Title: Scammers of merit points
Post by: Baoo on February 28, 2018, 09:12:59 PM
There are few users who trade in merit system  by giving merit point ( to good post) once, for each other . ( they created a group with many users).
it will be as the following: ( like a circle)

So , If there is a group which has more than 100 people, How to track and stop those scammers?  ???
Therefore,  hope that those bad behaviors will be stopped soon.  :)

If you see somebody abusing the merit system it can be reported, there is an entire thread dedicated to dealing with these people.

The thread is located here , https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2896910.0

Do you have proof of anyone doing what you're saying? Sending 1 sMerit gives the receiver 0.5 sMerit, so the circle would be starved for merit quickly and easily tracked down.

This activity caused by the free merits when the system is created. "Especially legendary accounts"
It is very difficult to obtain fast sMerits for trading

Correct. As long as none of the sources are abusing their sMerit, the damage caused by such method won't be too big as they will run out of merit quickly.

Plus, members who can let's say afford to get merits won't have any gains in joining this type of scheme. Not only it'll be unfair for them, it would also make their hard earned accounts into the lists of users of abusing the system.

Eventually a pattern will be made obvious and groups doing this will be caught out. It's a little far in my opinion to assume this is going on because it sounds like a lot of work for not much of a reward.

There has not been any cases of source abuse, yet, has there?

This was exactly my thought process when I'm considering the long-term affects of these types of users. I imagine we will experience the worst of it in the initial stages and then they will subside out of existence, unless someone builds up a long-con involving merit. So, initial and potentially long-term will be our biggest worries for merit-abuse. Anyone that can earn merits wouldn't want to be involved, and anyone that can't earn merits would quickly be useless to these groups/circles.

contents ignored
I don't think you should publish a post which contains link to image (that image is not needed) to make your OP likely oversized and un-comfortable with some users (like Jet Cash, who hate oversized, capitalized, highlighted, poor-formated threads).
I nearly gave some to a newbie, but his post was capitalised, and I hate that, so I passed over his post.
~
I've now got a lot of people on ignore for merit begging and trading, using oversized text and the misuse of graphics, so maybe I shouldn't go looking for posts to award with merit. :) I've had to adopt a fairly strict policy on post format because it was taking far too long for me to read threads.

You should not worry too much about those merit abusers (most of them come from account farmers, then due to massive impacts of one-month-old merit system they changed to merit farmers) will be banned all (all accounts in found merit farmers will be banned).

Moderator (namely hilariousetc) of the forum found some merit farmers and banned all of them (over 200 accounts in one merit farmer). There is link to this topic, created by hilariousetc

I was talking that merit system can be abused, this scheme is genius and kinda clear, but anyway it is tricky. If you have enough proves of the scheme and concrete users you may perform it to a moderator and there it goes his work.
