http://oi43.tinypic.com/b7cnzq.jpg Last Thursday, an inaugural event of the Simon Fraser University Bitcoin Club was held in Vancouver, British Columbia. We had about 40 or 50 people come out to hear a panel of speakers (including the co-founder of Free Geek Vancouver) an introductory seminar on Bitcoin. The Q&A and networking session was especially engaging! It was a great success! As people get involved at a local level. Those in Canada and around the world will spur innovation. Enabling a wider acceptance as to the Bitcoin concept and the economy that is expected to grow globally because of it.

All that in the span of 2 hours. Most people in the audience have only heard about Bitcoin in passing. They knew very little about it. Yes, all 3 guest speakers could be considered entrepreneurs (one of them co-founded Free Geek). About 1/3 of the audience were entrepreneurs (we had the founder of CarSurfing in attendance). I hope there will be more events like this throughout different cities in the world. It's social events like these that makes Bitcoin really pop.
