The HaoBao I know just sells chinese food. Looks like the name's being used more on the bad side now. :( But yeah, you gotta be aware and careful nowadays with crypto. I'm curious about how are they stealing coins from users. If they can't hack their wallets, it would more likely phishing, which may be a more effective way for them if the user isn't that aware of their scheme.

Use a hardware wallet, know who you are paying and why, use escrow online and if it's too good to be true then it most likely is.
This, I wouldn't trust an online wallet, or an exchange wallet for a moment. Never put your security in anybody else's hands, always protect yourself and your hard earned money. All I can say is I wish these leeches would wake up one day and see the damage they do, and then learn to become normal people.

McAfee was the leading company for deterring hacking and viruses from getting on their customer computers with their security suite and antivirus programs.
So you think he would have the upper hand on these hackers who are still stating they are able to hack into people's accounts to steal their cryptocurrency.
But if what this Lazarus is saying is true then everybody should be warned because their company would know how to do it. Since their programs were indebted in protecting peoples computer from such malicious attacks in the past.

Or you can just get a hardware wallet and take yourself out of the loop of these type of hack attempts in the first place.
The new Trezor looks like a good one with upgraded security features available. 8)

It is impossible to protect yourself from hackers by 100 %. They're constantly coming up with new hacking techniques. Our life on the contrary every year becomes more dependent on the Internet. Hackers will always look for moves in our security system. With the growing popularity of crypto-currencies, hackers gained access to the money that is in many computers. They will never give up the opportunity to receive them.

Thanks for the heads up notice. It's sad because newbies that are not aware will be hard hit. Besides that, one just need to be very careful with site we visit and also take keen note of the site security level so that when you mistype the url and you suspect any unsual activities, you should just get out as fast as you can. Thanks

As long as you don't show off with your Bitcoin, as you don't visit crappy websites with malware and have a decent anti-virus, you should be ok against hackers.
Sometimes staying low profile is the best protection. Don't brag about your Bitcoin.

Now if this really true , then what kind of tactics we are up against ? , My words pointing to McAfee , you can not just clam something and leave it for people to guess . If you discovered something new then announce it .

I really wonder how Lazarus could be able to steal btcs through HaoBao (which is as far as i know is a Chinese restaurant franchising) campaigns. I don't see any correlation between crypto and a restaurant. ???

Anyway, I'm not bothered in this news at all because according to what I've understand, you may only get victimized if you are engaged with that Haobao campaign. Since I'm not engaged with it, I always assure that nobody knows the passwords and usernames of my accounts, and avoid entering malicious websites with "free bitcoin" concept then I can confidently say that I'm secured. But I stay alert, because I'm not removing the fact that there's no 100% safe.

I am angry with hackers! They steal the money and coins from others. They don't know how that coins they stole important to everyone and they did not care if someone lose their money. As long as they are alive, alive in a way that their needs and wants supported by means of stealing from someone else.

plus we have an enemy within and i am not talking about the bitcoin development team here.

Bitcoin is and still will be the principal target for hackers, much more since it's value grew up so much. The market has more than 20 million in BTC, so getting 10 is a great bite from that, a  succulent cake.
I believe we all are going to see this kind of news more and more often, 'cause it has been happening since the very beginning (the hacking). I feel the most important part of this is just to be aware of what is happening: where the money resides, then there will be hackers.
So, for our part, the most important thing is to be aware and to be careful. The situation you mentioned, the "Chinese food" restaurant becoming a hacker site, well. Every week we have a new one.
So thanks for sharing. I will make an investigation on the matter,

In fact, almost all the exchanges have suffered hacker attacks. Many have been involved in security incidents, but they have only kept them from handling their own problems. So I think this is an objective fact, but I also think your assets are not enough to allow hackers to attack you.

Nobody believed that he is the real creator of Bitcoin AKA Satoshi Nakamoto. He was not able to provide any single evidence that he is. Also as far as I know he also retract his statement. Now he is actually sued because he is the only one that admitted he is Satoshi.

For the topic hacking has been a problem ever since and to be honest the only thing we could do is be vigilant. Always think before you click, is the link you are clicking is legit. Specially if it was sent at an email. also do not download anything that you are unsure who the source is.

Be aware of malicious documents spreading. I heard that Haobao is
not only targeting cryptocurrencies but also spying on the
victim's system. It can gain access to your system and
credentials. There are bugs that are being exploited in the wild
and has not yet been in public. Windows users are being more
targeted and be ware of visual basic macros since these are one
the entry point of malwares.

Everybody should always be vigilant at all times no matter how safe they feel they are against these predators. As precautionary measure, we should always bear in mind that nothing is safe in cyberspace. Hacking coexists with cyberspace and OP like this is a good way to make others aware about this group.

The hacking group Lazarus are calling their hacking campaign as HaoBao, it's a self given name.
And realistically if you are just careful with your browsing and download activity you should be fine. And if you don't store BTC on your desktop or mobile device then there is nothing to worry about.

this doesn't sound legit to be honest specially since it is coming from McAfee! he is most probably trying again to gain some attention for his product.
a security company can not know beforehand that a group of hackers are "planning to" attack and hack something simply because those hackers aren't releasing newsletters telling the world what the hell they are doing...
besides all the "tactics" to hack bitcoin has been tried in the past 9+ years. there is nothing new anymore.

As our technologies are getting better , hackers are also evolving in terms of skills and mechanisms they use. They cannot access the blockchain technology itself and so they are targeting those who has bitcoin, users and investors. I see zero potential fot a user yo be hacked unless he/she is careless enough to accidentally show the keys and passwords.

Hackers are now very smart even they can hack the privacy of the country though. we as bitcoin users should be more careful in terms of accessing bitcoin, lots of apps cheats with the lure of big prizes, but our account is actually hacked by them, my advice is wise in choosing bitcoin project, observe and observe the main content and purpose bitcoin.

As technology becomes sophisticated over the years, same goes with the hacking too. All I can say is that we should beware of hackers. If browsing on an online wallet, make sure that you're in an incognito mode. Don't share your private data to anyone else. Paper wallet is more safe than storing your private keys online. If you have enough money, buy a hardware wallet.

Not all hackers are bad if the system affected by one hacker then it will solve by another hacker. But most of the hackers are against to the system they will not work for the country. Keep your wallet backup in a safe place. If you encrypt your wallet, when your phone or computer is stolen, it can also be used to restore your wallet.

After encrypting your wallet or smartphone, anyone who moves the money is required to enter a set of passwords that you set. This will prevent theft.

Offline wallets, also known as cold storage, provide the highest level of security storage. It involves storing your wallet in a secure environment without a network connection.

As long as we can do the above, don't worry about the hacker problem, we can only strengthen self-protection.
