Cappasity is making a Decentralized AR/VR ecosystem for 3D content exchange, it's different from we're doing. 3DES is making a decentralized 3D slicer via a tasks exchange that can be implemented in other areas too. So these 2 projects are both related to 3D printing, but they focus on different goals and aspects.

But it requires rather a lot of time and CPU, that's why it's beneficial to make a decentralized option: slicing tasks will be distributed through the tasks exchange, where it will be proceeded by network users. Guys, don't overthink it. Devs, you'd rather speed up the development then design that t-shirts

The profitability will depend on supply & demand ratio, the price will depend on that balance. The exact price level is unpredictable, just as for mining, where the price depends on the difficulty level and exchange rates.
However, when it comes to slicing, CPU will be used to provide an actual service and the profitability will be more stable. Also, it’s not possible to create ASICS for slicing.

Hello! I was searching for other 3D projects, and surprisingly only 3DES is focusing 3D printing like this. I found some projects that are going to print there own stuff, but that's totally different.

Blockchain is used to decentralize the process, make it cheaper and of higher quality. And later it might be used for copyright protection as well.

An arbitrage node will protect all users from unfair actions and fraud.

Still there are many low power computers, more than you actually think. Also, soon it will be common to control 3d printers using a smartphone.

In our project we use blockchain to decentralize slicing. Thus we can help to reduce time and money costs. Our target audience are small/medium 3d printing studios or individuals, who are printing items, but don't necessarily do the 3d models on their own. Usually they don't have powerful computers, so the time costs for slicing are a big deal for them.
Also blockchain can be used to protect copyright issues, that is very important for printing parts of equipment or health care items.

Not everyone makes a model. Many people take ready models and just print it, cause you need special programs and skills for that.

decentralized slicing is useful in case you are going to print smth and you don't have a powerful computer for that. Or in the future maybe you'll be even use your smartphone to controll 3d printer, you wouldn't like to use it for slicing.

Pretty sure that the project will have a good result. They have the needed potential. And I don't see any serious competitors in 3d/blockchain area.

As a 3D printer user, I'm not seeing a use case for this.  For the hobby to prosumer users that run something like Cura or Simplifi3D, slicing takes a second or two.  For more complicated machines like Markforged, slicing takes a fair bit of time, but their slicer is limited to their cloud service anyway.  What actual commercial products need parallelized cloud slicing, and why is blockchain required for this, vs. distributed computing-only?

It sounds like the blockchain is implemented as a way of distributing or running the slicing process in parallel.  So, make a process that already takes almost no time at all and try to make it faster, for a physical process that is measured in hours.

HI! Nice to see that you guys are seriously working on bulding the community, that's one of the key aspects for the ICO success.

I don't get it.  I watched the MVP video, and actually it's helpful to not understand Russian.  If you just watch the video and see the MVP in action, and you understand 3D printing, you will realize that this software is probably pre-2009 in terms of... anything.  No preview, no toolpaths, hardly any printer support.  Of course, that all can come over time.  The demo of the MVP is centralized, which in this case I suppose means that all of the slicing is done on the local computer.  And notice how quickly it was done.  So why in the world would anyone want to have a token for a decentralized slicer?  To this date, I do not believe anyone has given a reasonable answer to this question, if any at all.

 The project is very highly specialized. But since 3D printing is only beginning to develop, the product has a great future.

as a graphic designer, 3d designer and a printer owner that have spent a LOT of money on software that mostly slows down any pc while working on a project, now this is one thing that im sure everyone hates and that is also what makes the process become longer than should.
i strongly believe this is a great solution to provide us the 3d printer owners, designers to create a bigger database of STL files.
we all know as designers that sometimes when you working on something that is NOT a 10 min simple design you would sometimes need another set of eyes that can get you through that part that is an issue, now if we have some sort of an STL market place / hire or just if you even want to contribute a group project that would make 3d software become old news and we would see a new era of 3d printing and designing.

wow A  3d designer and a owner of a bunch of 3d printers im super excited about this project and cant wait to see it in action as this would be a great new world of 3D community and software.
over the past few years ive spent a lot of money on 3D software that slows down your pc and tends to cause problems.
this would take 3D slicing into another level and i cant wait to use such a platform.
i wonder what would be the cost using this and interesting to see how it will be priced as the best software out on the market right now is about $149 and its a lifetime version.
one thing i know is that there would no longer be such a heavy usage of the cpu and if you really want to get into details than the lifespan of your pc will extend without this cpu stress.
