Bitcoin is now reaching 11K and it might go to 15K soon. A bullish to bearish trend change is possible, but not very likely. Now big financial institutions show interest in cryptocurrencies, the price can only go up. You can't wait for bitcoin to drop to 4K, that just won't happen. You've just missed 6K and recently 9K, so better step in now or you'll really miss out.

March begins, according to the schedule of last year, during this period of time, growth begins! There are no negative news, and the market is slowly starting to revive! I think that now the trend of growth begins! Now is the best time to buy bitcoin, there will be no such low prices until the summer!

The price of Bitcoin is not stable at all and no one can say you when it will dump 4k. The stroke of up to 4K impossible not, if you ask me, but when things will happen is unknown. It's too late for Bitcoin, you should try altcoins, for example, you can try Minexcoin.

Maybe 6k is possible, 4k would be great for those who wait for it to drop but it is difficult, I think market is still bearish, so maybe it can stop rising and go back again.

You will never get an actual picture of bitcoin's price trend from the comments of the community members unless you start tracking the bitcoin price closely. All members will have different opinions and since it is a bitcoin related forum, you will mostly see optimistic people around who believes bitcoin will go up at any point of time. Which is a good thing for the community but doesn't necessarily provides the right information.

Also, bitcoin's price trend doesn't always follow the technical analysis. It is a raw reflection of public sentiment. The only way to determine the price trend is to closely follow and track it and use your own intuition before investing.

Generally, if you are looking at a long term opportunity, I would encourage you to go ahead with the current price as it possess significant future potential.

I wouldn't touch it at this current price.  10.7k.  It is much too high to buy at this price.

This is why waiting for the dip until eternity isn't recommended. You can wait for the dip but don't be too hopeful for it.

Do you thing Bitcoin still in large downtrend ? 4k is possible ?
I guess we passed a lot of dip so this downtrend is about to end soon. 4k is still possible but don't be too confident, its either you'll buy with the next correction or you'll miss the train.

Anyone with a good skill of forecast can help me compose my mind please. Thank you.
Sorry I'm not good with this.

All are speculation but let's see where it really on track. Because the market now is on green marks so I am hopeful were not seeing into falling down to 4k. Waiting for the dip to buy is really risks once it drops you have still the chance to invest in bitcoin.

It is not on downtrend, it is completely on a fluctuating state. This will gradually get changed gaining more resistance to move forward and reach new ath than the past peak prices. For users who missed the chance of investing at $6000 could wait for a little and could invest at $12000.

Why not just hold bitcoin to give you less effort and profit in due time? $4,000 is too much and $6,000 is already enough, I'm even thinking about $8,000 would be the least.
Do you thing Bitcoin still in large downtrend ?
Large downtrend? Not anymore I guess.
4k is possible ?
Even $1,000 or even lower is possible if its market cap starts to plummet again.

$4k is still possible. Nobody says that it's not.

2018 is still relatively bearish when compared to 2017. We're seeing some small pumps here and there and pretty solid recoveries after dumps such as the one we saw just a few days ago (and now we're over $10k once again). The fact that pumps are not as big as last year definitely has a mental impact on traders, especially the inexperienced ones. That's why I think there is a
POTENTIAL but not guarantee of price going to $4k.

However, if it does happen then it's going to be temporary. Probably going to last a few months at worst and then make a recovery back up to $8-9k. I would recommend starting to accumulate BTC at anything below $12k.

first things first, you say you want to buy bitcoin to invest in altcoins. then if you are really good at making profit from altcoins, you should not care about what current bitcoin price is because the profit that you can make from altcoins on a daily basis is a LOT higher than the possibly drop that bitcoin may or may not have.

i say the chances of seeing any kind of major drop is much smaller now and will shrink each time it goes down to test the bottom support ($9k range) and comes back up again failing to drop more.
as you can see for the past week or so the trend has been stability and going sideways more than anything else.

If you want value when you invest, you should look at the charts and run some basic technical analysis. The low for 2018 was February 6th IMO (Which I have stated in a few posts)

Warren Buffet has a good quote on when to buy and sell. It's something like: Run when people are greedy and buy when there is blood in the streets.

BTC is approaching a breakout above the upper trend line, if that happens, it's going to take off in March IMO. On the GDAX exchange, if it breaks above 11,695, your probably not going to see prices under 10k this year.

It's definitely not in a downtrend.

The pullback was over ages ago. If anything, price is moving without a general direction right now. There is absolutely nothing to worry about. Accuracy of forecasts are generally very inaccurate, but I think that we may see $15k soon.

Buying is about what your objective is... If you want to make a short term trade, wait till when price drops to $7k again and then by for the recovery up to $10k. That should make you a fair amount of profit. Investing now to ride it up to $12k wouldn't be a bad idea either. Obviously could go either way, though.

You might have noticed that the dips are reaching higher and higher lows in the past month since correcting back from 6k. Obviously there will always be profit taking at 11 and 12k, for those traders looking to book in easy 10 to 20% profits buying just below 10k, but soon there will be those buying at 10.5 k looking to sell at 12.5 and 13, so you can definitely expect it to climb higher... unless more people sell off for alts and liquidity. If Monday we see 12k, prepare for 13, to 15. before correcting back to 11 and 12.

I don't think that the correction made last January to February is the last correction bitcoin will undergo this year. I believe there are still corrections to be made but i don't think the next correction can cause bitcoin to go beyond the dip it had few weeks ago when it down 5,000$ mark.

bitcoin has not been on a downtrend ever since 6th of February which is 22 days ago let alone be on a strong downtrend!!! we had the downtrend in the beginning of this year and it lasted a little longer than a week before it came to an end.
now with every passing day that price stays between $9k and $11k it means downtrend is over and we are getting ready for the next phase.

there is a possibility for some sudden drops if some market makers go nuts and wanted to test the waters but other than that there won't be any major drops that OP is looking for.

The downtrend is over and we should expect another serious pumping from now to the middle of this year. Buying now should be the best thing to do as you will make good profits if you do so. As you know trading involved many risk and it is still possible for bitcoin to stills fall to $4,000 but many experts are saying that the downtrend is over.

This is what people often do, when selling bitcoin for profit or buying bitcoin when the price goes down. When it comes to selling, the most common mistake is to expect bitcoin to rise more than this, but what happens bitcoin decreases and he assumes that the price will rise again, eventually it happens to lose. And vice versa, when bitcoin price decreases we will buy bitcoin but we keep waiting and hope bitcoin will go down, but what happened bitcoin price rise finally we do not so buy bitcoin. But now you expect bitcoin prices to drop to 4k price, I guess that will not happen. Because if you look at bitcoin price every year, in March bitcoin prices will rise high.

Not anymore, bitcoin's price has stabilized in the past few weeks so i don't think a correction might happen soon although we don't know if btc's market will soon become bearish or bullish, all we know right now is that short term trading is the best course of action in order to get profits from trading btc.

As we noticed the bitcoin performance last week after the fluctuation the price reached the 11k value  and after it fall back to 9k and climb again to 10k on this moment  so perhaps the downtrend of bitcoin is over therefore you missed the train again. Ahaha. And base also on my prediction the price now will exceed maybe 12k is possible.

I bold those words that is the common mistakes of most new investors, if you wanted to buy don’t wait too much especially if you’re not monitoring it in a close time, you have the chance at low price but because of doubts now it’s gone. There is no such good skill in predicting the price of bitcoin as only great timing is the game. I don’t say that it won’t happen again but it might not at this time or within this year.

I cannot say it is a strong down trend as obviously it is trying to re-test the 12,000$ level but with the prices going down I can say that the whales are not letting the prices to go up just yet as I don't think that their accumulation is still finish. Also looking at how people wanted to see Bitcoin below 9,000$ again which didn't happen made me think that we will be going on a up trend very soon. We still need to observe the prices as a lot of movements can still happen.

The price of $ 4,000 for bitcoin will never be more. I don't see any downward trend. On the contrary, it seems to me that the price of bitcoin tends up. Whales are making great efforts to keep this growth. But I'm sure they can't hold their growth for long. It will be very expensive for them.

Correction is expected in this markets but pullbacks are going to  give hopes about future prices. Bear market is going to destroy the reputation of cryptocurrencies for those who came for  quick buck in cryptos. Next possible event is accumulation and pullbacks which will hapen in next months likely.

Title: Re: Is bitcoin still in a strong downtrend ?
Post by: STT on March 13, 2018, 09:06:24 PM
Its hard to define a bear market when bitcoin and crypto in general is so volatile already.   Normally a 20% drop from peak would qualify that but I dont believe that is the case currently.

The view I received was the drop in price is roughly following a 50 day moving average, this is in decline and represents the overall current trend downwards.   However at the same time we have the 200 day average which shows Bitcoin price for the longer term and including alot of 2017 which as we know was very much an increase overall.

The conclusion between these two effects is indecision not bearish so much but a meeting of two waves like you might observe naturally.    Neither is certain to beat the other, the stregnth of both trends are in market and meet until the momentum is disappated.

So to be bearish now requires alot of the gains and momentum accumulated in 2017 to be defeated by the power of prices declining in the last 50 days.    The 200 day MA is still rising and overall I do not think we turn down until the direction of this becomes flat to negative.

from the first you make this thread up to now, bitcoin prices continue to decline. if according to my monitoring, now is the right time to buy. it's hard for her taste to wait for the price to touch $ 4,000, which I know, we will soon reflect the price from now on. the bullish market keeps pumping up prices so we can get out of that horrible zone now. the bear market is coming to an end.

Seems weird for the big players to drop it too low, distribution will then happen at low prices as buyers start to come in again. Accumulation is happening right now, and if it falls too low distribution will start.  I dont see how too low price is going to help big players, as bitcoins are going to be more distributed. Another thing is mining cost, but it is not so important. Miners will go bankrupt, the difficulty will come down to match the price. Its just distribution at low prices i dont get.

Bitcoin if I see last year recovery is very fast but I don't know why this year is a little bit slow down.
Maybe about the market situation, many investors panic and sell their bitcoin.

Well september is still a long way to go though i can agree that many people are looking at that time wearily with the sellout of mt.gox btcs resuming. If btc will have another run like last year it would likely be after that

If the double bottom confirms, the downtrend will probably be over and we will be at $10k in May.

If it keeps declining, then $4k in two weeks, and $2k in May. In this case we can have a recover in May after $2k or in July after $1k. Its possible it will stay in three-digits for some days, too. Recovery will be very slow and we will only be back to $10k in December.

And if $1000 doesn't hold we'll be up for $500, and when $500 doesn't hold we should prepare ourself for $200. :D

Your prediction is all over the place and doesn't hold much reality to it. Nothing in the world justifies the price to fall back down that much, and especially not with how people adjust their predictions based on how the market moves. People in each active bull run are mentally being played with, and that's definitely not a surprise in this case. I just find it quite entertaining, more precisely said.

Bull run last year = $50,000-$100,000 speculation.
Reverse bull run this year = $1000-$4000 speculation.

The thing with reading charts is that basically ANY scenario can be pointed out, but that doesn't mean it will automatically happen. Last year was the perfect example of how useless technical analysis can be when greed and fomo start playing an important role. Analysis said that the top would be $3000, $4000, $5000, $6000, etc. All the way till the peak this nonsense was ruling the market.

I think not, because I'm basing my speculation in data from previous crashes. In 2011 there was a 94% crash, in 2015 a 87% crash, and current crash is already 70%. From 20k to 200 it would be a 99% crash. I think money will flow in before it reaches this value, and the price will not go lower than $800, in a worst case scenario.

Just because I'm saying it can happen, dont means it will happen.

Don’t at least use the term ‘destroyed’ for bitcoin. It seems as if it is going to leave the crypto market forever. If bitcoin is going to face another dump in the coming months, that is not an issue at all. If bitcoin is not performing up to the mark, so are the altcoins doing.

This is why bitcoin not loses market or investors when the prices get down drastically. We simply need to hold on to our coins as tight as possible.

Title: Re: Is bitcoin still in a strong downtrend ?

As of today, Bitcoin's price is playing around $7200-7400 if it breaks the 7400 mark then, there would a high possibility that it will reach the $8000 mark. But if doesn't, then there are 2 possibilities that might happen, it would stabilize at around $7200+ or much worst it would depreciate up until the $6000 mark. Though Bitcoin is somehow showing some strength to rise up again, we can't be too complacent. A simple mistake could cost a lot, so better not to let our guard off. Be mindful and cautious especially if you are trading.

I think bitcoin is starting to recover from yet another downfall once again. Even if the cryptomarkets are pleasing in the eyes again, but still, the price is still down as it is starting to recover back and made me think that this will be the start of the bullish market.

I believe it's just another short term bounce.
Imo we are not done yet and I expect more attempts to push us below $6k and maybe below $5k as well. Just to clean all the weak hands and rational thinkers out who believe they know better.
The market and especially Bitcoin always loves to teach you a lesson. In positive ways, as also in negative ways.

I strongly believe that you did not buy bitcoin then and you have decided to buy below $4000! Because at February 2018 when you opened this thread you bought and you are still holding up till now I believe that you should be in a big mess by now.  Now that bitcoin might still be going down I strongly recommend that if you really want to buy at the bottom then you have to wait for the market to move below $3000 before investing  . It is still possible that bitcoin might move down below the current pricing.

I think bitcoin dropped to the level of $ 3000 is enough, because now it has been trending at the level of $ 3600. I hope to increase again to the level of $ 4000 in the second quarter. Optimistic must still be done even though many people predict going down again.

yes your "guess" came true. just like how you can possibly close your eyes and throw a dart at a dartboard and hit the bulls eye right in the middle of the board. that doesn't make you skillful though.
in this case $6k was the bottom and we had no reason to believe otherwise, and your $4000 guess as you can see was an incident because of unpredictable events.

It is neither destroyed nor recovered. Its still somewhere in between, the price is seriously low compared to what it could be right now (what I believe would be over 5.8 thousand dollars) but unfortunately from the bear market to less miners (lower difficulty equals lower costs equals to quick sales at these prices) to misfortune things like ETF getting withdrawn and all that resulted with this price so we need to still keep waiting.

Good thing is we are not going down anymore which is a great news, bad news is we are not going up neither so that is bad. Hence we need to first go up a bit to say that the recovery started, maybe over 4k is enough for now, as long as we stay over 4k for couple months that is good, after that we can discuss how we can move gradually upside but without that first step its not really that good.

Not only $4k but also $10k is possible for bitcoin. Bitcoin is a currency that break all the highest records in any time. It is still a strong and popular coin. So bitcoin has much potential and a bright future.

I think not, now is not a strong down trend, but i think we need more people to join and to get some bitcoin and hold and only after we can get a good grow, maybe will grow at 10k but we need a little more time.

It's really funny to read some comments last year because this thread is like one year old already.  ;D

I say it's funny because there are even a lot of people saying that bitcoin is not on a downtrend and won't go below $4K but we have seen the drama in November last year that causes the price to go below the $4K that the OP is asking about a year ago.

Also shows that predicting the price movement is very very difficult and no one can really tell what's going to happen in the future and even TA is not a good indication or help for longer term predictability.

As of now bitcoin is in the verge for a forward push. As a beginning to the same the price has been staggering within the $3600-$3700 mark. Possibly the barrier breaking of $4000 is much expected for the month end. Even now whether the market is on strong downtrend or uptrend is unpredictable.

Yup, I wouldn’t consider this the end of the downtrend we’re in yet, though I do strongly think that we are out of the worst of the bear market. It’s been pretty disappointing from both the bears and bulls recently as attempts to move up and down have mostly been stopped, though I could see support perhaps giving way if LTC continues to drop or bleed as the market seems to currently be following LTC prices right now. Bulls or bears could take prices in either direction with a good volume move right now.

I dont think its a strong downtrend but until we get above 50 day moving average its fairest to say it continues with negative momentum.     The recent low today was the 8 day trend which we are above meaning we are close to breaking above 50 day but this positive move is still short term term and we have to confirm above about 3650
Then the 200 day which is more long term then either of those is descending and about 5000 or so, it would be good if we can close to nearer there and have a proper tug of war between bulls and bears
