much larger list but at the moment we announce on the coin's social channels and telegram.

I understand now why the process is a lil bit slow.
As you need to contact with the respective devs first for a specific dead coin.
And most of the time, the devs of those dead coins are hiding or running away or don't want to be contacted.
Especially those that deceived their users, and rip their investors' money.
So yeah, your work is bit difficult here and challenging.
Maybe you can look for another option how to serve fast your clients here?
