Just my two cents as a Father, perhaps focusing on your family is more important than confronting Mark.

Although I agree that it may bring something positive to see him in person.

Try taking a social network trip. Faster. Better. Cheaper.

I will go to Japan and meet up with davidpate + other fellow bitcoiners, film / record it all and find Mark Karpeles to confront him about his lack of communication skills and just what exactly is going on over there at MTgox

After reading these words a computer game came to my mind...

1. are you running on fractional reserve system

You shouldn't ask this question. Anyway the answer will be "No".

Cause why not trick naive bitcoiners into paying a vacation for you?

Seems there's alot of negativity here.

Kush, if you want to find someone in tokyo or who wants todo this, it sounds great, why not.. . If people pledged the money ~ I'd go and do it. Simple.. . if no one else will, do it yourself.

wopwop, I'm not trying to 'trick' anyone. . There is no trickery going on..  I just said I could go hunt Mark down and confront him about his silence regarding so many issues.  .  If people think it's of worth while, they can contribute, if not, so be it. .  It is entirely voluntary.

*Edit, and I'd like to add, It wasn't even my idea to do this, or crowd fund it, others suggested so I just put the idea to the community. Don't like it, fine, but don't come in here claiming I'm trying to trick naive bitcoiners into paying for a vacation.
Salesman not trying to trick someone... that's a first ;D

It may be more difficult to get in than you think. What do the Japanese think about stalkers and how do they handle that?

^ good, I'd add in;

5. Given you are the #1 BTC exchange, How come you've stopped providing timely updates and do you feel this is good enough ?
6. What do you have to say about the many customers out there who are angry with you for not providing timely updates regarding their pending withdraws.
7. What are your thoughts on MtGox losing volume to competitors like bitstamp & how do you plan to win back support in the btc community?
8. What can you say reinforce market confidence given your fiat seizures  ?

With regards to people saying;
Quote

My family is, always has been and always will be my #1 priority.
Without knowing me, my family, or our circumstances/ current position.. I would like to point out that any criticism in this matter is completely unwarranted.  :)

It wasnt criticism. Just a suggestion.

2. Who will cover the remaining amount?

I think his kids would be proud of him.  And kids don't need their Dad standing over them 24/7 anyway.   Give them some space, Pops.

Sounds way more cost effective than confronting him on #mtgox. Why not go confront Peter Vessenes and DHS and ask them when they're going to give Gox its money?

Lol, yes I was asking myself the self question. He will refuse to see you, and you will be fucked up :)

You should better try to contact him over email or twitter or whatever.
And I don't see how this could help.

I am pretty sure you can find a Japanese guy to do that himself, instead of making a trip.

Lol, of course.

24h volume = 10k btc.
I don't think that any exchange got a higher volume.

(bitstamp volume = 7.8 k btc)

Why the f*ck do people still care about MtGox? ???
Gox is history, other exchanges run the show now. And that's a good thing.

Get your coins out while you still can and ignore this whole Gox debacle.

Which exchanger are you using?
As I said in my previous post, mt.gox is still the more widely used website so far to buy and sell btc.

Mostly bitcoin.de and bitstamp.net.

I guess that's all based on their past reputation. Right now it seems pretty useless to me:

It completely riddles me why anyone would want to buy BTC there, because the prices are higher (probably for the reason mentioned below) than any other major exchange.

It also riddles me why anyone would want to sell BTC there, because you can't get fiat out. I had to wait 3+ months to get a shitload of Euros transferred to my bank account (and still didn't get it). I ended up cancelling the whole thing, buying back BTC (at premium price), withdrawing them to another exchange and selling them there.

To clarify the latter: I'd prefer to keep my money as BTC rather than fiat anyway, but in this case I needed some Euros (wanted to pay off mortgage and stupid banks still not accepting BTC directly :().

This is what I'm wondering, what sort of qualifications do you have?  If you were some sort of investigative journalist I could see this possibly having some use but right now it just sounds like you're a random guy trying to either get a free vacation or play vigilante.

I was thinking more about his wife about to give birth, she might appreciate his presence; however as he pointed out I do not know his situation and have no right to speak.

I just know if it were me I would rather be with my wife than jetsetting around the globe.

This makes no sense, sorry. Showing up in person isn't going to get you any more information. Mtgox said that the bank in Japan limits how many wire transfers they'll do per day. I believe that. What needs answering is why it's taking so long to establish new banking relationships.

Confronting him would do little to nothing to resolve the problems that GOX account holders have.

If you do something stupid you would likely end up in jail.
