Title: Sha-256 only MultiPool
Post by: alpha492 on September 28, 2013, 12:32:44 AM
Has this been done?  If not it would be an awesome idea.  I have about 20 usb erupters running side by side with 2 xfire amd 7970's and I'm pissed off I have to point the erupters at btc only because it seems to be about the least profitable cryptocurrency these days, but they can't mine scrypt so your kind of stuck.  Anyone heard of a multipool that you can asic mine on?

If anyone decides to start one I'll be the first to register :P

No, but I suspect more sha256 coins may start popping up as asic miners look for something more profitable to point their machines to and habitual alt-coin creators see this as an opportunity. This may lead to a sha256-based multipool.

If you're using Windows you can use CGWatcher to do this: http://manotechnology.blogspot.com/2013/07/profitability-mining-in-cgwatcher.html

You can run two instances of CGWatcher, one for GPUs and one for ASICs, so they can each have their own profiles/coins. You just have to copy the CGWatcher folder to another location so each instance has its own folder, and set each instance to override the API port (e.g. first instance uses 4028, second uses 4029 so they don't cross-communicate.) If you try it and need help let me know.

Also, Cryptsy's new auto-sell feature means you can probably set up auto-payout from your pools to Cryptsy and have them automatically exchanged to BTC. I haven't looked into this so I can't say for certain how well it works, but something you may want to check into. This would solve the final step in the process (which a pool like Middlecoin or Hashco.ws does for you).

Those are scrypt pools.  I was hoping for a sha256 multipool as well.

Right?  Scrypt pools are easy to find, but sha256 just doesn't seem to exist.  Its strange considering how much fluctuation there is in the sha256 currencies there is and how much mining power is wasted being stuck on just bitcoin.

Give it time, these will start popping up out of necessity for profit.  It makes me wonder how the value of all the sha-256 coins will reflect on this.

Not much SHA256 coins around, probably no one sees profit in running a multipool for SHA only

Actually I've built a SHA256 multipool, see my sig. I've got 10 of my BE's pointed at it and a couple of others are mining from the OCAU forums. We're waiting on our Bitfury based Drillbit boards and playing around with BE's in the meantime.

MultiMiner (http://thread.multiminerapp.com) allows you to easily mine the most profitable coins - whether SHA-256 or Scrypt - with minimal setup. You can also choose your own pools, payouts, and coins. If you have your pools deposit to Cryptsy (http://cryptsy.com) you can use their "Auto Sell" feature to convert everything to BTC automatically.

MultiMiner supports USB ASICs, Erupter Blades, and practically any other type of mining hardware by way of its built-in Stratum Proxy.

I'm going to give it a try with my BE's overnight and see what I see. I too, cannot wait for my Drillbits lol

You have to switch yourself.

They just added this, fee is a bit steep on this pool though not terrible but worth it I think.

Unfortunately I think their still working out some of the bugs on BTC

I haven't tried them yet, waiting to hit my payout threshold for the day then pointing my erupters at this for at least 24hrs.
